EMG's are very good for metal, but have no versatility. You're not gonna get nice jazz clans outta them or anything. Also, from what I've heard the clean sound on them isn't meant to be all that great.
|
I've also heard about lacking clean sound, but like I said, the times I play clean are few and far between. I definitely want an 81 in the bridge, but I'm not sure if a 85 or 60 would be better in the neck.
Metal-Archives is starting to really piss me off. Ever since I saw that they allowed Mastodon to be labeled "Progressive Sludge/Fusion Metal" I've been annoyed with them.
Why? Hello, anyone who's here. |
As always. How's it going? As you can see my problem tonight is working out this guitar pickup situation. You play?
|
Nope, or I probably would have commented already.
|
Indeed. What's new, more fun school work?
|
Does Bartender even play any insturments?
|
Indeed. What's new, more fun school work?
I missed a tutorial at 9am.. I have to go in for a couple of hours later on though. Jesus at 2pm, Samurai at 3. |
Does Bartender even play any insturments?
Not any more. I used to play guitar (just acoustic though, and even that not very diligently) and piano (until we moved house). |
Why did you quit playing the guitar?
|
Just kind of lost interest, I think.
|
Eh', thats kinda whats happening to me right now...losing interest as well. Hopefully I won't lose full interest in it though.
|
Well I never was really into it at first, anyway, but it was something I could carry on trying to play once piano was no longer an option (and no, keyboard wasn't an option either).
Anyway. Arcturus are playing tonight :( |
You must go! It's Arcturus!
/would kill to see them |
I'm saving my "kill to go" ammo for the AC/DC tour.
|
You must go! It's Arcturus!
/would kill to see them
It's sold out, and it's in London. |
Lame!
|
Incredibly. Supported by Enslaved, Grimfist, Madder Mortem and Red Harvest, too.
|
Whoa...alot of support acts, especially enslaved.
Well on a lighter note, Faster Fingers sent me Lykathea Aflame - Elvenfris, and I have to say this album is purely brilliant...the last track is incredibly relaxing as well. |
what genre are they? I recall their name but am not familiar with them.
|
^Technical/brutal death metal, but with a lot of melody too. And a very good drummer.
Yeah, it is a very good album. |
what genre are they? I recall their name but am not familiar with them.
Well, they have middle eastern and jazz influences in their music, with bits of grind and death... Sorta like Opeth in a way. they go from calm acoustic things, into brutal death metal and grind, then right back into soothing. It's really cool stuff, and their drummer has the same style as Flo from Cryptopsy in a way, and the drums stand out big time and add alot of the music. |
Interesting...Melodic, Opeth-like, Sounds to my liking.

Heres one song, going to upload another. And they are more brutal when it comes to the death metal side of things then Opeth, just the song structure is kinda the same way. http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2I1WCK4BD1DTV32Y3X35KZIJ04 Heres another song. |
Hmm, very different, but I like it. The middle-eastern sound is cool. I may be picking this one up. Thanks for the introduction.
|
I also got a Diabolical Masquerade album from Pig's the other day, the album Nightwork, and wow this is very cool album. Also got Death's Design, very weird album with the whole 61 tracks and like 20 movements.
|
Dudes do you know who rise against are. They are a christian rock band and either way their bassist is like holy **** and they well are just great. If you wanted to get one of their tracks it should be Like an Angel.
|
I think your in the wrong place mate. This isn't really a thread for recommendations.

It's a terrible thing when fanboyism short circuits Grammar |
On another note, I think my computer is screwed. For some obscure reason it has decided to not output a monitor signal so I can't see what the hell I'm doing. Stupid computer

The difference between Lykathea and Opeth is that Lykathea are actually good. |

But he still manages to post. Amazing... :p |
Heh, that's a combination of School + my old laptop which I use for recording drum tracks from cubase. That doesn't alter the fact that my computer is being retarded :(
|
Heh, thats probably almost as frustrating as trying to teach your Mum how to send an e-mail. I just spent over an hour doing it. I never thought such things could be so hard.
|
Very frustrating. I can't get to any of my music or my Schoolwork
And yeah, some people have a strange ineptitude to doing anything involving technology. This thread has almost got it's 15,000th post |
/puts it one post closer.
And it's the beginning of the year, wouldn't school have only just begun, if that even? Perhaps the school year works differently in your part of the world. |
Another post closer.
School in the UK starts its new term in August. Don't ask me why. |

Surprisingly enough, when I taught my mom, she caught on in a flash. Sorry you had to deal with the frustration. EDIT: Whoa, 15k. Beers all around! :chug: |

EDIT: Whoa, 15k. Beers all around! :chug:
The sad thing is, this isn't the first time she's been taught:upset: And congrats to all the regulars of this thread on the 15,000. :chug: |
dammit Bobo, now I have to check out Diabolical Masquerade.
