When you go hunting with them, no they don't. You kill the hog (only animal I know of that are truly "bayed" when you hunt them. Deer are just sort of chased). But what do you think wild packs of dogs do? (Or should I say "did"...not too many packs of wild dogs running around anymore). I'm not sure what wolves or Coyotes do, but I'm sure it must be pretty similar.
The song doesn't make a particular reference to hunting dogs.

I can't really pick three favourite Opeth riffs, I think most Opeth riffs are on the same plane of greatness. Not to mention that a song isn't the sum of it's riffs.

Hells Bells 02-16-2006 09:44 AM

No, it isn't, but everyone has parts of the song that stand out for them over everyone else.

Well sure.. I said.. riffs ... but I mean any arrangements.. aswell as solos.. or drum parts .. just anything specific like that.

Something that really brings you together to make you feel as unique as Opeth make you feel.

A select penultimate as to engage that feeling that you get from Opeth.

C'mon man. Sure they're great but theres gotta be at least three riffs that makes you quiver.

Ghost of Perdition
White Cluster
Drapery Fallls
???
Deliverance
Grand Conjuration
Under a Weeping Moon
Baying of the Hounds
Demon of the Fall(encore)

Setlist from the concert last night, in case anyone was wondering.

TojesDolan 02-16-2006 03:12 PM

Anything you particularly remember of the "???" song?

Any lyric

Or something

help us out a little here

Otherside 02-16-2006 03:29 PM

It was mostly acoustic, can't remember any lyrics at all, didn't try to pick any out... was having enough trouble remembering the order of the songs in the first place, especially after the beer :p

You are fading from my sight
Break of morning, coldness lingers on
Shroud me into nightmares of the sun

Otherside 02-16-2006 03:58 PM

Update: I found from someone else who was at the show that the song was Closure. I kind of figured it was from Damnation, which was why I didn't recognize it.

Darkness 02-16-2006 05:19 PM

Setlist is alright, bit dissappointed actually... I was hopeing for BWP and Face of Melinda... oh well.

^Dream~Theater^ 02-16-2006 05:21 PM

Weak setlist man..Wheres IMSWS!!

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 05:23 PM

Man, that is a LAME *** setlist. No Leper Affinity, no Bleak, no Godhead's Lament, no Master's Apprentices...what gives?

Darkness 02-16-2006 05:23 PM

They can't please everyone... I'm sure it'll still be a killer show...

^Dream~Theater^ 02-16-2006 05:24 PM

I'm so mad about the setlist, hopefully I'll get someone elses setlist and maybe they change it up each night(Hoping)

Otherside 02-16-2006 06:00 PM

Even if the setlist seem disappointing to you guys, it was a great show. I'm not the biggest fan of the setliest either, but I seriously didn't find a single person who went who didn't love them. One person said they did everything on those songs better live, which I somewhat agree with...

Ghost of Perdition and Grand Conjuration have a much bigger impact live than studio, trust me.

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 06:11 PM

Yea, I guess that's true. Even though the setlist is somewhat below par, it's still Opeth. And it's still live.

They DO have a few gems in that setlist though.

TojesDolan 02-16-2006 06:19 PM

That was good enough for a two-hour show or so. Damn, there's still people complaining on why Lamentations was post-blackwater Park. I Suppose it's all relative. Like EVERYTHING else in life.

On a non-related side note, good to know it was Closure. I prefer the sound of it live. Did they start fooling around after the last sung part, or did they just started playing a riff over and over again...?

Ghost of Perdition has alot of impact in the studio for too so I guess that's doubleplusgood*.

*Sorry I've been reading 1984 too much.

Otherside 02-16-2006 06:24 PM

I think they started playing the riff over and over again, for some reason a mosh pit broke out during that part of that song right beside me so I had to watch out for flailing drunk metalheads so I didn't get killed.

That being said, the mosh pit for Demon Of The Fall is intense. Very, very intense.

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 06:26 PM

Well, there goes the notion that there won't be a pit for Opeth...

That being said, I feel like moshing this time around...

Otherside 02-16-2006 06:26 PM

Not a pit for Opeth? Is that possible?

One broke out for every song I think, at one point or another.

And for anyone wondering, I wasn't too impressed with the T-shirt selection... they only had one tour shirt and it was $30, but I ended getting it anyways.

Stormrider 02-16-2006 06:28 PM

Moshing worries me :(

/has never been to a gig

NP - Dark Moor - By the Strange Path of Destiny

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 06:29 PM

Dammit. I was counting on 25 dollar tshirts.

Oh well, Connecticut doesn't have sales tax on clothing. :)

I got used to moshing at the one concert I went to...just make sure to stay pressed up at the people on the very edge, and you should be fine.

BurningSky 02-16-2006 06:31 PM

One week until the NY show..\m/

I managed to get my hands on the MP3 of Closure from last nights show if anyone is interested. Gotta have Msn though;)

Out of the times I've seen them, the pit for Deliverance always ends up being funny, just cause of the parts where it's going back and forth between clean and heavy really fast, you know between the "come with me" etc etc parts. Its people swaying to the music and then moshing for a few seconds then back to swaying.
