How does procrastinating make you smart?
sarcasm...

Leper 01-23-2006 02:11 AM

Wait, nevermind guitrguy. Goddam I'm tired.

Edit: Ahh crap I was hoping I'd realized my own jack-assery before you had a chance to reply.:(
i've always been a fan of more subtle uses of dissonance and pantonality:

120 bpm:

That sounds sort of what I like, too.

My movement is a little more obvious, I admit, but I like the sharp left turns.

Amit 01-23-2006 02:27 AM

would you guys like to hear the piece i am currently composing?

gmoneyguy 01-23-2006 02:29 AM

http://i1.tinypic.com/mhayhl.jpg

what the hell? It looks like it was written in some sort of a code.

Amit 01-23-2006 02:58 AM

yeah anyway so here's the awesome piece i'm working on please tell me what you think of the second movement (the part where the harp comes in) i just added it in today:

The first keyboard run that I do in my bands song is using that scale.

your bands sounds good.Actually the intro made me think of SOAD

kurrpt 01-23-2006 07:48 AM

it turns out this new band's practice space is in the same building as my boy's practice space.

200 a month, split a few ways isnt bad considering the actual room we have.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-23-2006 08:11 AM

That sounded quite good Eggo.

I was really digging that.

Bartender 01-23-2006 10:06 AM

I'm not a big fan of harps, but I liked most of what came before that.
[20:41]
Did anyone notice the new title?
I did. I was surprised at first; far too intellectual for R&M :)

I'm also apparently in the 2% in that exercise you posted.

EDIT: I'm sure there was something more I wanted to respond to, but I can't remember what it is now.

Jev 01-23-2006 10:10 AM

Greatest quote ever from my music teacher

"It's your choice wether you go or not but Choir is compulsory".

gmoneyguy 01-23-2006 10:12 AM

Eggo: I really like the tempo changes.
Greatest quote ever from my music teacher

I think all choir teachers are somewhat crazy.

Edit: I finally have romance somewhat down. I know it well enough that my teacher won't be completely pissed at me.

kurrpt 01-23-2006 10:29 AM

well, i have 2 options guys

option A : stay with this new band, play covers for a while, then eventual gig and write originals

option B : try out this new "metalcore" band. Play something more up my alley.

Apparently option B's band turned away a bunch of people.

kurrpt 01-23-2006 10:42 AM

the first band, yea

the second band wants me to come out

I would atleast sit in with Band B then make a decision after that.

kurrpt 01-23-2006 10:49 AM
I would atleast sit in with Band B then make a decision after that.
yea, thats definitely a pretty safe decision

Jev 01-23-2006 10:51 AM

I agree with this. I mean if Band B doesn't want you, you've still got band A right?

kurrpt 01-23-2006 10:54 AM
I agree with this. I mean if Band B doesn't want you, you've still got band A right?
to elaborate a lil more

band A is only 10-15 minutes from me, and being LEAD, im sure i could call more shots

band B is more up my alley musically, but if this other guitarist is as good as the singer says, I have less say in the matter

its also like 35-45 away from me

Jom 01-23-2006 11:12 AM
I did. I was surprised at first; far too intellectual for R&M :)
I was only trying to make a point :upset:

Hah, I know how it goes. Fortunately for me, every time I pop in here the discussion is something I'm not exactly entitled to give feedback on, so it's not like I miss anything.

I still go back, though.

I love that harp part.

I think the first section builds too much instrumentally without building enough on the theme: I would have liked to hear some more counterpoint than I did, especially in the strings: it just seemed like with every instrument that entered, it played something remarkably similar to the piano part (which is drop-dead gorgeous BTW).

What time is in? A "7" of some sort? 7/8 maybe?

Arucard 01-23-2006 12:48 PM

So posting less and spending more time on my band paid off, we came 3rd out of 60 bands in the qualifiers of Leicester's BOTB.

23/25 musicianship ftw, highest by far.

kurrpt 01-23-2006 12:50 PM

friggin congrats man

you get anything for winning 3rd?

Arucard 01-23-2006 12:52 PM

Only the qualifiers, semi-final on Sunday which will rape i assume and Final is undecided yet. 10 people got through to the semi's, and i laughed at my old bands who both patronise me because im 16 but both came very low.

I love the way we got the 3rd highest musicianship score when we are only 16-18, at least 10 years younger than most of the bands who entered.

Happy ++

kurrpt 01-23-2006 12:54 PM

i fukking bet man.

Screw the haterz.

did you guys play covers or originals?

gillygan 01-23-2006 12:56 PM

Im in History right now, im kinda bored, and i got english next period :upset:

Arucard 01-23-2006 12:57 PM

All originals, its not a little BOTB, the first prize is 1000 G's mate.

I hope we win.

kurrpt 01-23-2006 01:01 PM

1000 G's = 1,000,000 dude
