Planes Mistaken aren't emo.
|
Seems like they have plenty of emo influence.
|
I agree with them bursting with emo influence, but they have some other stuff going on.
|
I've been listening to Death Cab For Cutie a lot recently, and people have been telling me they're crymo so I didn't know where to post this but can anyone recomment to me similiar bands?
|
Death Cab aren't emo. They don't belong here.
|
death cab is very good. although i wouldn't consider them emo.
Shai Hulud hahahaa. They are THE defining hardcore band of the late 90s.
Uhhhhh.... |
finally. i think this thread should be its own forum but whatever.
the spill canvas! they may not be techincally "emo" but whatever. **** genres and listen to GOOD music |
wow after reading some of this thread its scary how many people really have no clue about what real emo and screamo is. worst one I read was someone listing Korn and Slipknot I think... wow. I havent seen much mention of Orchid though, they are definitely one of my favorite screamo bands. my first post btw, so..um... hi!
btw, does anyone have ANY CLUE where I could buy The Blood Brother's Burn Piano Island Burn? It seems to have fallen off the face of the ****ing earth. I cant find this cd ANYWHERE, not even online. tried amazon, artist direct (their label), insound, interpunk. all of them either dont have it or have been in restock for months.... |
The Faint. Hahahahahaha.
They are good. I have two of their cd's, and I'm going to get their mix and their middle one. |
finally. i think this thread should be its own forum but whatever.
the spill canvas! they may not be techincally "emo" but whatever. **** genres and listen to GOOD music
If they're not emo why are you talking about them? And I do listen to good music, thanks. |
The Planes Mistaken stuff I heard on purevolume was not remotely emo.
|

the spill canvas! they may not be techincally "emo" but whatever. **** genres and listen to GOOD music
I love 'em, but go to the pop-punk forum to talk about them. They have a decent sized fan base there. |
Uhhh what? Is that not true. There are more bands that conform more to the hardcore sound but those aren't the bands that are respected or cared about ten years later. If you look back at nu-metal, the bands that most embodied it were probably Limp Bizkit and like Korn, but the bands people still care about like Rage Against the Machine, Tool, and Deftones are the ones that showed ingenuity and variety to their music beyond the scope of the genre. Shai Hulud has amazing songcraft and technicality and they have that sheer passion that most more generic hardcore bands have. I argue that Shai Hulud will be remembered in modern hardcore like a Saetia is for modern emo, or a Nirvana or Pearl Jam is for grunge. Bands that embody a genre by transcending it. It seems contradictory but it's an odd truth.
I think Shai Hulud would only do that with metalcore. Hardcore in general? In the 90's? Hmm, as far as popularity and what everyone says, I'd say Refused or Born Against. |
hooray everyone hates me already
fine.woo! ashley simpson! |
hooray everyone hates me already
fine.woo! ashley simpson!
you idiot...you spelled Ashlee wrong  |
Where is this metal you speak of? I only see it in some of the guitar licks. Everything else screams hardcore to me. It's just that they don't go verse-chorus-verse-chorus-breakdown-final huge chorus-optional sampled audio at the end.
Late 90s. Refused is indeed up there. They grew posthumously more than normally I thought. Shai Hulud exhibits a little bit of both.
Well, Shai Hulud are regarded as one of the best metalcore bands ever, and one of the pioneers of the genre. |
Also, I know ATDI isn't hardcore, but they've opened up hardcore for far more kids than any other band in the 90's or even now.
|
you idiot...you spelled Ashlee wrong
oops//i swear i knew that what a ****ingidiot. X( |
I think Shai Halud is widely considered to be hardcore.
|
I think they are leaning a little to the metalcore side.
|
Correction, I think most people, besides 40 oz 2 freedom, think Shai Halud is hardcore.
|
|
You always have to be so controversial.
|
Shai Hulud are obviously straight-up hardcore
