CONTROVERSIAL:
I think Load And Reload are Metallicas most interesting material, its good songs, nice melodies, always something to listen to, brilliant, fittingly basslines, bass at an hearable level, james voice is quite good, and just an higher level of quality in the production and the songs than on the other albums. and theres punch in the albums. and while im at it, Dream theater is a bloody boring band live... and they play for 3 HOURS! I would have fallen asleep... the music(minus the vocals) is good(when they are not constantly Soloing...)... |
You bust back in, and you do it with style!
I can see why you think DT is boring, though I would disagree. |
The scary thing is that.... Steve Harris Also Like Load And Reload more than the others.... :p
serriously, i am much to like that guy...(minus my creativity, there he is on another level than me...) like: We Both started Bass at 16. I have his type of playing style, and it was NOT on purpose... im Stuborn, unless they have a thing that can realy convince me different, i aint moving.. well... i guess that was the only things... hes 30 years older than me, and im like twice his height :p im not as like him as i thought... |
Yeah, well, most people are twice Steve's height
|
How tall is he?
/not twice Steve's height |
I love LaBrie's voice, haven't heard the MOP cover though, he would have to be trying really hard to sound bad if he sounds worse than Hetfield.
He easily destroyed MoP with his vocals. He did a little better on sanitarium, nothing great though. They're more like hard rock. Most people complain because a thrash band released a hard rock album. I'm not a fan of load, but reload does have some great songs like bad seed, slither, poor man's lyric, fuel, memory remains, etc... For me their songs just go on and on and never get to the point. Their metallica covers would have been somewhat nice if they didn't do the vocals. |

exept for everyone else in maiden.... the band is kinda midgets... And Bruce is a couple of centimetres lower than steve...:p |

I agree with DT being boring but they're not that boring
|
I saw Dream Theater live. They weren't TOO boring but their songs were really fucking long and I got tired of them. LaBrie left the stage during the long instrumental sections of nearly every song and it seems like Portnoy was the real frontman of the band.

blaze songs are best sung by blaze and bruce songs by bruce with a couple of exceptions
|
Can anyone recomend some songs with Blaze on them? I don't think I've heard a thing from his era of Maiden.
|
Just Buy "the X Factor" Brilliant album.
Just Buy "the X Factor" Brilliant album.
yes indeed or you could get Virtual XI, or better yet, get both:) Something completely unrelated now Bruce plays teh acoustic |
How many maiden albums are there without bruce in it? I am unfamiliar with pre-Bruce Maiden and want to get into it more.
|
there are 4...
the two first ones("Iron Maiden"(1980) and "Killers"(1981) wich have paul diannio on Vocals. Nr. 10 "The X Factor"(1995) and 11 "Virtual XI"(1998) Wich Have Blaze Baley on vocals. |
I have been meaning to get "Killers" for some time now, so I'll get that one. Which is better, "Iron Maiden" or "The X Factor"?
|
Oh... thats hard... thats my 2 favourite albums.. i cant realy say wich is the best, but Iron Maiden is an exelent album, wich i think is one of the first albums any maiden fan should get...

I'll wind up getting all of them, but I'll get "Killers" and "Iron Maiden" the next chance I get. Thanks for the help. |
I think you should get Iron Maiden and The X factor.... cause out of IronMaiden and Killers, Iron Maiden is the better one(slightly, but ill give Iron Maiden the lead just becouse of "prowler" and "phantom of the opera")
and i think you should get The X factor, so you have something from all maiden eras... |
Am I the only one that likes bruce more than paul and blaze? At least for maiden, most songs bruce did are better imo. Plus his vocals fit maiden more.

Bruce is the best, mainly because he is just awesome, but Paul and Bruce were great as well, for the albums they did. the 2 Blaze albums are awesome. |
I havent heard any songs other than the ones Bruce did, but Im sure they wont be as good.

I've heard Iron maiden, and didn't like it much, but when I saw Rock in Rio, and Bruce did it, it sounded much better. I guess I just like his vocals more. |

Paul's vocals are more...raw than Bruce's, i suppose. Blaze sounds quite dark and evil some of the time as well, he adds a lot to the atmosphere of songs. |
well.. iron maiden is more of a live song, sounds better that way... but the entire iron maiden album should be remixed...
Paul have/had a realy good voice, wich fitted Maiden of that era best, luckily he went when he went, i dont think NOTB would be that good with his voice, wouldnt have made the same... Impact. |

Impact.
Iron Maiden is just an anthem, you have to sing it at the top of your voice when you're there. Paul was definitely good for his era, but his style wasn't right for NOTB, IMO he would never have done well on HBTN. |
I'll say what I've said before, which is that Paul improved immensely from S/T to Killers, but his improved voice was too reminiscent of Rob Halford. To survive, Maiden needed to show that they were different than Judas Priest, and Steve's bass playing and literary songwriting could only take the band so far. Vocals are what's most important in a band for most people (like the pop music crowd who decide how big a band can be), so they had to have a singer who was good but not with the same style as Halford. That's where Bruce comes in.
