I don't even think I got all the way through the album. Maybe I should give them another try. :p

Stoic 06-29-2005 03:41 AM

keep an eye to the thread, I'll soon upload some quality stuff

EDIT
i wasnt as impressed with them as i hoped to be either. The reviews on "celestial entrance" were flawless and after several listens i still cant recall a song i really got into. proof that masterful musicianship does not make you a good songwriter.
I feel exactly this way about infinity divine, the production of which by the way is awful. However, I dont think they're that technical. They're typical, generic, semi technical power/prog. A reviewer on www.metalcrypt.com does nothing but praising them all the time and I cant see why...

Stoic 06-29-2005 04:02 AM

I hope you like it as much as I do :)

Does it happen to be requiem99? I had a lot of expectations for Celestial Entrance, due to his excessive laudation of Pagan's Mind, but I can't seem to get into it as well.

Shadows Within 06-29-2005 08:45 AM

Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil
supposed to be power metal...I think? anyway its good.

I've been meaning to check them for such a long time. Any upload would be appreciated

Josh 06-29-2005 10:17 AM

i just got uploaded an A7X song off their latest album (beast and the harlot), i think i might get it...are they classed as Power Metal? the advert i saw on TV for the album described it as PM...

Stoic 06-29-2005 10:18 AM

who's A7X?

Josh 06-29-2005 10:18 AM

avenged sevenfold.

Stoic 06-29-2005 10:20 AM

Hey! The PM thread is back! Yes, their new album is most accurately described as power metal. However, their earlier albums were more metalcore/hardcore.

iAmCam 06-29-2005 10:31 AM

Could someone reccomend me some power metal bands with a good bassist. Or any power metal song with a good bass line in it.

CaptainWaits 06-29-2005 01:30 PM

great to see this thread back up, I saw considering making a new one.

Anyways, to discuss my Power Metal likings up to date, Blind Guardian has easily become one of my most respected bands

ArcLite 06-29-2005 01:32 PM

I'm minutes away from listening to the new Demons & Wizards album. I gotta say, I haven't been this excited to listen to a new album in a long time. I'll post remarks after my, hopefully incredible, listening experience.

Sweeet basslines.

i'd say DragonForce, Adrian Lambert's a class bassist. and they're just..awesome. my favourite song is Soldiers of the Wasteland, thats got good bass in it.

EDIT: wow, 2 of us suggested DragonForce at the same time.

YSI some of it

I really wanna hear it.

ArcLite 06-29-2005 01:36 PM

Will do, all in good time.

Sorry for double post, but this is a frequently asked question. Yes, they have a lot of PM influences on the new album (Beast And The Harlot + Burn It Down are the biggest ones), but are still not outright Power. They combine so many genre's, its hard to class them.

god **** right i am!! Such a shame Daniel and (however you spell the guitarsit name!) left the group...i head some audio files of their new band "Heed" and is less than impressive :(

Blind Guardian or Symphony X (close enough to Power Metal)

I saw Dragon Force a couple of times, their bassist is good, but the band overall isn't. They have to learn to change it up once in a while.

I wouldn't say the bassist from Dragonforce is anything special. He basically just lays back, and plays the root noted. Saying this, it doesn't mean that he has the ability to do more.

Does Blind Guardian have a bass player? If so he is not listed on the bands website... or did he leave?

I'm pretty sure that they do, but I don't know too much about them.

Steerpike 06-29-2005 04:52 PM

On the first few albums, Hansi played bass. But on the last couple ones, they've hired a session player named Oliver Holzwarth so that Hansi can focus on his singing full-time.

Though he has talked about considering picking up the bass again.

Thor 06-29-2005 04:57 PM

How many Demons and Wizards fans do we have in the house?

Fallen Zero 06-29-2005 05:23 PM

^^^I've heard a little bit of their music. Its very good and on the thrashier side of power metal.
