Anyway, new mix everybody. I spent 2+ hours trying to eliminate the snare drum buzz while playing other toms (on the actual drums with tuning, not on the recording) and as you can hear i failed.
http://www.davidzych.com/marc/drumsAfterMonitors.mp3 And yes, i know that i sped up in the middle, do i care?
Could somebody (especially etp2, chippy, seafroggys) take a listen to this? |

and fishbulb everything sounds good except for your snare imo. It sounds like the snares are too loose, i dont like the tuning either. It would sound better if it was tighter imo. |

(hopefully within the next 4 years) Don't know anything about bike's other than it's a 600cc. Has a Kick *** paint job (since I was a child I dreamed of owning Yellow and Black on a bike) And can go damn Fast Of it's the Yamaha R6 too, and they only cost about 6,000 new. that's actualyl affoardable. And here's what I currently ride. It's got allt he power and gets all the ladies. It's a 1984 Honda Elite 150. This scooter can do over 100KM on flat ground. for a scooter. That's DAMN fast. but it's also got a 150 engine. I love it. never getting rid of it haha. well there we have it! White just avoided studying for his math exam! |
New meshuggah album is pretty sweet.

My mind and vagina are separate entities, each with divisive sexual identities.

It would sound better if it was tighter imo.
Like i said, i spent 2+ hours trying to get rid of it and it didn't really help. The tom mics alone sound really great, they have a round, warm sound out of the toms and with noise gates they don't make any excess noise when they aren't being played. Sadly that good tone gets killed by the large amount of stick slap that my overheads pick up. I'll try using I'm not a big fan of muffling but there was a noticeable ring after i hit the snare drum so i taped a piece of cymbal felt so it is resting on the batter head and it seems to cut the ringing to a tolerable (if not unnoticeable) volume. Noise gating the snare drum isn't exactly a good idea and my overheads pick up the snare buzz anyway so i'll keep messing around with tunings and other possible ways of taking away the snare buzz. |
READ MY THREADZ AHAHA
Sorry, bored. :( |
Did, check back there.
Also i answered your question, now you listen to this for me: http://www.davidzych.com/marc/drumsAfterMonitors.mp3 . |
Sounds like one of 'em "drum kitz".
|
I'm thinking about reading Anna Karenina.
|
My friend thought it was called "27 Dresses Later", and was making zombie jokes whenever his girlfriend talked about it.
He just found out today it's not actually called that, and realized he's sounded like an idiot for days. |

For some odd reason your snare seems kinda weak. Do you compress it at all? Might be a good idea if you did. Its hard to tell outside the context of your music, but I can guess that your toms might be lost in a mix. Just a guess though. Didn't notice a lot of high end slap. The actual tone is good though. |
My snare drum sounded better before i tried retuning it to kill all of the buzzing. I'll have to readjust either the tuning or the EQ to make it sound better again. And yes i do have some compression on it.
I'm also really happy with the kick drum, sounds powerful and focussed. |
fishbulb, recording sounds pretty good, nice and spacey, but not nearly enough presence, if you get what I mean? How many microphones were used?
|
I think I'm going to quit my band and maybe join another band playing bass.
My band's going nowhere, and we never get together. And this other band is (I think still) looking for a bassist and seems like a fun band to play with. I used to play with the drummer, she's pretty good. |
good body, face not so much. hittable i suppose, but not too high on my list.
