i don't remember exactly, i think we paid a little over 200 bucks plus shipping.

DaveSavesTheDay 04-16-2009 10:19 PM

Oh, that's actually pretty reasonable.

:amaze: 04-16-2009 10:25 PM

we paid to have it rushed which was a bit more, but we've got 3 shows in the next 2 weeks.

split 4 ways it still wasn't bad though.

TimJim 04-16-2009 10:31 PM

DaveSavesTheDay 04-16-2009 10:44 PM
I started reading The Hitchhikier's Guide To The Galaxy today. It's had me laughing a ridiculous amount.
Ha ha, it is an awesome book.

FunkMetalBass 04-17-2009 09:29 AM

Agreed. I'm almost through it for a third time.

The part with the whale and petunias cracks me up every time.

Steve, you're up early (or late).

FunkMetalBass 04-17-2009 09:36 AM

In other news, I'm only 12 posts away from an awesome post count.

EDIT: 11

TimJim 04-17-2009 09:37 AM

BenJammin 04-17-2009 09:41 AM

Jesus christ, almost finished my take home exam that's due in 1 hour, 20 minutes.

I have not slept. That's two all nighters in a week. Huzzah!

But not really.

Efrim 04-17-2009 09:42 AM

I finished my Russian exam, and I'm about to go hand in my take-home exam.
WHICH I FINISHED A WEEK AGO.

TimJim 04-17-2009 09:43 AM

Ha ha, I loved that part too, felt sorry for the bemused whale. :p

It is 16:41 here, I just have the day off and decided to come on here for a bit for a wee break.

I've decided that I'm not gonna study music after all. Job opportunities are just not stable enough and I'd rather not have to become a music teacher for a high school or something and not even earn great money.

Instead I am gonna study Japanese and work towards becoming a translator, you can earn pretty decent cash that way, especially if you work on written materials.

Up to much today?

Go teach English in Japan.

TimJim 04-17-2009 09:45 AM
Go teach English in Japan.
Nah, I thought about that, the money is relatively poor plus you don't even need to know much Japanese to teach english which is kinda crazy. You would teach people who would be intermediate students and are at the stage where you could teach them purely in english but using at first simple language, just like how kids from english countries learn in a way.

If you learn the language well there are plenty of well paying opportunities out there.

Mandarin is not easier than Japanese, definitely not! Mandarin is a tonal language consisting of 8 different tones if I remember right and a sentence can vary meaning in huge ways depending on specific intonation on certain words far more so than changing your intonation in an English sentence would.

Japanese on the other hand is not a tonal language and has less sounds than english does and has relatively flexible grammar. I actually find it relatively easy to earn.

Not really. Just work, band practice, and hopefully picking up this Boss RC-2 that's on CL. It's $130, but it's in brand new condition and comes with the power supply, so it's not bad. Shame the last guy with the $90 RC-2 sold it before I even saw his ad.

I'm really excited to use this looper in a band scenario. There are a few breakdowns and bridges that we have that feel empty with a low A0 being played and the guitar squeeling high with nothing in the midrange. Figure it'll allow me to keep that nice low bass going while I play some delayed notes in the midrange and allw some rhthmically complex work to shine through.

I still have yet to really use that program that you send me the link to, but now that I don't have mandatory overtime this weekend, I can start plugging some physics equations and geometry axioms into place. Sweet.

Sup dude. How goes it?

:amaze: 04-17-2009 10:13 AM

oh i'm doing alright. got a show tomorrow night, looking forward to that. it's at a pretty sweet venue with some decently popular bands, from what it looks like.

my phone just broke, though. well, it's been broke for a while, but it finally died.

Hmm, sounds like the looper could be used in quite an interesting way. Sounds like it would be a bugger to organise in the middle of a tune though.

Anki is awesome, such an efficient way of learning tons of stuff quickly.

FunkMetalBass 04-17-2009 10:21 AM

I can't wait until we have our first show with this band. All the lineup and song changes though are just pushing everything back. We'd planned originally to start playing out by early March, but times is tough and now we're planning on early July. :upset:

I wish my phone would die. When my last one bit the bullet (aka death by SUV running it over), I was phoneless for 2 weeks. It was actually rather nice not having that leash. When cell phones become obsolete, I will cheer. Then we can use tesla coils to send free electricity via the air. Awesoem.

I don't think it would be that hard to get the timing correct on the loop. Especially because I have a 4-bar bass break in which I'll have time to record the loop before I start playing around.

Ah, good stuff. I am looking forward to hearing the thing when you get round to recording it. I think you guys might have one of your first Scottish fans. :p

Scotland Pride ftw.

I'm actually 25% Scottish, the Clan McInnes. I bought me a kilt (made in Scotland) with my clan tartan a couple years back, along with a sporin, brogues, and all that other good semi-formal stuff.

When we get the first album or EP recorded, I might just have to send you a copy (free of charge as I'm certain I still owe you some $$ for the initial gram of Skunk).
