Any opinions on Morrigan?
I just checked them out, I like what I hear so far. |
ildjarn is lol
|
fair enough, it's not for you. ildjarn's about raw emotion, raw hate. because it is so raw and intrusive it's hard to listen to it all in one go.
|
the blodsrit song "illdjarn" is fvcking great, even for having clean vocals in it
|
Morrigan are awesome.
|
Ildjarn has some alright stuff.

it's not that, i just don't think it's very emotive, it's just really droning and boring, to each his own and all, though |

they suck no matter what |
they suck no matter what
you are wrong |
Raw hate is pointless if the music isn't enjoyable. That's where Ildjarn fails horribly.
|
can't tell if stevie was joking or not
|
if you don't enjoy it fine. it's not exactly meant to be pleasurable, it is after all raw black metal.
Ildjarn is like Impaled Nazarene's Ugra-Karma in that it communicates raw hatred that is part of what black metal is about. But Ildjarn is even more hostile than anything else I've ever heard, and with that I think that it's more pure black metal than anything else because it is really true to it's ideas of solitude and hatred. It doesn't want to be enjoyable or acceptable. It doesn't reach out for an audience. If you like it, fine, if you don't, fine. |

well since Aakon_Keetreh decided to neg rep me for liking ildjarn, i thought i'd return the idea that musical taste is objectively right or wrong |
not that post stupid
|
Dunno if you missed it but check out Odelegger Stevie. ;)
|

|
I like Ildjarn's ambient albums.
|
I'm addicted to Satanic Ceremony right now.
np: Black Consil Of The Satan |

What other Ulver albums should I check out? I've only listened to Bergtatt.
|
Kveldssanger for a really good folk album
Nattens Madrigal for a really good, but pretty raw, black metal album. And if you want to go for some of their electronica material go for Svidd Neger or Perdition City. |
The two that come after it.
EDIT: Angmar, you fag, you beat me to it everytime |
Muchos Gracias.
|
Nattens Madrigal is rather excellent, yes.

 Are we talking about an emo band here or just another generic bm band?
if you don't enjoy it fine. it's not exactly meant to be pleasurable, it is after all raw black metal. No-one listens to and enjoys anything that isn't pleasurable. Like it or not, you obviously enjoy Ildjarn meaning that it is - PLEASURABLE. If Ildjarn is more hostile than anything you've ever heard - well, maybe you don't know enough about black metal to be posting here. |
The fact that it's not meant to be pleasurable doesn't mean that some can't find it pleasurable, even if the opposite was intended. Thus, it may be pleasurable to him, though it may have not meant to be that way by the artist. Quit arguing for the sake of arguing.
If Ildjarn is more hostile than anything you've ever heard - well, maybe you don't know enough about black metal to be posting here.
Ahh yes, he switches to elitist mode. How effective, we should all cower now before his all knowing greatness... Get over it dude. So what, he's not as almighty and skilled in elitery as you. Big fuckin' deal. |
All I was saying is that all music is pleasurable to someone. Therefore it is retarded to say 'I like this unpleasurable music' which is essentially what he was saying. Ildjarn were intending their music to be found pleasurable by some people otherwise they wouldn't have distributed it.
