Im going to see Trivium tonight in Detroit with In Flames, Zao, and Devil Driver. Trivium is really the only band i like out of those other bands. but it should be a great show. I think Trivium kicks ***. :)
Have fun at the show dude :) Have they already played in Nashville? I was goin' to try to hook my band and another local band up with a spot on that show if there was a spot open...but meh, oh well.

/new video

Why choose "Dying In Your Arms"? blah...it's such a weak song in my opinion. Good, catchy, but weak.

It's because they know how to market themselves, the past couple of singles have marketed them out to the trendier/more open minded(both fit) melodic death metal listeners, thrash listeners, and 'metalcore' listeners, now they're reaching to the 'emo' and 'punk' kids.

playguitar 02-12-2006 12:54 AM

I saw Trivium's performance at the download festival on youtube and it was pretty terrible. The singer didn't sing the clean parts and when he did they were a couple octaves down. The musicianship was kind of sloppy too, especially the second solo, it sounded like a mess of noise.

nowitzki 02-12-2006 06:49 AM

The performance was in no way terrible, they were very good. They put on a great show and had amazing stage presence, especially when you consider how young they are. I agree his vocals aren't great, but theres more to putting on a good show than playing your songs note-perfect.
I'm pretty sure most people in attendance would agree, they were impressive.

Concert was kickass! there were 5 bands all together. the first was a 3 piece local band. they were ok, nothing too special. next up was Zao. they were pretty good. very hardcore. then after them was Devil Driver. during the whole setlist, the crowd was pretty much out of control. people were throwing beer everywhere and i got splashed with it multiple times. they put on a very good performance. tons of energy and excitement. next up was Trivium (my favorite band there). they opened with like light to flies then drowned and torn asunder, gunshot, declaration, requiem, domination/walk, pull harder. the pantera covers were pretty cool. matt did alot of harmonic squeels like dimebag did. i thought that was pretty sweet. me and my friend were in the front row and the bassist accually gave me a high five. again, the crowd was wild. everybody pretty much loved them. they put on a great show. they said they're comming back in July and i'm definatly going to go see them again. then In Flames played. they were pretty good but we couldn't stay untill the end. thats about it.

oh! btw, i got to meet trivium and i got all their autographs. :D they're pretty sweet dudes.

King_Karl 02-12-2006 11:38 AM

I think Trivium are pretty cool. I got tickets to see them in march. I think the music is pretty exceptional but sometimes the vocals stary too far on the emo side of things for my liking.
|I'm listening to Ascendency for the first time in a while right now. It is such a great album. Well all except for Dying In Your Arms. I can't believe thats going to be the next single.
I love the drum beat at about 2 mins 30 in Drowned And Torn Asunder.
the dying in your arms version thats being released as a single has a piano intro. and the screaming before the solo is now nysncish shoulding nonesense.

its posted right there if you want to listen it.

mr black 02-12-2006 08:21 PM

^ All i can say is.... yuck. I didn't mind the album version because although cliche and cheesy it was incredibly catchy, but that version is just plain ...:smash:

deathscreamingsheep 02-13-2006 04:45 AM

If there was ever an example of dumbing down songs to appeal to a mainstream audience then there it is.

I'm extremely disappointed.

Ah, reminiscent of how Killswitch changed the vocals in "The End of Heartache" for the single release. Heh.

and you wouldn't delete some random pic for pics with trivium? seems like all of my friends have pictures of the most meaningless things, and they keep them forever. i was rockguitarist's friend that was there. Pretty much everything he said was true, I didn't like Zao that much though, they seemed good but the vocalist ruined it. Devil Driver ruled the crowd with a huge iron fist to say the least. Trivium was pretty much amazing. My neck hurt for like the next 3 days from headbanging and jumping around and stuff. It was pretty sweet when we met them, but it would've been nice if i could've thought of something cool to say besides a generic greeting. oh well, it was still super sweet.

You have to USB them to your PC to get them off the phone...it sucked. When I realized I didn't have space I was like "What the?" and Alexi and Janne from COB started laughing
