...anyone?
Yes, agreed, very cool. They should open for Neil Young or something. And then do a few of their old songs with him. I would pay anything to go to that concert. |

Crosby sounded great, Stills was even better at the guitar, and Nash was meh. |
I asked for the LZ complete studio recordings for x-mas. Any of you guys asking for Cd's?(if you celebrate Christmas)
|
I would sell my soul for that show.
That would give meaning to the phrase "I sold my soul for rock and roll" I've been bitten by the cleverness bug I says :thumb: |

My whole list is bandshirts and cds.:) |
I also need bandshirts, I only have a Zeppelin one.
|
I asked for the LZ complete studio recordings for x-mas, any of you guys wanting some CD's?
I want CD's soooo badly. I've got no money, in fact I owe money, I haven't gotten new CD's in quite some time. Then again I also need a new bass drum head (hopefully sooner than christmas, else I'll just have to stick to rudiments and snare and such) A new metronome and *want* (not need) a new snare. |
This Thursday I'm getting money and CD's, and on Christmas an electric guitar.

Jet rocks the industry. I love classic rock, all I play. Love the Beatles, Stones, BTO, Cream, Hendrix, Mountain, Skynyrd, Creedence, ACDC, The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Steppenwolf, Joe Walsh, John Mayal and the Bluesbreakers. Awesome stuff. I'm 16 and alot of my friends like it too. It carries alot more weight than todays rap and worthless metal.

welcome welcome. jet rocks the industry? whats that supposed to mean? nice choice of bands though, im glad you included joe walsh and also the bluesbreakers...you have dug beneath the surface of classic rock i suppose. i don't listen to metal music really, but i wouldn't call it worthless..and neither should you (this is a rock and metal forum) and badmoon, how much was your banjo? did you get a banjo before or after a guitar? |
hahaha! that picture of neil young is great. you're right Woodstock, he wasn't the prettiest, but his music sure was. and i like your avatar.
i saw this john lennon concert on tv a while ago, and yoko was there as well. does anyone else find that she cannot sing a note if she tried? its more like screeching. |
and badmoon, how much was your banjo? did you get a banjo before or after a guitar?
About $300, and yes. |
About $300, and yes.
im assuming your talking american money...or some other noncanadian country because that sounds very cheap for a banjo. we have a banjo at our school that i play sometimes, although the only song i can play is Dueling Banjos (and of course, i get lost once he starts really going). can you post any songs of you playing your banjo? i wanna hear some. |
Jerry Garcia played banjo before he played guitar ;)
And so did John Lennon (kinda) |

Banjos rarely break over $700. Plus, at the time, I hardly knew about the banjo. The model I got is fine. It's all about the finger picking.
can you post any songs of you playing your banjo? i wanna hear some.
I don't know how to do any of that recording stuff. To find out how a banjo solo is played, you must know the rolls. Rolls are basically patterns to help loosen your fingers. Just like scales. Banjo playing commonly sounds random, but is actually and usually all various patterns. It's the picking and speed you have to get use to. |
Was that sarcasm? Because I don't think you knew thst John Lennon breifly played banjo when he was young.
But yes, everyone knows that garcia played banjo. |
Jerry Garcia played banjo before he played guitar ;)
That's not true. Even got a guitar when he was 15. And learnt banjo later. I wouldn't say I played guitar, but I commonly practiced chords before I learned how to play the bajo. |
Really? I've heard that from a few people before, they said that Garcia was raised on bluegrass and played a bit of banjo before he played guitar.
But i'm going to believe the ultimate Jerry Garcia fanboy :thumb: |
I'm not a fanboy. I realize his flaws and his talents.
Really? I've heard that from a few people before, they said that Garcia was raised on bluegrass and played a bit of banjo before he played guitar.
He was raised on Banjo, but he started playing Rock and Roll, and then thought it got boring. And then took up the banjo, and bluegrass more so than ever. He of course went back to Rock though. |
Hehe, yeah. Fine.
Only $10s (1 act of whoring my body) until I can get Workingman's Dead :) edit: w00t I re teh starz0rz! |
no i wasnt being sarcastic. i didn't know about lennon and mcartney. and im not being sarcastic in this post either. seriously. now everthing i say just sounds sarcastic.
im really good at fingerpicking for guitar. unlike most kids my age, who's only goal is to shred at mach speeds, i prefer trying to pick out bluegrass tunes as fast as my guitar teacher can. im not even close though. using a pick im probably about average for how long i've been playing guitar. |
Aren't you a guitar teacher?
Hehe most kids my age just want to play simple powerchord songs... |
bastard.
Badmoon's Banjo Tips ------------------------- - Learn rolls. So good, you can name them and play them off the top of your head. - Learn popular riffs and licks. ex. Foggy Mountain Breakdown opening. - Know Earl Scruggs. - Finger pick the shit outta your fingers, with finger picks. - No obvious Bluegrass songs. - Use thinner thumb pick while beginning.

|
Aren't you a guitar teacher?
Hehe most kids my age just want to play simple powerchord songs...
ya i teach guitar. i've only been playing for three years though, i just seemed to pick it up sooner, plus i have learned a lot of different styles so i can teach basically anything. how old are you? i always assumed i was younger than you, but after that "kids my age" statement you sound younger than i thought. |
I'm 16 and have been playing about 1 year and a bit.
|
I've just lately been understanding theory for guitar.
|
im sixteen too. i played piano for about four years, and then saxophone for a year or so, so i knew basically all theory going into guitar. when i started playing guitar, all i wanted to do is play AC/DC songs. after a few lessons my teacher got me into blues..and after about a year, i stopped bringing my electric to lessons and instead brought my acoustic, it was then i learned the art of bluegrass. its my favourite thing to play now, it seems so happy and lighthearted to me.
but i suppose this is the classic rock thread, and talking about bluegrass is a little off topic. and wait... badmoon, who did you call a b*stard. i just noticed that. |
Rock...for his new shiney stars
:p |
oh jeez i didn't notice that..what do those things mean? and how come i can't swear!!
|
Rock...for his new shiney stars
:p
*reps* ;)
oh jeez i didn't notice that..what do those things mean? and how come i can't swear!!
This site has a swear filter, methinks. Stars are just thingys that look nice after you get 1000 rep points. I never knew that there was a Yes tour a while back :(. I would have gone. *learned this from the community thread*. With Dream Theater opening just to add to the awesomeness! :( (not classic rock but, umm, cmon! yeah!). |
