Finally went CD shopping today. Took a biiig list, and came back with 16 CDs, precisely 1 of which was anywhere near the list. Stupid sales.

The Wildhearts - The Wildhearts Strike Back

munky_magik 01-05-2005 10:12 AM

3 Wildhearts cds!! I envy you :upset:
I muchly prefer Ben Harper's live stuff to studio stuff, it just has much more energy.
Marvin Gaye is a classic, I know I already said it but I got his 2 disc best of for £9.99 :)

All in all a good haul :thumb:

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 10:37 AM

How much did that lot cost you?!?!?

Bartender 01-05-2005 10:43 AM
3 Wildhearts cds!! I envy you :upset:

Those three are just three I needed for rounding out my collection of Wildhearts stuff. I have a retarded amount of Wildhearts stuff.
I muchly prefer Ben Harper's live stuff to studio stuff, it just has much more energy.
Yeah. Live From Mars is an amazing album, but I've already got it so I decided to go for this. Fancied hearing a studio version of Burn One Down, for one thing.

I was pleased :)
How much did that lot cost you?!?!?
All together, about £108; £6.75 on average.. Only the three Wildhearts ones were close to full price (they cost £34).

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 10:49 AM

How I envy someone able to spend that much on music...

^It was only a fiver, and it's on the Rolling Stone 500 list, so if nothing else it's review fodder :)

This is my Christmas money being spent.

How I envy someone given Christmas money :p

Arucard 01-05-2005 11:28 AM

I bought 36 Crazy Fists - A Snow Capped Romance, Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider and In Flames - The Jester Race.

All are good.

Bartender 01-05-2005 11:35 AM

I haven't had the chance to listen to any of mine yet, as I'm busy watching the Naked Gun boxed set I also bought.
How I envy someone given Christmas money :p
Even though I didn't get any CDs or anything besides it? :)

munky_magik 01-05-2005 11:36 AM

People end up giving me money instead of cds, because no one has any idea what cds I have/want.

Actually I'm not sure if even I know what cds I have. I'm pretty sure that I've bought Silverchair - Diorama twice now...

EDIT: I spelt it right the second time round

Arucard 01-05-2005 11:37 AM

Man, i cant explain how suprised i was when i took that 36 Crazy Fists album home and realised it was good.

Bartender 01-05-2005 12:00 PM

I've got to wonder why you bought it, then? :)
People end up giving me money instead of cds, because no one has any idea what cds I have/want.
Same here. It's more or less at my request, because I'd much rather forgo the pleasure of opening presents if it also means avoiding returning a dozen or more CDs.

Do what I do; list them! Just for yourself, to keep track of them. I used to just do it in text documents, but (much as I hate to admit it) www.rateyourmusic.com seems to be your best bet.

that's a good long term project, but it won't help me that much when I get blinded by cheap cds. Any cd for £5 is jsut asking me to buy it, It's like mind control or something

EDIT: I've decided that the best thing The Simpsons have ever done is "The Raiders of the Lost Ark" parody. Genius :)

Bartender 01-05-2005 12:08 PM

I listed all my CDs in the last two days, because I have no life (and only 300 CDs). The compare feature is fun, too.

I know what you mean about cheap CDs, though. I narrowly avoided breaking the 20 CD barrier today, by forcing myself to put back several CDs I picked up early on.

:amaze: the Willpower you must have!

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 01:01 PM

Well I'm not buying any CDs till after my birthday (enfranchised in 11 days :D)
I've drawn up a long list of all those I want so my friends have gift ideas :smoke:

BludgeonySteve 01-05-2005 05:27 PM

Birthdays are good for expanding your collection ;).

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-05-2005 05:36 PM

I got 70 cds around X mas and still haven't heard them all.

Edit: Just counted them all up and the finale count is 116

munky_magik 01-05-2005 05:41 PM

70? I got about 6 through spending my own money

BludgeonySteve 01-05-2005 05:43 PM

Schyma, how did you get all of those again?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-05-2005 05:47 PM

Well I told you guys about the 1st 70 but I also gained about 40 more from a 2nd trip.

I have about 150 cds at the moment. :)

Per Ardua Ad Astra 01-05-2005 05:48 PM

The majority of the cds that i buy are under 10 dollars. I'm a bargain hunter, unless it's something that i want very much.

munky_magik 01-05-2005 05:49 PM

*has about 260 cds* :)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-05-2005 05:55 PM

I dont buy many Cds 90% of my cds came to me free.

Edit: I have 200 burned Cds

munky_magik 01-05-2005 05:58 PM

I only have about 5 burned cds, I much prefer having the real copies over anything burned.
