I just got Like an Ever Flowing Stream. :D
*Gives a listen* I'm also getting some Dark Angel and Overkill, for the lols. |
Breakdowns don't define genres though. This is an age old debate; we just got done with it in the metalcore thread. Just because something has breakdowns doesn't mean it has "core" anything in it. Breakdowns are prevailant in all subgenres of metal.
JFAC doesn't use breakdowns, so why are we debating their Death Metal-ness. |
Lets not even get into that ok.
|
Because they down-tune.
|
JFAC doesn't use breakdowns, so why are we debating their Death Metal-ness.
We're not. We're debating the DM-ness of All Shall Perish. @tojes:  . |
According to Wikipedia:
"All Shall Perish is a 5-piece deathcore band from Oakland, California formed in 2002. All Shall Perish combines various genres, including death metal, deathgrind, metalcore, and sludge metal." |
I must be the only one to actually 100% agree with dargon. This "core" crap in the DM thread is a bit ridiculous.
Then stop being some whiny fucking little shit wit 15 year old that only comes in here to say something negative about the topics that go on in this thread and contribute by posting about bands or topics you deem to be proper for the threads intent. Either shut the fuck up with your bitching or actually contribue you stupid fucking wanker. Tojes - Like An Everflowing Stream is a quality album, And So Is Life and In Death's Sleep are my favorites off the album. NP - Bolt Thrower - The Shreds OF Sanity been listening to these guys alot lately, mainly this album and Realm of Chaos. |
So that means they are unsure of who they are.
Tojes - Like An Everflowing Stream is a quality album, And So Is Life and In Death's Sleep are my favorites off the album.
Yeah I'm about to unzip the new music I got this week, thank you. :- D |
God, they're fucking DM, get over it people. They happen to have some other influences. Jesus. And it's standard New American DM, so it's going to sound different than fucking Amon Amarth or whatever.

Kiddies thinking gravity blasts make a band death metal. Gravity blasts are for wiggers to bust out da sikkest nu moves 2 dem. |
Way to misinterperet what people say and then use it against them, man.
Can you fucking read? |
I need to get Like An Ever Flowing Stream.
|
Your never going to win in an argument with him, your just wasting time.
|
Like an Everflowing Stream is great stuff, and is actually worth being talked about in here. Unlike 95% of the bands talked about on the previous page.
|
I liked it but it was a bit linear.
|
I still havn't gotten to absorb Left Hand Path in it's complete and total form yet.
|
I still havn't gotten to absorb Left Hand Path in it's complete and total form yet.
That's unfortunate. That's an excellent album. Listen now. |
That's unfortunate. That's an excellent album. Listen now.
No, I've listened to it like 3 times, but it takes a little time and a few more listens for it to sink in with me. |
I've had a problems similar with Carnage's Dark Recollections.
I need to give it another few listens. I keep getting bored with it. |
That's unfortunate. That's an excellent album. Listen now.
^^^ Yes, Rice is totally correct. It is a throughly enjoyable listen. NP: Demilich - The Planet That Once Used To Absorb Flesh In Order To Achieve Divinity And Immortality (Suffocated To The Flesh That It Desired...) At 2:22 in this song, there is one of the best riffs I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. As Dargon would say "brillant riffcraft" ha ha. |
Music is a lot easier to find nowadays so to a small degree, I actually agree with Dargon. It's become so easy to find, that people lose some of the appreciation for it. 10-15 years ago it was a lot harder to come across really good bands because the internet wasn't in wide use. You had to depend on word of mouth, small little fanzines, trades...things like that and because of the effort put forth, the music was worth a lot more to people. People were a lot more appreciative of it.
And unsurprisingly I agree with you and Dargon. Do people really appreciate music when they're downloading 10 albums a day? Do they really LISTEN to it? Do they have the same anticipation as they would if they were waiting for the postman to come to deliver a battered old manilla envelope containing a trade from a guy from the other side of the world who'd actually taken the time and effort to tape something and post it to you? Is it just background music to their latest internet battles? Or is listening to music an activity in itself? Do they savour every lyric, drum fill, solo, riff and bass lick? Do they try to understand the concepts behind the music? Do they invite their mates round for pissed up listening parties? Man I feel sorry for the metal youth of today. |
Do you feel that the internet has been responsible for disunity in the diminishing "scene" because any old person can order from the internet and get it and never be part of any "scene"?
I think it's too easy to wish great knowlege of metal before time - so people get a good knowlege of hundreds of bands without really listening to the music. Tell me please Jondur, as one who was around 15 years ago in the scene and not in nappies, (or who knows?) what "rate" of buying new material you did? |
I have to admit, I am guilty of often downloading too much **** like a hyper kid. but I try to listen to it all at least once, unless it's total shitcore or something. When something is sitting right there and you can download it in like 2 minutes, it's hard to resist even when you know you won't have time to listen to it.
At 2:22 in this song, there is one of the best riffs I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. As Dargon would say "brillant riffcraft" ha ha.
I haven't listened to that in literally years, gonna do so today. |
I only download stuff I really can't find, now. I gave up 'casual' downloading a long time ago, partly because I just would never get around to listening to a lot of things if I downloaded them, but also because I much prefer actually owning things. I've always collected something, and music's been the something for quite some time now.
That said, I still buy too much too quick to listen to it a lot of the time. But I'm working on that. |
The internet has definantly changed how people appreciate music. I can still remember the lyrics to just about all the CD's I had growing up, and now that I have so much music I'm unfamiliar with a lot of it.
