The Drapery Falls - At about 6 50

Deliverance - Opening Riff

Ghost Of Perdition - The first riffs with all those octaves

Hells Bells 02-14-2006 02:37 PM
Yes indeed. This is why I absolutely love Orchid. I never get sick of any song from that album.
Oh! haha now I know who you are ;)

Favourite Riffs?

The first acoustic break in Blackwater Park, and the heavy riff with the same melody that follows it, the clean break that starts at 2:50
The intros to The Drapery Falls and Dirge for November
That spanish-type acoustic break in the Moor
The main riff in The Master's Apprentice
In the Mist She Was Standing - 8:50-9:20
Bleak...the main riff, the acoustic breaks, and that riff at the very end, the one with the fuzzy production

MidnightRider 02-14-2006 02:47 PM

Top 3 riffs:

The Leper Affinity - The very first riff
Dirge For November - The acoustic intro
Bleak - The riff where Wilson comes in on vocals.

Yes, I love BWP. :)

Top 3 Riffs:

Number 3: Even though I didn't really get into Ghost Reveries that much, one of the coolest riffs I've ever heard is on the song The Baying Of The Hounds. At around 9:44 to around 10:14. That riff is badass.

Number 2: If there was one riff I had to listen to for eternity, it would probably be the outro to Credence . At around 4:00, that riff always takes my mind and makes it wander. Great riff.

Number 1: There are so many to choose from, but I think the acoustic riff on Black Rose Immortal at around 9:43 takes the spot for me. That is seriously the most beautiful acoustic riff I've ever heard.

Stormrider 02-14-2006 07:02 PM

There are a lot of good riffs in Black Rose Immortal. But if I remember correctly which riff you're talking about, then yes that is a beautiful acoustic riff.

/will put on Black Rose Immortal after A Question of Heaven.

TojesDolan 02-14-2006 07:18 PM

Riuffz!1!!

Number one: I like The leper Affinity intro, it's quite teh evile, great sounding riff. Probably one of my favoritest riffs out of Blackwater Park.

Number two: The intro to Wreath. Very... yeah!

Number three: Let me think of one... In "face of Melinda", the acoustic part before the chorus, after the verse finishes... Pretty amazing.

Oh yeah, a while ago. It's satisfying playing along with it all the way through. I haven't played with it for a while though, I've been practicing Symbolic, almost to Misanthrope.

N.P. Furnace Funeral ~ Bloodbath

NP - To Bid You Farewell
I know the majority of the song, About half the song but both guitar parts. I usually learn a riff from that song like once every two weeks.
I can't right now because when i bought strings, There was only 5 in there. So i was thinking meh, at least i bought two packs. I opened up the 2nd pack and the same string was missing. The nearest place i could buy strings is an hour away.

I'm at the 14 minute mark.

Misanthrope ?

To Aphotic: I didnt learn both guitar parts. I switch guitars every now and then. So it's not like always guitar 1 for example.

Acidflux 02-14-2006 07:44 PM
I'm at the 14 minute mark.

Misanthrope ?
Yeah, it's track #8 off of the Death album Symbolic. I'm almost done with Crystal Mountain. Working on the leads. Just as far as playing along with songs. After that, I'm going to My Arms, Your Hearse. :)

Darkness 02-14-2006 07:46 PM

I'll just say my number one.

The main electric riff in Face Of Melinda. :D

TojesDolan 02-14-2006 07:47 PM
Three Parts that give me the chills

3.Windowpane - solo
Specific?

My guess is that you like the last one.

Oh, you're learning a whole Death album ?

After Back Rose Immortal, I've thought of maybe learning Advent...still not sure.

The pre-chorus guitars? Yeah, that's a cool riff. I especially like the outro to Face Of Melinda. It's mesmerizing.
Oh, you're learning a whole Death album ?
Haha trying to man, the solos are working me. :p

Deth 02-14-2006 07:51 PM

Advent is so fun on bass. We should cover it.

Stormrider 02-14-2006 07:53 PM
Haha trying to man, the solos are working me. :p
Hehe, I'm not a lead person. So I only learn a solo that I realy realy like...with out it being too hard.

And Deth, who would do vocals ? :p

/goes looks at Advent tab.

EDIT: Crap, something is wrong with 911tabs..

Deth 02-14-2006 07:58 PM

I have a cool tab I can send you if you would like.

I could give vocals a try, I'm alright with the old Opeth style.

Stormrider 02-14-2006 08:00 PM

Is it a power tab ?

If so I'de apreciate it but I don't have powertab editor yet because I'm using my new computer...so theres nothign on it yet, and I have to wait before I do anything. Thanks though.

And thats cool. I suck at growling...or at singing in general for that matter :p

Deth 02-14-2006 08:02 PM

Months of tearing my throat apart have helped my growling immensely. I still can't hit the ultra-low growls, but I can make my way through a song like The Moor.

Crysiss 02-14-2006 08:04 PM
Specific?

I forgot there was two solos for a bit lol. Yes, the clean solo is beautiful
Months of tearing my throat apart have helped my growling immensely. I still can't hit the ultra-low growls, but I can make my way through a song like The Moor.
I read an interview from a death metal singer and he said that your throat shouldn't be hurting when your growling.
And his pointers for getting extra low growls is drinking milk with honey in it i think.

Deth 02-14-2006 08:08 PM

It doesn't hurt anymore, but when I started it hurt like a bitch. I'm probably doing something wrong, but whatever.

Acidflux 02-14-2006 08:09 PM
It doesn't hurt anymore, but when I started it hurt like a bitch. I'm probably doing something wrong, but whatever.
Do you smoke?

Deth 02-14-2006 08:11 PM

Hells no. I'm 100% clean.

No need to tell me I'm doing it all wrong, I know :p.
