241, sweeeet!

Anyways, John suggested we play Sixpounder together after we're done with the Metallica cover. If we do, I'll post it on this thread. :thumb:

hethamulburton 07-09-2005 03:44 PM

kick *** put her on here

Thor 07-09-2005 03:48 PM

If I may make a suggestion, Bodom Beach Terror would be an awesome cover.
Taste_my_Scythe is a she, and she mainly devotes her posting between this and the community thread.
A she? That puts a whole new spin on things. I don't think I've ever posted in the community thread so that would explain it.
Don't post like that because you do know that it is just stupid.
Good point. I would hate to be thought of as one of those guys that...you know...posts really stupid, pointless posts.

Yep. Comes as a shock to many that I'm a girl. And a metalhead. Who loves Children of Bodom.

Mkay; my turn.

Something Wild: 9.0
Highs: Lake Bodom, both the Red Light in my Eyes, Silent Scream (Slayer cover)
Lows: In the Shadows; for some reason I can't get into the entire song. I love the riffs on it though.

Hatebreeder: 10
Highs: Bed of Razors, Silent Night, Bodom Night, Children of Bodom
Lows: Wrath Within

Tokyo Warhearts: 9.0
Highs: Lake Bodom, Silent Night, Bodom Night
Lows: I agree with DeathToPopPunk's "I wasn't there. :upset: "

Follow the Reaper: 10
Highs: Everything
Lows: Hellion; not my favorite cover

Hate Crew Deathroll: 9.0
Highs: Needled 24/7, Lil' Bloodred Ridinghood, You're Better Off Dead, Hate Crew Deathroll
Lows: the style change. Awesome album, just not the same.

Trashed Lost & Strungout: 6.0
Highs: Bed of Nails (\m/), Trashed, Lost and Strungout
Lows: the AWK cover; it cracks me up. Knuckleduster isn't that great.

I thought eveyone knew by now

hethamulburton 07-09-2005 04:01 PM

It's not really suprising that girls like metal. My friends are metalheads, and I impose a serious metal influence on the girls of my high school. Thrash is good, and then i always switch back to hard rock and blues, to cool down a bit, and take an Asprin or two. I'm male by the way, and Single :naughty: :naughty: .

Taste_My_Scythe 07-09-2005 04:03 PM

So did I, but obviously not.

 Go.....jump off a cliff or something.

Thor 07-09-2005 04:05 PM

^^^
Here, I'll do my version of that.

Something Wild - 10/10
Good Songs: Deadnight Warrior, Red Light in My Eyes Part 1, Lake Bodom

Hatebreeder - 9/10
Good Songs - Warheart, Bed of Razors, Black Widow

Follow The Reaper - 8/10
Good Songs: Follow The Reaper, Children of Decadence, Taste of My Scythe

Hatecrew Deathroll - 9/10
Good songs - Chokehold (Cocked n Loaded), Bodom Beach Terror, Angels Don't Kill

Thrashed, Lost, and Strungout - 6/10
Good Songs - Thrashed Lost and Strungout, Kunckeduser
I just didn't enjoy the covers.

hethamulburton 07-09-2005 04:05 PM

I was just kidding. Is Bodom coming to America soon.

IheartSP 07-09-2005 04:08 PM

 Yeah, but how do you know I'm hot? You guys are such guys. :p

Back to Bodom, dudes.

So if you could do one cover from each of the Bodom albums, what would it be? Mind you; not the cover you can play, but the ones you would really like to play. I'll start.

Something Wild: Lake Bodom
Hatebreeder: Since I'm already learning Bed of Razors, I'll say another one. Silent Night, Bodom Night
Follow the Reaper: Taste of my Scythe
Hate Crew Deathroll: Needled 24/7 is tied with Chokehold

Squirrel 07-09-2005 04:23 PM
Haha yeah, I can't think of a death metal band I don't like.
Hate Eternal

IheartSP 07-09-2005 04:26 PM

I'd like to cover Lake Bodom from Something Wild. Towards Dead End for Hatebreeder becuase it's such a **** hard song. Kissing the Shadows for FtR because that song makes me want to cream my pants, and probably Needled 24/7 for hcdr.

As far as songs I know, I only know 1.5 Bodom solos and a helluva lot of riffs and leads. half the leads I have trouble with though, moreso than the solos.

I haven't learned any Bodom solos yet; need the new guitar for that. Kissing the Shadows is a great song.

IheartSP 07-09-2005 04:31 PM

I know the solo in Silent Night, Bodom Night

I also know half the solo to Warheart, cuase I usually learn solos in pieces and I think I forgot about that one after a while.

What kind of guitar do you have and which one do you plan on getting?

I have a Fender Squire (Strat version; because it has the whammy bar) and I plan on getting a Jackson Dinky DXMG w/ 24 frets.

IheartSP 07-09-2005 04:35 PM

Oh man you have a Squire, I feel so bad for you.

The DXMG is a great guitar go for it. I own the KE-3. I suggest putting in an EMG 85 in the bridge, it'll make it sound 10x better. People on the guitar forum always crapped on me for having 1 pickup, but hey Alexi does it, and I think a bridge pickup sounds great.

What kind of amp do you have?

The DXMG is a badass guitar. I have a DKMG (which is the same basic thing but with a few premium features) and it's incredible. 24 frets, active EMGs, 'tis wonderful. It also has a TurboCharger and through my amp (which has **** high gain) I can get some amazing metal tones. Though I usualy gravitate towards a very trebley tone like Alexi's.

Awesome. I can't wait to get it. I found it for 401 bucks online, but I still need to test it out before I buy. I'm sure I'll love it, but I'd still feel better if I'd play it first. I only have....$92 saved up. Christ, I've got a looong way to go.

I don't know about anyone else, but Jacksons always fit me like a glove. It's always good to play one before you buy one of course.

Do you have a job or something, or do you just take and save all the cash you can get.
So did I, but obviously not.
:upset: Ouch, c'mon guys (and girls, apparently). It's not like I've met any of you in person or anything, and I do have a life outside these forums.

Jesus, Leah (I think that's your name, isn't it?) mentions she's a girl and everyone goes crazy. Chill people.

Anyway, i'm currently working on learning the rest of Silent Night, Bodom Night on guitar.

Yeah, I've never tried one, so I'm hoping it works out ok.
Do you have a job or something, or do you just take and save all the cash you can get.
I don't have a steady job; working for people off an on and cleaning my parent's car for 10 bucks every other week. I just save up any money I get.

Dude, I just saw your profile; you really like the HateCrew, don't you? :p

Hell yeah. Diehard Children of Bodom fan.

So let's hear it from the disgruntled musicians. Is there anyone here besides me who struggles to improve at guitar but still isn't quite good enough to "shred"? I can play many of Bodom's lead parts, I don't bother with their chord-based riffs, but I can play zero solos (aside from the ones I'm slowly working on). Someone please tell me I'm not one mediocre guitarist in a thread full of shredders.

I'm with you there. I can only play the rhythm to Sixpounder and some of the riffs to Chokehold and Bed of Razors and such. I haven't learned any solos and some of the stuff is just plain hard. GuitarPro helps me a lot though.

I'm mediocre as well. Can't play hardly any solos, howver I'm working at improv shredding and getting ok at it. I just need to learn more scales. Hey everyone  .

Still at everything done but the solo. I'll be working on it a bit tonight, and lots tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get it to Ollie by Monday or Tuesday. Man, Subway is so damn good.

Good to know. Thanks for reassuring me, people. It sounds like most of us are equals. But with my newly acquired transcribing device I find I can tab out any song and play it at verying speeds...but I still have to start slow. Deadnight Warrior, here I come.

stringbreaker 07-09-2005 05:14 PM

I've just been getting into COB.
And I completely dig their ****.
Angels don't kill has been in steady rotation because it's my favorite song by them.
Recommend me some more of their stuff.

IheartSP 07-09-2005 05:15 PM

I'd say I'm a shredder. Anyone who wants to hear me just IM me on AIM. I have yahoo but I never go on unless someone wants to do a jam.

Leah do you just practice without distortion? I suggest you buy a cheap practice amp with a nice metal tone. I own a Roland Cube Micro for practice and portability, it is great. It is 3 watts, overpowers a drumset by way more than you'd imagine, and has a few amp models, including a very nice dual rect.

Just get anything from their Follow The Reaper album to hear them at their best. But if you liked Angels Don't Kill I also recommend anything else from Hate Crew Deathroll. Anything, just get anything, man.
