Yeah, that kinda happened when I saw em to.
Out of the times I've seen them, the pit for Deliverance always ends up being funny, just cause of the parts where it's going back and forth between clean and heavy really fast, you know between the "come with me" etc etc parts. Its people swaying to the music and then moshing for a few seconds then back to swaying.
I was looking for that on lamentations haha

TojesDolan 02-16-2006 07:23 PM

It's funny to see how the kids in the front got "mad-crazey-headbangin'" with Closure. That and Per Wiberg doing it with the keyboards going on... yeah, good times.

I'm interested in the Closure track, Dream Theater. I'm logged on. :)

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 07:40 PM
Hmm, I will try to get in the front. I'll have to arrive early though.
Bah, moshpits aren't really that bad if you're not directly in them. Just get bumped a lot.

Hope the NY show is quite interesting. It sure sounds like it.

Stormrider 02-16-2006 07:48 PM
Bah, moshpits aren't really that bad if you're not directly in them. Just get bumped a lot.
Yeah, I know, but I'm 13. Very easy to get pushed around.

Meh, I'm worrying for nothing :p

NP Sinergy - Razor Blade Salvation ... Weren't you the one who loved bands with female vocals ? If so, check this power metal band out...if you havn't yet.

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 08:08 PM

Sinergy bores me. Goss is kind of a crappy vocalist...

It's got Marco though. Can't touch him. :thumb:

Hahaha yeah, exactly. Except the dude I went with was going berzerk during the entire song, it was hilarious. People were swaying to the melody as he was rampaging through the pit. He actually kissed the ''sun'' logo on the ground at one point. It's kinda sad he doesn't remember the concert, it was a great one. :)

I found this on christianforums......it's so ignorant. The thread was about people's opinions on Opeth.

Totally satanic. It is more then obvious just like all metal. Metal bands just tell the media what they do so that they make it seem like a big joke. They know what they are doing and the majority of them have already sold themselves out to the devil in trade for money and fame. They usually have witches or satanist come to the recording studios and put incantations on the cd's and all promotions so that the innocent 14 year old kid who buys the Slayer or Opeth album will open a doorway to the occult and be oppressed and be forever tormented. Then when they play the cd demons manifest and are drawn to the music that gives them the right to operate.

Heavy metal was carefully crafted by Satan to trap America's youth and recruit so many people into serving Satan. So many innocent people just buy cd's because of the phenomenal guitar riffs and the intimidation of the music and get sucked right into occult bondage and so many end up committing suicide or doing extremely heanous crimes.

My prayers go out to Christians who are blinded to what is really going on behind the scenes of the bands and how they are totally sold out to Satan and are just leading America's youth right into bondage and to being enslave to Satan.

How many of you Christians that listen to Satanic music suffer from bad dreams and out of body experiences?

Those dreams and experiences are just doorways that have been opened for the demonic spirit of death to torture you body and to instill fear into your life.

DISCERNMENT- to discover; to recognize; the ability to discover or recognize.

Hebrews 5:14

But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

We must train our consciences, our senses, and our minds to discern good from evil.

We need to recognize temptation before it traps us?

Let's see here:

Heavy metal that glorifies the sinful nature, the flood of dissipation that pagans endulge in daily, promotes Satan's kingdom of darkness, and the evil desires of the human heart.

Would a Christian discern this music as good or evil?

Praying that the blinders will be removed here and the right discernment will be made.

Yeah here's the thread.

Exactly.

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 08:49 PM

I read the first sentence. And started cracking up by the part where it said witches and satanists come and put incantations on the cds.

True, Opeth does have some satanic elements to them, but they're quite subtle. And everyone knows nobody's gonna go postal by listening to Opeth.

Deth 02-16-2006 08:55 PM

They're more references to Satan than actual satanism though.

Det_Nosnip 02-16-2006 09:21 PM
My least favorite would probably be The Funeral Portrait or The Baying of The Hounds. The riffage in TFP just annoys me and the lyrics in TBOTH seem kind of cheesy to me.

I hear the baying of the hounds, in the distance, I hear them devouring..

I mean come on, have any of you ever been hunting with dogs? They do nothing of the sort.
Sorry if this is a little late, but I've been out of town and away from the forums. Scrolling through the thread, I came to this, and just had to say something...

Dude, seriously...read the ****ing lyrics book. Mikael is not singing about a pack of pink poodles, here...these are the hounds of hell!

Apparently they haven't had a chance with Black metal.

On a brighter note, I think the most "satanic" references by Opeth are... mostly located in Ghost Reveries, and they aren't that evil.

I suppose I am a bad christian for liking riffz.

I won't be buried in a proper cemetery. :(
here...these are the hounds of hell!
That cracked me up.

I agree on all points. Too bad Marco doesn't sing though, at least then it would be a boring band with awesome vocals.

ElectricalStorm 02-17-2006 12:17 AM

That christianforums post was hilarious. I actually read the first couple pages and was surprised to find most people that posted thereafter disagreed with that user. That guy does produce another gem on page 2 though.

And there is nothing satanic about Opeth at all. The themes, whether they be dark or overtly occult or what have you, only shape the context of the story. Nothing immoral is being glorified in the least. Take the song Deliverence for example, neither murder nor Satan are being promoted(although both are mentioned). They're just elements of the story.

We can even take Ghost Reveries as a whole, I'm sure most of you can agree that it does maintain a loose sense of continuity throughout the album. Does anyone one of you think that it portrays giving your soul to Satan as a desireable thing?

Stoo 02-17-2006 04:42 AM

I'm listening to Opeth omfgz!!111!!! GoIn2HElL!

Jude 02-17-2006 09:45 AM

That Christianforums guy got railed on by everyone else in the thread. They backed him up so far that he was basically saying any music which isn't directly praising God is Satanic.

UpperDecker 02-17-2006 11:35 AM

Opeth do sing about satan. On Deliverance he sings "the devil guides the way" and The Grand Conjuration is about satan as well.

Treebeard 02-17-2006 01:13 PM

Opeth aren't satanists though. Singing about it or even mentioning it in music doesn't make you a satanistz0rz.

Otherside 02-17-2006 03:08 PM

Grand Conjuration seems to be more of an anti-satan song to me, much more than a actual satanist song.

If you would consider this praise, I don't know what's wrong with you :\
Tell my why

Definitely not satanist, not as far as I see it.

UpperDecker 02-17-2006 03:13 PM

So when do you think they'll start working on another album?

TojesDolan 02-17-2006 03:35 PM

Probably they'll use all this year to promote GR, and if they are not into taking long breaks, we may see a new album in mid 07, or late 06.

I guess mid 07 is more like it.

ok lateralus 02-17-2006 04:35 PM

In regards to the satanism discussion: It's interesting to note that Black Sabbath, one of the most 'evil', dark, heavy bands of all time, the Godfathers of heavy metal, were practically a Christian band. So things are not what they seem

Txus 02-17-2006 04:37 PM

OMG, Tojes postcount is so EVIL. :p

/Has nothing to do with Opeth....sorry.

TojesDolan 02-17-2006 04:50 PM

Indeed. :p

I left it run for a while. I copeid the scren for further use.

Man, i shouldn't be listening to opeth so much. Of all music i listen to, I listen to opeth like 8:1.

I shouldn't be doing that.
