The Death On The Road version of Journeyman's best, although I don't think Bruce should have done the whole "Oh-oh-oh-oh-OH-oh-oh-oh" thing in the intro.

Lord Abortion 12-19-2005 03:42 PM

The DOTR version of the Journeyman is fantastic...on the whole it is the new songs that translate themselves into live works best on that album.

That stuff gets really annoying after a while. I don't like what he did on the chorus of The Trooper on Live After Death.

GenuineImitation 12-19-2005 05:33 PM

Whats everyones favorite maiden song to be played live. Mine is Fear of the Dark.

the_uber_penguin 12-19-2005 06:35 PM

Fear of the Dark on RiR was absolutely amazing. I have to say I love Bruce's version of The Clansman on there as well.

It's tough...my band do a cover of The Wickerman live, so I'd probably have to give that one my vote :s

1. "Phantom of the Opera"
2. "Flight of Icarus"
3. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"
4. "Fear of the Dark"
5. "Aces High"

Just seen this thread and thought I'd post.

I feel quite strange as a maiden fan because i'm a fair bit younger than most :) I'm only 17 which makes me wish one thing, That I was born earlier to see more maiden gigs.

First ever gig I saw was maiden earls court on the 12th. DOD Tour.

I've never seen a live act thats lived up to that experiance, Foo Fighters and GreenDay have come close but they were NOTHING compaired to maiden, Saw maiden again at Reading this year, I was in the front row! Words cannot express how much I love this band.

Favourite songs have to be:
Iron Maiden
Prowler
Phantom
The Trooper
Running Free (best)
The Clayvoiant
and Blood brothers.

There are so many decent maiden songs i can't shortern it any further.

Got almost all the maiden albums (won't touch Blaze with a ****ty stick).

Anyway just thought I'd post. I Recomend maiden to anyone interested in proper metal and any drum who wants to be amazed at what one man can do with a single pedel.

vashts80 12-19-2005 10:39 PM

I'm 14.

Blaze albums are awesome. Don't diss The Blaze.

I love Paschendale and Dance of Death live (from the videos I've seen), the stage show is amazing.

Josh 12-20-2005 05:38 AM

Blaze is awesome. i'm nearly 18, and i've seen Maiden twice :) my 11 year old brother wants me to take him to see them on the next tour.

Lord Abortion 12-20-2005 11:52 AM

Don't disrespect Blaze. He's an amazing vocalist, anyone who has ever listened to the X-Factor could say that.

/seen maiden twice

Bruce's vocals on The Trooper from Rock in Rio are god aweful, as well. Overall Bruce is a great live singer, but on that song he's horribly out of breath. Anyways, I've gotten some tracks from the X Factor, I think I'll buy it after Christmas.

IAJP 12-20-2005 03:31 PM

In 3:16 of Where Eagles Dare, is it just me or is there a mistake, of the drum kind?.

Deth 12-20-2005 03:33 PM

I don't hear anything. Do you mean timing or what?

IAJP 12-20-2005 03:35 PM

No, maybe on mine it's just something wrong with the CD, but I hear a little slip in the drumming, very quickly recovered.

Josh 12-20-2005 03:38 PM

it sounds fine on mine.

Deth 12-20-2005 03:43 PM

Anyway, it's a moot point since Nicko doesn't make mistakes.

true. although he did drum far too fast at one of the dates they played in the summer, due to a massive hangover

On hallowed be thy name, I had a feeling he was about to pass out. Especially in the intro when it starts kickin. But he managed to finish without problems. The trooper sounded ok in Rock in rio.

Thunder Fingers 12-20-2005 04:53 PM
Anyway, it's a moot point since Nicko doesn't make mistakes.
he did one in norway.. in one of the parts where it change in phantom, he continued with the drum part to the previous riff, for about 1 sec or shorter, i woul never have noticed it hadnt it been for that the drummer in my band at the time, did the exact same mistake..

Lord Abortion 12-20-2005 05:11 PM

HAHA, I've been looking for that for ages.

Is it me, or does Steve look lost without his bass?>

Lord Abortion 12-20-2005 06:37 PM

Yeah, he didn't know what to do with the mic.

That was like Dream Theater's Nightmare Cinema stuff, where they all swap instruments and cover Perfect strangers by Deep Purple

Because LaBrie is Great....You hear that Martin!?
He's absolutely awesome so stick that in your DT-hating pipe and smoke it!

La Brie have a Horrible nasal and whiny voice when he goes high, when he keeps in regular talking voice vocal he sounds decent, other than that, UTTERLY CRAP! especially when he tries to cover Metallica...

Lord Abortion 12-20-2005 06:42 PM

Your opinion...people could really say the same about Geddy (I don't because I love his voice)
/hides.

Locke 12-20-2005 06:46 PM

Vocals in DT arn't bad at all. Not seen em live yet so I can't comment there.

Bruce's are better than DT's imo, can't beat good ole brucie. Holds up well live, always sounds better when your actualy there than they do on the CD live versions.

I still love the raw dark Di'anno sound, would loved to have seen him do a few more albums.

Wounder if maiden could ever swap instuments and play each others parts....

Thunder Fingers 12-20-2005 06:49 PM

i know that, and i realy dont care what people say about geddys voice, atleast he doesnt sound like he hit a roof and keeps banging on it to get through....

YDload 12-20-2005 06:51 PM

I saw DT live and wasn't really impressed with LaBrie at all. I just didn't really care I guess. Myung was talented but boring; I would have rather liked to see Maiden instead :(

vashts80 12-20-2005 07:04 PM

I saw DT on Gigantour in late August, but the mix was horrendous so I couldn't really hear LaBrie that well, but from what I remember being able to hear, he sounded pretty good. Petrucci and Myung moved more than they did on Budokan, too.

Portnoy's kids were behind him too, he kept tossing his sticks in the air and they'd catch them when he threw them too far back heh.

Deth 12-20-2005 08:07 PM

Judging from Live At The Budokan, LaBrie isn't all that great live. I really like the album stuff though.

Shattered_Future 12-20-2005 08:40 PM

He was decent live, I guess...he hit most of his notes.

One gripe I have with DT is they do NOTHING to suck you in.

ashman 12-20-2005 10:30 PM

Maiden thread y'all, in this here thread Maiden >>>>>>>>>>> Dust >>>>>>>>>>> Faeces >>>>>>>>>>>>> Hitler>>>>>>> Dream Theater.

'tis law!

blackthorne 12-21-2005 06:41 AM

wow steve looks really ..... different without a bass
