A Strat is a staple. I don't like the feel of Teles, although the sound is great.

You've never played a G&L ASAT.

If I had to buy another guitar, I'd definitely buy a Tele. The only thing I want to do is find one with a humbucker (EMG-81) in the bridge and a single coil (EMG-FT) in the neck.

I used to hate them, as with all non-Les Paul single cut guitars (and every single cut bass). Now, not so much. They've been growing on me in terms of sound and playability, and the body is a bit more funky than a Strat.

they play and sound nice, but they look vile. they look a bit better to me when they're pimped with massive humbuckers and stuff (heresy i know), but still ugly.

I prefer a bridge humbucker for guitar myself. I do like the look of a single in the neck, though...at least on a Telecaster.

It's mostly the body, actually. I don't like the lack of contours on a Telecaster. I like the Strat body and neck. Very slim and fast, much like my bass, except for being half as wide.

Sounded pretty fantastic, it was the best venue in town of that size. Always sounds good.

Hmm, don't remember all of it, but in no particular order they definitely played Dr. Bones, Master and Slave, Brown Derby Jump, Zoot Suit Riot, Ding Dong Daddy, When I Change Your Mind, Cherry Poppin' Daddy Strut, Hi and Lo, Drunk Daddy and Skaboy JFK. They did some other ska stuff and a few rockier tracks that I've heard before but don't really "know". I'm sure they're safely tucked away in my discography somewhere.

You sound like you work in a recording studio. :p Your wall would probably also consist of a P-bass, Jazz bass, and *maybe* a Rickenbacker. The aforementioned arsenal is damn versatile and will cover 90% of your needs.

You can get a lot of use out of Fenders.

I've never owned one though, I never will unless I end up with more money than I know what to do with and burn it away on frivolous instrument acquisitions.

I've never really been a Fender guy, but I LOVE the precision I own now that I own one. Even if it isn't a Fender. Just makes me sad that my main bass doesn't sound like it :(

It's a Shuker JJ Burnel signature precision. With a couple of small changes.

5s are excellent. Depending on the setting, obvs.

About damn time. Fatty and I have three 5-strings worth of strings between our two basses.

So, presuming they are a small enough operation to only facilitate one location, I just found out that Genz-Benz is located about 12 miles from my house. I wonder if I can take a day off work and go check it out sometime...

You could steal some of those shuttles and put them in your pockets, then mail me one?

I'm thinking of getting a five. I barely touch my 6 but I can see a five being handy.

Why don't you play your six. It sounds like you clearly don't crave the low B enough to go pick it up and play it, so how would a 5 be any different? Also, which 6 do you have?

I have an Ibanez SR706.

I've enjoyed playing it in jams but I never actually need the C string for any of the gigs or teaching I do. I've gotten involved in a new covers band starting soonish so I'm not sure if a low B will be in that yet, if it will be required and the pay is good enough I'll probably look at picking one up just so I can have the B without a C string I don't want in the way.

Also I'm genuinely attracted to this Ibanez SR4505E and any excuse to buy it will probably see it on its way to me. It's a sexy blonde.

I haven't touched a non-BTB Ibanez in quite some time. How's it play?

I could definitely live with having a 5. I get a lot of use out of my 6, all the way up the C string, but it's nothing I couldn't do without, or (mostly) just transpose onto the G string. I'd shoot puppies for a Dingwall Super P/J 5.

The SR706 plays alright, my SR500 is my absolute favourite bass, it plays like a dream. The SR706 is very similar, just, you know, wider.

Personally my preference is not for wider necks but for a 6 string neck it's pretty accommodating.

Current cravings are:

Bass - Ibanez SR4045E
Rig - Aguilar DB210 (Boss Tweed)
Other - TC Electronics Polytune Stompbox / new bass strap

I played an awesome show last night. I also organized it all. We packed the place real nice. And I had this idea to have a giveaway, which everyone got on board with. So we made this random funny poster congratulating the winner, we included copies of our latest EP and album, one band donated and EP, and one band donated a t-shirt. During the last band's set they took a short break and we announced the winner and called them up on stage to receive the gift. It was a lot of fun.

Sounds fun, did you sell tickets for the give-away or was their door ticket the raffle ticket?

The prize was awarded to the 53rd person in the door, a completely arbitrary number that I picked about two weeks ago. The poster read: "Congratulations! You had the 53rd best time of your life on April 8th, 2011, with Capital H, Lake Of The Wood, and Letterbomb!" And all the members of all the bands signed it, too.

Is it normal to keep a list of who comes in in what order over there?

So, my professor put a bunch of multiple-choice quizzes online, all of which have unlimited retakes, are purely for extra credit, show you afterward which answers were right and wrong. At max, I will only have to take each quiz 4 times (if I just write down my correct/incorrect attempts to get maximum extra credit, leading me to >100% in the class.
