you mean the video for the song they wrote when they were 16? if so, they did the video for these colours because it was the biggest (and worst) song off the EP, so they filmed the video to promote the re-release of said EP. You might want to notice the "2004" at the end of it. "Plateful of Our Dead" off Kezia basically apologized for the dilettantisms of the EP anyways.

the vocals aren't really layered at all on the new record and the music isnt even the same genre so i really dont know what you're going on about. by all means dislike the new stuff but you dont have to be so blatantly ignorant about it.

i mean, i enjoy pop-punk that plays around with metalcore. i enjoy metalcore. i enjoy when bands growl for no reason, i mean i like 'The Silent Circus'.

this just.. has really no purpose of existing. it isn't fun music, it isn't interesting music, i don't really understand any of the praising.

it is like if The Red Chord met Coheed and Cambria after they released In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3.. it is just, i don't comprehend all of the praise being thrown at this band.

But saying that a song off the EP they wrote at 16, something leaning more towards punk and post-hardcore, sounds like what they're writing now, which is more or less just metal, is a ridiculous statement. There's more that's changed than "vocal layering" and tapping. Rody actually going through puberty was one of those things.

And you can say it's not fun. You can say it doesnt interest you. Those are valid claims. But their fans see it the other way around, and that's why they're popular. I don't really get what's so hard to understand about it.

The EP threw in some Maiden style riffs but that was really the extend of it. Fortress on the other hand is a bunch of different influences thrown into a metal melting pot. The influences include punk and post-hardcore, that doesn't make it a metalcore album, or a "punk and post hardcore" album playing around with metalcore. It's still just a metal album.

Pixies also don't know the difference between metalcore and metal with breakdowns, so yeah, just saying.

Yay I finally have this.

Sh!t this guy can growl and sing very high. Thats what I hated about Keiza - is annoying singing voice. I'm only on the second track and wow he has improved. Music is still very interesting.

The vocals are pretty diverse on Fortress. Much better than Kezia by far.

Nah don't worry it was a harmless argument, I like to argue in the same way that you do, ie: be confrontational.

Listening to Fortress through my proper lush headphones, oh my god it's amazing. Everything is in such clear detail, I can pick up little rumblings and stuff I couldn't hear before, amazing amazing amazing.

this is a great album, another solid one for Protest The Hero.

Okay, so like, I started listening to these guys like a bit over a week ago when they had the myspace thing going on... I really dig them.

I got kezia and Fortress on the same day...


Kezia is just so much more memorable if you're not FOCUSING solely on the music. Fortress seems to blend together a bit.

BOTH are fantastic and I doubt whatever they choose to do next will be able to live up to these.


But I REALLY like kezia. it just feels more emotional and pure.

i havnt heard enough of fortress to make a judgement yet, i still have yet to get it
