I wonder if it was Maynard who had a direct hand in making the video, or whether it was another director who came forward with the proposal? maybe even Maynard has passed over into the video making area. Move over Mr Jones?
....fat chance :D |

Hmm... who would be interested in some song grudge matches? like.. Third Eye vs Hooker with a *****
|
Could be an interesting idea...as long as people give some intelligent reasons why.
Edit: and oh yeah...ME FIRST!!!! ill take your example |
Unrelated to my last post: I just found something that relates to A perfect circles second album, 13th step. It has been theorized that the 13th step is about addiction to drugs, and the different steps invovled, and by the 13th step they have chosen to stop their addiction ect ect.
This is most likeley a coincidence but, the 13th amendment of the constitution abolishes slavery. In this case, it could relate to abolishing the slavery over the persons life by drugs. Am I reaching here? |
I thought someone theorized that the 13th Step was starting your addiction over with, but the 13th amendment...interesting...
|
I think Otherside could be right.... Because in Gravity the last words Maynards sings are "I choose to live", which probably means that the addiction will end, which would fit with the whole 13th amendment idea (thanks for telling me that)
also usually, when things appear coincidental with Tool/APC theyre prolly meant to be that way |
Someone said someting about posting views no P.u****. Well that is one of my favorite tool songs, particularly for the lyrics and the emotion in the song. And the ending chords Adam plays are absoltely kick a.ss. I always thought P.u**** was about an abusive relationship, or possibly someone forcing something on him. "Theres no love in fear". "you're pushing and shoving, pushing and shoving me". That shows how it cold be an abusive relationship. But I don't have time ot go into detail right now. But I promise I'll post a more detailed interpretation of the song sometime later today.

Push.it
While on the subject of Pus.hit (amazing song), have you guys heard the version of it on Salival??? I thought it was incredible... Its pretty different from the original. If you've heard it, what do you think about it?

Greatest.Tool.Song.Ever in my opinion of course. Like MJK states before the song, it really is looking at it from a different angle, and it becomes so much more epic |
i definitely agree.... maynard reaches another level with those vocals
|
im sad that whoever that mod was closed my oh-so-successful thread...but at least it was "of large magnitude" or something to that effect, so im just going to eulogize it with this qoute from another mod from that very same thread
I started to close this thread and move it to the Official Tool thread. I feel this thread deserves to stand alone as it reveals a much deeper problem of parental figures or authority types failing miserably to understand music in general. While they happen to be focused on Tool this could have easily been any band. This is one of the better threads I have seen on MX. Good thread and great posts people....
ok later |
It was a good thread, it had some good opinions on misinterpretation as a whole of lyrics. However it did just become another 'questions about tool' thread, which is what this was created for
|
Honestly, I don't see how anyone can think Pushit is better than Third Eye.
There is really no comparison IMO... |
Intermission or Disgustipated are by far the best Tool songs.
|
Honestly, I don't see how anyone can think Pushit is better than Third Eye.
There is really no comparison IMO...
Third eye (to quote Justin) was 'the ultimate Aenima remix' . It is a fantastic song, but I still find the re worked version of Pu**** better, due to having the live recording (literally) which gives you the experience of hearing how they sound without all the studio dubbings. And it shows off the full power of MJK voice. Third Eye is a better instrumental though |
I don't really think of any songs being better than the other, they are all good and have thier place. I usually find that I have some songs I listen to more depending on my mood or enviroment.
|
Same with me, but Pu**** will fufil my needs no matter what the mood. The song itself has so many moods, it covers most of my usual ones.
But i will still crave for 4 degrees after a while, **** that riff! |
yeah push.its one of my favorite tool songs followed by bottom (i dont know why but i just love that song) ill start working on an interpretation of pus.hit sometime soon when i find the time
|
Well, I mean, the Live version of Third Eye outdoes even the Live Push*t I think...
Third Eye might not be their 'best' song, but I think it beats Push*t w/o a doubt... Meh. :thumb: |
the transition between intermission and jimmy is cool
Same with parabol and parabola Disposition/Reflection/Triad Eon Blue Apocalypse/The Patient any others? |
the transition between intermission and jimmy is cool
Same with parabol and parabola Disposition/Reflection/Triad Eon Blue Apocalypse/The Patient any others?
That one works the best as they used to be one song. I think (could be having a blank out though) thats all the ones I could name |
I agree that the live version of Push.it on Salival, is f.ucking amazing. I love the beginning riffs Adam plays. And what Maynard says before they play it. The song is done form a totally different angle, and I thought the push.it on Ĉenema was good, I was blown away with the live version. But Third Eye does have really good instrumental.
|
gotta love the lyrics to ticks and leeches
:thumb: |
Hey, don't wanna seem like a newb but... i litterally havnt heard any Tool before and I hear they're f*ucking good. Could u guys suggest some of their best songs, thx.
|
Aenema, 46&2, Sober, Stinkfist, Parabola, Ticks and Leeches, You Lied, Prison Sex, that should get ya started.
|
I haven't spent the time to read the whole post, but from what I glanced at about what people were saying about Eulogy, I saw no one brought up L. Ron Hubbard. I have heard from the person who got me into Tool that it was about him. After researching up on him and listening to his line in Aenima (F*** L. Ron Hubbard and f*** all his clones) I feel that it makes sense to be about him. Any thoughts?
|
well that was my first post and I have no idea how these threads work so whatever... the message didn't show up where I thought it would... I didn't know there were um... 46 pages! so my post is probably irrelevant.
|
Nah, Eulogy is about Bill Hicks. The theory Aenema is based on is actually part of Bill Hicks comedy routine.
