I_like_metal only news I have is this, Dont know if you've heard it:
Next single is going to be Hypnotise (the song) then the one after will be off mezmerize again. 2 release days have been floating around "27th September" or "27th Novermber" no confirmation of which on it'll be yet...although I think november. Tracklist so far: Kill Rock ‘N’ Roll Holy Mountain Attack Vicinity (of Obscenity) Hypnotize Lonely Day Hezze Soldier Side (Full song) Tentative Thats all I got so far, Its all official and confirmed apart from the release date and tentative (played live but no mention of it in interviews etc) :thumb: |
Yeah, they are releasing Hypnotize as a single, then they will go back to Mezmerize and release one single from there, and then some of Hypnotize again. Sounds good!
"Vicinity of Obcenity has one of Darons greates moments" Serj said this in an interview. Its a solo with some wah, delay, phaser, and stuff!! Im so exited!!! |
I'm Interested to hear the full version of Soldier Side, Heeze sounds cool, and I'm hoping that Vicinity is as good as they say it is. I'm hoping it will be alot better than Mezmerize.
I doubt that it will come out in September because they would have said something by now. |
Heres more info on each song:
Kill Rock ‘N’ Roll – Played Live, About a rabbit Daron killed in his car Holy Mountain – Played live, About 2 mountains in armeania (sp?) Attack – “Starts with a thrash riff and explodes into yet another hugely melodic verse. 'We attack, attack, attack!' screams Serj Tankian. 'Attack all the homes and villages/Attack all the schools and hospitals.'” – Kerrang! “‘Attack’ is first-pumping, Iron Maiden-style power metal” – Revolver Vicinity (of Obscenity) – “Proof that they haven't lost their love of the quirky, here SOAD sing about 'terracotta pie' amid other, nonsensical lyrics. Throwing their complete bag of tricks into one song, 'Vicinity of Obscenity' is the band's very own bad acid trip put to music.” – Kerrang! “‘Vicinity’ contains impenetrable lyrics like ‘Banana, banana, banana, terracotta/ banana, terracotta, terracotta pie’” – Kerrang! “‘Vicinity of Obscenity,’ an irrepressibly screwy homage to Frank Zappa that dishes out absurd lyrics like ‘Feel the sweet / Beat the meat.’” – Mean Street “‘Vicinity,’ which mixes a party-hearty Seventies disco groove with schizoid tempo shifts and brain-frying guitar feedback” – Revolver "Probably the craziest song I've ever written." - Serj Hypnotize – “Malakian and Tankian trade vocal lines over an Indian-tinged riff, followed by a head nodding groove over which the guitarist reveals he's 'just sitting in my car and waiting for my girl'.” – Kerrang! “‘Hypnotize’ finds Serj and Daron harmonizing on the same line (‘I’m just sitting in my car / Waiting for my girl’)” – Mean Street “Malakian's piercingly high vocals on the stomping ‘Hypnotize’ would make Rob Halford doff his leather cap in appreciation” – Revolver “The song ‘Hypnotize,’ Malakian says, was inspired by his frustration with those who would rather blindly follow their leaders than think for themselves, as well as the propaganda-spouting pundits who reinforce their behavior.” - Revolver "'They disguise it, hypnotize it/ Television made you buy it,' Malakian sings in the opening verse. 'Mesmerize the simple-minded/ Propaganda leaves us blinded,' he sings later." - mtv.com Lonely Day – “A mino-key rock ballad built around Malakian's plaintive pledge of ‘And if you go/I want to go with you/And if you die/I want to die with you’ and capped with dizzying guitar solo, ‘Lonely Day’ sounds a little like Green Day would if Billie Joe Armstrong had grown up on a steady diet of late-Seventies Scorpions and UFO recording” - Revolver Hezze - "The second half of System of a Down's Mezmerize/Hypnotize will feature the band's first instrumental" - mtv.com "The 4-minute track is based on Middle-Eastern music but also includes rock and disco elements" - mtv.com Soldier Side - According to Serj in a recent interview, Soldier Side will be the final track on Hypnotize. Tentative– Played Live, Mellow chorus with Serj and Daron harmonizing on the line 'Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?' |
:O I heard there's only gunna be 5 songs on the Hypnotise. Boy was I mis-informed.
|
5 songs!?
 man would that be a rip off  I think the person would told you was probably pissed at the length off mez and being sarcastic :thumb: |
Read the interview with shavo in bass guitar mag it tells about the two cds are suppoused to be a reality check almost in the everlasting artistic form of music...
SOAD freakin own. They're a joke band who have serious political messages.
Ha! It's George Bush! A joke president who has serious responsibilities! (Lets not get into dubya's ineptitude mmkay?)
Way to bandwagon, 12 year old. |
Bandwagon? Hardly. I cant help it if the general consensus is that George Bush is an inept fool can I now?
|
 BOUNCE! Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo BOUNCE!" which song is that
that song would be bounce of toxicity.(number 7) when does hypnotize come out.? september 1st was the original release date. is that still it? |
November 18th is what I heard on the radio the other day.
|
Late November, I've got told the 22nd :thumb:
|
Good write up mate. I checked out the new album and it is pretty good. I will go pick it up when I get some money.
|
The singles out tommorrow...EVERYONE BUY!
:thumb: |
Why are everyone complaining on the length of Mezmerize?? I think you should be very happy abouth the length. Remember: Mezmerize/Hypnotize is 1 cd. They just kinda cut it in two. So Hypnotize will probably be about the same length as Mezmerize.
|
All there albums arnt much longer anyway, I think there longest is something like 45 minuites
|
Yeah, thats right. I think people have been excepting too much from Mez/Hyp.
It will rock anyway, though |
im pissed.. i thought it was coming out september 1st! i pre-ordered the cd and the dude working said i could pick it up on sept. 1st.. im angry..
|
well the date i heard is definately late November... because it was coming out 6 months after the release of Mezmerize. it sux that i havent heard any of the Hypnotize tracks. someone told me i can get at least one like on P2P's, bbut there isnt any anywere. can someone tell me where i can find or hear one? whats all this trash talking about the band? they rock! and if Mezmerize wasnt what some people expected, it cuz that was just a taste of Hypnotize, which will definately rock harder.

You have to download them. |
Has anyone gone to soadfans.com and read the concert reviews? I'm sorry but everyone reviewing are complete idiots. How fanboy/girl can you get. I get that it IS mainly a SOAD concert, but they dismiss The Mars Volta and Bad Acid Trip as some talentless, boring bands that have nothing to offer. I can imagine all the SOAD fans being completely disrespectful to that kind of music, kind of like Tool fans to Meshuggah. It just really pisses me off that no one addresses it on the site too. I can understand since its a fan site, but at least show some respect.

What do you think reviews at thecomatorium.com are like? Face it, these two bands are both highly bizarre and completely insane, and their fanbases reflect that. Not to mention that neither one of them has a good reputation for live performances, so you're getting two completely opposite opinions from each band's hardcore fans. |
