Yeah, even the artwork of that album is inspired in Blood Meridian.

Txus 10-13-2009 07:30 PM

Which other Mountain Goats album should I get? I already have The Sunset Tree and All Hail West Texas.

Mitch?

Tyler 10-13-2009 08:06 PM

Tallahassee

illmitch 10-13-2009 08:23 PM

which do you prefer out of the two? if you like All Hail West Texas more, i'd go for Ghana next - it's more lo-fi stuff. if you prefer Sunset Tree, go for Tallahassee

Txus 10-13-2009 08:25 PM

I'll go with Tallahassee then :)

Thanks

Deth 10-13-2009 09:57 PM

I'm in Tallahassee now sup

anything around that sounds like Blue Sky Black Death or Metaform?

Txus 10-13-2009 10:09 PM

Deadelus
Mr. Cooper
Dela
Emancipator

there's hardly anything that sounds like Blue Sky Black Death tbh, Mr. Cooper and Emancipator sound like Metaform quite a bit, Dela sounds like BSBD from time to time but he uses way more hip hop beats. Mr. Cooper is like a more energetic Metaform.

Meatplow 10-15-2009 04:07 AM

What's some nice celtic folk style stuff that isn't celtic folk (lets say, celtic flavoured) I should be looking into?

A good example is The Pogues, also some Current 93 tracks lean towards that style. No modern folk punk like Flogging Molly or anything like that please.

Never heard 40 Winks either, will check it out.

ATM 10-15-2009 09:53 AM

Glad you liked it dude. I love the song "Dust Ritual."

Txus 10-15-2009 10:05 AM

I'm listening to Heavy Migration album right now and this is fantastic.

ATM 10-15-2009 10:14 AM

Get Loop Extensions next. That album is sick.

Txus 10-15-2009 10:21 AM

Will do, I'm also getting two 40 Winks albums. This Dday One reminds me of Clutchy Hopkins.

rid 10-17-2009 05:05 AM

haha funny, I just started listening to dday one a couple weeks ago. awesome stuff.

I'm kinda stuck musicially......just need something to jump out and kick my ***

genre really isn't relevant, something amazing I haven't heard of

She wants it now,
And she will not wait.
But she's too rough,
And I'm too delicate.

Then, on the sand
Another man, he takes her hand.
A smile lights up her stupid face.
(and well, it would)

I lost my faith in Womanhood
I lost my faith in Womanhood
I lost my faith ...

Well I don't know much about your taste but:

Camel - Moonmadness (Prog/folk rock)
KMFDM - Nihil (Industrial Rock)
KTL - IV (Drone)

edit: and agree with Haz on Foetus. Heil.

witchxrapist 10-17-2009 07:58 PM

Demigod - Slumber Of Sullen Eyes

The Feeding 10-17-2009 09:32 PM

DBlitz 10-17-2009 09:34 PM

rasputin 10-17-2009 10:48 PM
so i blasted Earth and ASVA yesterday, and then downloaded a bunch of other Earth full lengths I didn't have. can someone give me a whole bunch of drone recs, classics in genre/personal favourites/whatever, i dont mind if they're metal based or not, or psychadelic based, as long as theyre good. and dont ****ign say nadja or anything related to aidan baker
Ventriloquist 10-18-2009 05:05 AM

Loscil - Plume
The Dead Texan - The Dead Texan
KTL - IV
William Basinski & Richard Chartier - Untitled 1 - 3
Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet

I'm not sure about your drone knowledge Berkay but these are some of my favs(Non Nadja).

rasputin 10-18-2009 05:11 AM

sagol abi, i'll check those out

i haven't really dug that deep into the genre yet, i've got stuff liek earth, nadja, aidan baker+tim hecker, swans, asva, sunn, and a variety of psychadelic/free folk, then i got some more stuff today like natural snow buildings and menace ruine.

rid 10-18-2009 08:36 AM

mmm burial chamber trio

rasputin 10-18-2009 08:38 AM

yah ive got them, self titled and wvrm

Txus 10-18-2009 11:10 AM

Murat's list is pretty great, I would add:

Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement Of The Decline
Oren Ambarchi - Grapes From the Estate
Keith Fullerton Whitman - Multiples
Kevin Drumm - Sheer Hellish Miasma (one of the few albums that makes me feel completely nihilistic).

these are all non metal related because drone metal is boring as **** and there only like 3 good bands in the whole genre. i think you would like those, berkay :)

Ventriloquist 10-18-2009 11:20 AM

Forgot about Stars of the Lid and Oren Ambarchi. The Dead Texan is the same guy from SOTL tho. I need to check the last two, haven't heard of them.

Nepenthe 10-18-2009 11:24 AM
