So here i am in IT at school. Its very boring and i wish i was listenin to S&M right now. I love that cd, and i wish i went. Was it only a two night show?
I don't think they've ever done more than a two night show...

It's awesome they are finally getting back into studios. I watched SKOM today and I noticed how mad Kirk was that Lars wanted to be "trendy" and not have guitar solos. I'm hoping Kirk will have more of a role this time and he'll take a good minute or two out of a song and just solo away :thumb:

Andrue 02-24-2005 07:59 PM

The more I listen to S&M the more I like it. New stuff each run through to pick out.
Finally had the time to read the comments in the cover booklett too. I bet that was an awesome concert.

Metallica has not come out with a record worth wasting your time on in 17 years. They are old and artistically washed up. They ****ing ruled the eighties, wait, Slayer ruled the eighties, but Metallica was still badass then, but not anymore.

Thank you for that insightfull input

Slayer didn't rule jack shit. If I recall correctly, didn't Metallica sell almost 100,000,000 albums???

it's funny, a lot of slayer albums came out when metallica albums came out. but who outsold who?? can anyone take a logical guess?

well, so now i just did some research. in 1995 they celebrated the 4,000,000 sale. by then the black album was already 10x platinum...wow... if the black album made so many sales, what about the rest of the 80s??? Metallica has come out with some amazing records. So what if they haven't made an amazing record since the early 90's? They are still, IMO (and apparently in the opinion of 99,999,999 fans) that Metallica is better than Slayer

Leper 02-24-2005 08:50 PM
Yes they started to go in the studio early 2005 like in january. :thumb:
oh man i can't wait for a new album.

Leper 02-24-2005 08:53 PM

Ohh ya, Slayer is like Metallica without James Hetfield. IMO anyways.

EDIT: and that's a bad thing. ;)

The drumming in both bands, and the vocals are the biggest difference. I like both James and Tom Araya's vocals, but DAVE LOMBARDO. Huge jump from Lars to Dave Lombardo. The man is a speed machine.

Nobody ruled the eighties. Just because you like Slayer better than Metallica doesn't mean there better than them. Your favorite band shouldn't be your opinion of best band. My favorite band is Slipknot. Do I think there the BEST band? Hell no, they aren't. Everyone knows that. I love both Slayer and Metallica to death, but let's face it, they didn't rule crap.

Leper 02-24-2005 09:15 PM
My favorite band is Slipknot. Do I think there the BEST band? Hell no, they aren't. Everyone knows that.
Well actually not everyone knows that, unfortunately. I say it's unfortunate, not because i'm not a big fan of slipknot, but because there are a lot of slipknot fan boys where i live.

6stringslinger 02-24-2005 09:17 PM

Holy S*** .........so they are really back in the studio??

I thought that was just a bunch of rumors, I just look at the link, I thought they would take some time off!! Well that is pretty f***** cool, maybe a new album will be out this year!!

Joe 02-24-2005 09:18 PM

They are very skilled, but they aren't the best band ever. It's all an opinion

... forgive my brutalness, but you're really sucking up for some reason. Its sort of pathetic to read those posts... No offence though, whatever floats your boat.

And what is with this thread and its ~7 pages every fricking day. Its getting hard to keep up, and once you fall back it takes forever to catch up :'(

willis2441 02-24-2005 10:52 PM

i have the 17th most posts in here :)

clown_phobia 02-25-2005 12:21 AM

I'm really liking the black album at the moment.

hammet_ownz 02-25-2005 12:21 AM

all my posts bar three were in here and the other one was RATM and Why america should be kicked outta the UN heh

clown_phobia 02-25-2005 12:23 AM

Cool.

No offense meant to anyone who likes it, but Fight Fire with Fire makes me sick when I hear it. (don't get me wrong, I'm a metallica fan)

appreciate_it 02-25-2005 12:33 AM

i like the black album too julian. Its a good album. It;s kinda been so over-rated its had a drought of people talking about it which has kinda made it under-rated again...? yeah i confuse myself sometimes. but if you gather it's kinda true. Especially some of the ones that wern't in the "Big 5" God that failed, My Friend of Misery etc etc

Hit the lights is still god though
then fade.

appreciate_it 02-25-2005 12:33 AM

^^ thats like me, but escape.

chilipepperlover85 02-25-2005 12:42 AM

This is my first post on here. I saw that you brought up the Black album. One of my favorite songs is Nothing Else Matters and i almost never see anyone comment on it. So what do you guys think of it? just curious.

clown_phobia 02-25-2005 12:59 AM

It's a good song. :) I like it.

clown_phobia 02-25-2005 01:00 AM

I didn't like some of the latter songs on the album though

chilipepperlover85 02-25-2005 01:14 AM

Enter Sandman, Wherever i may roam, the unforgiven, sad but true, and nothing else matters are the only songs i like from that album. The rest seem a little mundane to me compared to the songs i listed.

clown_phobia 02-25-2005 01:23 AM

I agree totally :thumb:

hammet_ownz 02-25-2005 01:23 AM

NEM is good live the normal version is ok

lol as i have said before, the buildup before the solo by james... yeah yeah yeaaahhhhhhh then just a huge break out of sound

chills the skin :P

chilipepperlover85 02-25-2005 01:25 AM

i have to admit the first time i heard it so long ago.... ;) it gave me goose bumps

Nah man, sorry...
In my opinion that review doesn't do Ride justice.

*That's just my opinion, and I pretty much live by this album, so my thoughts on your review are totally biased.

Thor 02-25-2005 06:48 AM
Thats also what I thought. Fight fire with fire only 2/5? doesnt make sense to me.
Ill second that. Fight Fire With Fire is an awesome song. One of the best on the album, at that. This review should be redone, because it really isnt doing the album justice.

drummerguitarist 02-25-2005 07:01 AM

Me too. This is my first post, and being a Metallica fan, figured this'd be the best place to start. And as a drummer of my level, I'd have to agree. Fight Fire With Fire is a kick a$$ song, and it dominates to crank up a guitar with. My band and I love it. The whole Ride album, actually

BassMasterMike88 02-25-2005 07:53 AM

Hey does anyone in here know if Jason Newsted played with a pick or if he played slap? My band's doing a cover of Blackened and i ant the baseline to sound affectic.

KILO5203 02-25-2005 08:14 AM

im pretty sure he uses a pick

KILO5203 02-25-2005 09:56 AM

shadow_stalker 02-25-2005 10:01 AM
