You need Still Life...

Yeah, get Still Life. My personal favorite is My Arms, Your Hearse. It's a Masterpiece.

Shattered_Future 06-10-2006 02:57 PM

I'm still the Blackwater Park fanboy. It just slays.

Kaiwaz 06-10-2006 03:02 PM

Haha yeah it does. I've been listening to it a lot lately.

still life alright thanks :]

Kaiwaz 06-10-2006 04:06 PM

It's Opeth's most mature album IMO, very well recorded/written and a perfect blend of growl/sing.

i am the robots 06-10-2006 04:41 PM

I personally feel that Damnation is their most, 'mature,' album, however, I wish that they'd write as well as they did on that album in the old style... imagine an entire Opeth album of songs like To Bid You Farewell.

Alas it will never happen :upset:.

Darkness 06-10-2006 04:42 PM
It's Opeth's most mature album IMO, very well recorded/written and a perfect blend of growl/sing.
Yeah it is. That's the Opeth sound perfected right there.

Shadius 06-10-2006 05:48 PM

Favourite song from each album at the moment;

Morningrise - To Bid You Farewell
My Arms, Your Hearse - When
Still Life - The Moor
Blackwater Park - Leper Affinity
Deliverance - s/t
Damnation - Windowpane
Ghost Reveries - Ghost of perdition

Orchid, seriously all blends into one with me, I remember certain riffs, never full "songs".

Half way thru I sort of realised how stupid this was, and how many good songs there are on most albums. The only constant favs are on Morningrise and Deliverance there, the rest could practically be any song, oh well.

TojesDolan 06-10-2006 05:49 PM

I need to get some of that Agalloch... hmm...

Panvium 06-10-2006 06:12 PM

I'm in love with Karma. Great song all around. The ending is the best part though. The awesome riff + growling in backround that sounds like wind ( to me alteast)

Txus 06-10-2006 06:17 PM

The drumming in Karma is fantastic.

AA-12 06-10-2006 06:20 PM

I like Agalloch more than Opeth now. Much deeper.

Anyway, I just bought Lamentations.

Txus 06-10-2006 06:20 PM

You are my new best friend. :)
The drumming in Karma is fantastic.
It's Martin Lopez's least favorite Opeth song too...

Shattered_Future 06-10-2006 06:31 PM

Lamentations is amazing, aside from the Akefeldt supercloseups.

Txus 06-10-2006 06:32 PM
It's Martin Lopez's least favorite Opeth song too...
I know, it's weird..I miss Martin :(

/Puts some Opeth.

TojesDolan 06-10-2006 06:33 PM

Yeah you can tell he's a rather fugly guy with rather little facial hair.
I know, it's weird..I miss Martin
oh well you could say you miss Lopez because there's already another Martin in the mix. :p

Shattered_Future 06-10-2006 06:33 PM

Only thing I don't like is how it looks like he has massive amounts of pubes on his chin...

Jude 06-10-2006 08:10 PM
Only thing I don't like is how it looks like he has massive amounts of pubes on his chin...
I hate those "looking up at him" shots. That neckbeard is an atrocity.

Daven 06-10-2006 08:11 PM
Only thing I don't like is how it looks like he has massive amounts of pubes on his chin...
Hahahaha true, but he is great.

Shattered_Future 06-10-2006 08:44 PM

It's either that, or there's those shots where it screams, "WE'RE GOING UP HIS NOOOOOSE!"

Thor 06-10-2006 08:49 PM
It's either that, or there's those shots where it screams, "WE'RE GOING UP HIS NOOOOOSE!"
Yeah, the most annoying time when they do that is in "The Leper Affinity" when Mikeal starts screaming...

I am beyond death
Midst a dreaming affinity
Saving strength now, faint whispers
Come erotic communion in its splendour...

As soon as I saw that I realized how hairy that man is. It's pretty amusing.

Shattered_Future 06-10-2006 08:50 PM

It really is...he's a ton fatter in that video too than he is now.

Thor 06-10-2006 08:52 PM
It really is...he's a ton fatter in that video too than he is now.
Yeah, pretty true...although he was never really fat.

I hope they make another DVD because I'd love to hear them play older songs, especially stuff off of Still Life and Morningrise.

Shattered_Future 06-10-2006 08:55 PM

I must say, hearing White Cluster played live was one of the best parts of seeing Opeth live. While I'd rather have heard Godhead's Lament, White Cluster was still awesome.

Thor 06-10-2006 08:56 PM

Out of all of the songs I'd like to see them play live, The Moor would be my top choice. I bet most of the fans would go ****ing bananas if they played Face of Melinda, though.

Still don't like that one...

The Moor is killer though.

Neither do I. I think it's the weakest song on the album and the most overrated Opeth song of all time.

Kaiwaz 06-10-2006 09:13 PM
The drumming in Karma is fantastic.
Yeah it is, not only does Karma have a lethal outro, there's so many complicated time changes throughout.

Yeah it is. It's a good turning point for the story, but aside from that, it's probably my least listened to track on Still Life, and maybe even out of all Opeth songs in general.

Stormrider 06-10-2006 09:24 PM
Likewise, Thor. :thumb:
My new MSN display pic is a Chuck picture :)

And Face of Melinda grew a lot on me. At first I didn't really like it.

Nice to see that people know I adore Death.
I'll pretend I didn't see that, and move on.
I knew that I was going to get that remark from someone. :)

Stormrider 06-10-2006 09:30 PM

Best part of Face of Melinda is from where Distortion starts to the end imo.
