In any case, would anyone be up for writing little profiles for the bands? Saying how they were influential, who they influenced, etc. Make a real go of it.

I'd be up for doing a fair few.

sweboy 05-02-2005 12:45 PM

People, I need your help. I need two songs, and I need them fast, but I can't download them at the moment. So maybe someone could find them and upload them on yousendit or send them directly to me. Would be sweet. The songs I need are Sublime's "Falling Idols" and "All You Need".

I thought about that, but I am really busy at the moment, what with wandering and working and trying to get a Greyhound home. If we had enough people willing to do it, as they did in the Punk forum, I think it'd be grand.
I tried. :upset:
Tried and failed.

YDload 05-02-2005 02:16 PM

I just think that all the bands are pretty influential, and ranking them will only cause anger and heartache. Like for me when I realized that nobody voted for The Replacements. :(

I just won Weezer's new album.

I <3 XFM after 7.

pixiesfanyo 05-02-2005 02:37 PM

I think the forum is cluttered.

+ I'm up for writing something about a band?
I'm still undecided about whether to buy it, as I have doubts about whether it can stop their slide into complete mediocrity. :-/
It's definitely a slide into mediocrity. It's not completely bad... but it's pretty damn 'meh'. Weezer simply aren't very interesting anymore.

Thanks alot! :thumb:

One song is the wrong one though, and the other one is a live version. :p ;) It's all good though, things are working out anyway. But thanks.

A pre-emptive apology for this post, because it's going to seem totally attention seeking. But, I just remembered a bet I made, and it involves you lot.

I want you to take a guess at what album I was listening to when I lost my virginity.

Clue: it's me we're talking about.

I win the bet if one of the first three people to guess gets it right.

Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen

In a wierd way....

Iai2 05-02-2005 03:33 PM

My review of Gentlemen just made the front page of RYM!

Sick.

Nope, not this time. Got to last week though, chatted to Ian [DJ] about GCSEs and stuff for a bit before he played Ordinary Boys for me.

Like I said, much XFM love.
You're a cool guy. Really, it's awesome how you wander around the internet trolling anyone who likes Bright Eyes. Keep it up!
Heh, nice.
Heh, nice.
well you're an equal-opportunity offender. you can invest the same amount of hatred into a boring, lyrics-heavy band like Bright Eyes as you can with an over-the-top, lyrics-are-meaningless band like The Mars Volta.

i never realized you hated two completely opposite bands before, but that's pretty neat actually.

True.

Frances The Mute is pretty lame. De-Loused was defintely over-the-top, but FTM sure takes the cake. Theres no substance to it at all. 50% of the album is ambient garbage and complete nothing-ness.

I love De-Loused, but I have to say, I was disappointed with Frances... /me thinks shoulda posted in the FTM thread.

Zappa 05-02-2005 08:21 PM

I just wrote a 4 page chunk of an essay analyzing the plot of Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. It was a great book, but you know, that really wasn't that much fun.

I think that's more homework than I've done in one night all year. My school is so weak.
