Meatplow 01-02-2010 01:45 AM

eww

I dislike the image of that band enough to actually not want to check them out. I will eventually though.

I like his more bouncy stuff especially Lost Generation and Elysium. His collabs with DMO rock too. Not toooo into his gabba work.

Jaundice 01-02-2010 01:50 AM

i don't like them specifically

they have at least two good songs, i've always liked this one

is this Neue Deutsche Härte? I thought they were some EBM business

Jaundice 01-02-2010 01:54 AM

"Neue Deutsche Todeskunst" according to wiki

Meatplow 01-02-2010 01:55 AM

wtf is that, i'm learning a new obscure industrial subgenre every day

my current favourite is probably death industrial, all the PE bands i've heard described as this are awesome

Jaundice 01-02-2010 01:56 AM

a rough translation appears to be New German Death Art.

what does the one you mentioned mean?

Meatplow 01-02-2010 01:59 AM

atmospheric, dense, metallic, lots of drones and screaming vocals from what I gather, stuff like Genocide Organ, Sutcliffe Jügend and Brighter Death Now seem to get tagged with it.

most of it overlaps with other power electronics subgenres but idk, it sounds cool

Jaundice 01-02-2010 02:01 AM

its pretty easy to throw the word death in front of something and make a new sub genre

i should make a Pink and Yellow follow up band and call it Death Awkward Pop

Meatplow 01-02-2010 02:03 AM

deathkraut is a genre I would one day like to see

Jaundice 01-02-2010 02:05 AM

would be legendary

i vaguely remember there might have been a time when i was thinking about working on some sort of thing called Industrial Death Pop.

Meatplow 01-02-2010 02:11 AM

I remember you saying that as well

heiling some Monte Cazazza right now. do you also find Tiny Tears one of the most irritating things ever?

Jaundice 01-02-2010 02:13 AM

I get it stuck in my head some times so apparently it's catchy

Meatplow 01-02-2010 02:14 AM

its pretty much just another Throbbing Gristle release

Jaundice 01-02-2010 02:16 AM

I find all the all the stuff at the end of the disc that are closer to conventional song structures to be annoying

Meatplow 01-02-2010 02:17 AM

some of the post-punk stuff I heard was pretty cool

I usually don't stick around that long though

Jaundice 01-02-2010 02:25 AM

yeah i usually just listen to the dumb sound collages that are like little kids crying with gunshots ringing out in the back ground

Meatplow 01-02-2010 02:28 AM

so deviant

have you finished the Industrial Culture Handbook yet?

Jaundice 01-02-2010 02:29 AM

i've only read like two or three pages so far honestly, i have a hard time with books

ill probaby dig in soon tho

Meatplow 01-02-2010 02:32 AM

I read the whole thing in a week probably.

Not a lot of it really struck me as all that interesting back then (I didn't know any of these artists and didn't really listen to industrial music) but sometimes I pick it up and read it on the toilet :p

Nepenthe 01-02-2010 04:09 AM

haz what the best new wave be?

Meatplow 01-02-2010 04:45 AM

idk what you've heard but I like the following -

Devo - Freedom of Choice
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Strawberry Switchblade - Strawberry Switchblade
Orange Juice - Rip It Up
Grauzone - Eisbaer
Blondie - Blondie

i'm more into the post punk side of things, new wave seems to be an interchangeable term with it though. this is some of the happier, more upbeat stuff

1338 h4x0r 01-02-2010 05:54 AM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrQRokzaCgY

the razor blades inside my soul
inside my soul

lol

ive heard next to nothing. im lookin for darker (as much as the word can be applied to the genre) stuff, like the more atmospheric stuff with the air-y vocals. the only cd ive really got from the genre is josef k and its a little more upbeat than im looking for.

Jaundice 01-02-2010 11:32 AM

Remain in Light is gay, get the self-titled .

Jaundice 01-02-2010 11:39 AM

Theoretically it almost seems like it ceases to become new wave and becomes no wave or post-punk once there's a dark element, but I'm sure there are exceptions.

Try Suicide's debut, if you haven't.

Nepenthe 01-02-2010 11:52 AM

idk i just want to hear some synthed out **** that isnt too fast paced or upbeat with the airy atmospheric almost monotone vocals. like, depeche mode maybe? dark wave i guess the music is called im looking for.

Jaundice 01-02-2010 11:54 AM

there's enough monotony on this for two albums , if i recall correctly

Nepenthe 01-02-2010 11:57 AM

ill check it out. but yeah i guess 'dark wave' is what im looking for.

Meatplow 01-02-2010 04:00 PM

Chris & Cosey - Heartbeat

gloomy synthpop, can't remember any vocals though
Remain in Light is gay
die in a house fire

Jaundice 01-02-2010 04:02 PM

i have more talking heads and david byrne material than you

Meatplow 01-02-2010 04:03 PM

you do

but Remain In Light is ****ing awesome

Jaundice 01-02-2010 04:04 PM

it's a great record, i just don't see why every one thinks it's their crowning acheivement
