RockAndRoll 10-21-2004 09:50 PM

yay, I was waiting for them.

Seafroggys 10-21-2004 09:51 PM
There was little on Jack Bruce though. :p
I was just referring to good bass players in general. They are extreamly underrated.

RockAndRoll 10-21-2004 09:53 PM

I voted clapton and supertramp.

Badmoon 10-21-2004 09:53 PM

and that's why I added though ;)

and yes. But there were a lot more underrated players than Bruce on the DVD.

Seafroggys 10-21-2004 10:07 PM

There's this Tull song I've heard on the radio several times. I don't know what the name is.

I figured out one of the guitar riffs in the song on the keyboard. It approximately goes like this:

[G Ab Ab D Eb - - G ] [G Ab - Ab Ab Bb - - ]

Hopefully that makes sense.

RockAndRoll 10-22-2004 10:02 AM

I can't think of that many tull songs they play on the radio I thnik I've only heard

Aqualung
Locomotive Breath and
Thick as a Brick

on the radio

Seafroggys 10-22-2004 12:02 PM

I know its not Aqualung and Locomotive Breath. I don't think its Thick As a Brick...because its an actual song, and I think its earlier then Aqualung (I heard it on a Tull radio documentary, and they played it from an earlier album).

My Sunday Feeling, Nothing Is Easy, A New Day Yesterday maybe?

Who do you guys think is the the better bassist, John Entwhistle or Jack Bruce?

Seafroggys 10-22-2004 12:50 PM

Jack Bruce. Even though Entwistle's work in My Generation during those little licks were ungodly.

But across the board, with all their songs, definitly Bruce.

I think completely opposite. Watch John Entwistle play live, it'll blow your mind.

Not to mention he played like a God until his death, now that's a bass player.

drugstore cowboy 10-22-2004 01:19 PM

Entwistle, definitely. He was just really good on every song, in my opinion. Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again (but everyone was at their best on that one), Getting in Tune...I pick Entwistle =p

magicbus 10-22-2004 01:55 PM

I love the quick bass fills on My Generation! So fast!

BludgeonySteve 10-22-2004 01:59 PM
I love the quick bass fills on My Generation! So fast!
I love those too :). It's kind of Entwistle's lead bass song since there's no real solo.

drugstore cowboy 10-22-2004 02:26 PM

I'm on a CCR kick...Up Around the Bend has to have the coolest guitar riff ever..anyways, what do you guys think of CCR/John Fogerty? Real American roots rock and roll, in a time where people were getting really psychedelic...

BludgeonySteve 10-22-2004 02:35 PM

i don't know about that, Run Through The Jungle has a really cool riff. Either way CCR rocks :thumb:

lunch998 10-22-2004 03:14 PM

Enwhistle on the Live at the Isle of Wight Dvd and Live at Leeds show that he is amazing, and why his is my favorite bass player. The end of Tales of Brave Ulysses gives major points to Bruce though.

jpj 10-22-2004 03:17 PM

All this talk of bas players while I'm gone, yet when I'm on there's nothing. I also prefer Entwhistle to Bruce, but not by much.

thickasabrick 10-22-2004 03:25 PM

i prefer entwhistle...but i havent seen enough of bruce to make a good judgement

MalcolmYoungRock 10-22-2004 05:08 PM

Entwhistle is awesome.

I was listening to "Who Are You?" the other day.

The drumming is brilliant in that song.

jpj 10-22-2004 05:10 PM

What do you guys think of Cobwebs and Strange. I love when the music stops and Moon just goes crazy.

Badmoon 10-22-2004 05:18 PM

I'm doing a review.

jpj 10-22-2004 05:18 PM

On what?

Badmoon 10-22-2004 05:24 PM

Ohh, let's just say it has 27 tracks, it's live and it's by one of my favorite bands.

jpj 10-22-2004 05:25 PM

Europe '72 by The Grateful Dead? I'm not sure how many tracks are on it.

Badmoon 10-22-2004 05:30 PM

No.

The Who has great bass and drums, as well as great songwriting...i think that Pete could have worked a little harder when it came to guitar, instead of just like doing windmills and smashing stuff (not that he wasnt talented)

Seafroggys 10-22-2004 05:50 PM

I love Keith Moon. He's my favorite drummer.

My jazz band teacher hates it when I play fills, but every so often I decide to go "Keith Moon" on his *** and play some sweet lick here or there.

Who Are You? is one of Moon's finest.

I hate having an old geezer for a band teacher.

jpj 10-22-2004 05:53 PM

Hey! Geezer is the name of one of my favorite bassists, you shouldn't use it as an insult.

thickasabrick 10-22-2004 06:00 PM

Geezer is an amazing bassist, i think hes the first great bassist i actually recognized.

BADMOON I MISSED YOU!!!!! did you realize i was gone??

jpj 10-22-2004 06:03 PM

I love Geezer's really trebly and punchy tone. I can get it pretty good now, but you have to hit the strings hard as hell.
