Circle. K's. Seriously, Raayl, they're f**king amazing.
brah u do realize that each drum sequencer uses different midi notes for different hits, right? so your midi is proly pretty useless

also pret sure raayl doesnt have dkfh
I was thinking about this the other day and whether or not they did, but presumed that there was probably some standard for the bass, snare, crash, ride, open, and closed hats, so I could be fine with the basics.

fatbandit 03-09-2011 04:27 PM

you'd need a drum map.

nah for instance if i wrote drums with addictive drums' midi notes then carried the midi track over to superior, since the vsti use different notes they wont work. you can select and drag them to the corret note of course but that sucks

FunkMetalBass 03-09-2011 05:11 PM

Damn. This all just got a lot more complicated.

fatbandit 03-09-2011 05:28 PM

it's always best to program within the vst you'll actually be using for just that reason. some things don't even make sense when transferring from one vst to another, just because of the different ways they may make use of velocity, how many velocity layers there are, or where the velocity layers are split. You might also be using something quite specific to one vst, like a midi note just for rimshots for instance, which may not exist in another vst.

short answer - download dkfh if that's what you want to use.

Spaceman Spiff 03-13-2011 11:31 AM

I got my ticket to go see Battles. That show will be amazing. I have so many awesome concerts coming up that I'm going to over the next few months.

Holy Shit.

Simpleton 03-13-2011 10:01 PM

i liek the song raayl.

Crit:

Drums are thin, too perfectly in time(theres no swing). The bass tone is pretty thin too. i know you said this is a rough mix. I feel like if you start nailing those drums, you'll be on some next level shit.

the structure and playing on the song is really good.

Epidemechanical 03-13-2011 10:21 PM

bass tone suffers cuz the strings are so fucking old and dead on this curbow. should be upgrading this week to some nice bright roundwounds.

i suck at mixing drums.

Simpleton 03-13-2011 10:44 PM

what are you mixing on?

my room is all set up as of recent. Decoupled yamaha HS50M's, 2 2'x4' bass traps, and 4 mid range panels, and a bunch of cheap high frequency foam.

heres the first thing i've made with the current set up....basically just an experiment in a few different areas im interested in. ill probably strip things down and simplify with time.

I know. He's doing a very small tour in the summer that consists of about 10 dates, 2 of which are in Toronto. I have a ticket to one of the shows, but I'm still trying to get one for the second.

You have one of my tutors to thank.

Him and a few other organized a benefit for Chris Knox in New York and Jeff headlined.

If it wasn't for that he probably wouldn't be gigging now.

Although that's complete speckulashon.

fatbandit 03-15-2011 12:37 PM

going to see the chariot on saturday. wewt!

Well, he's been known to appear in public and play a show once every few months, I have yet to hear any explanation as to why he finally decided to do a tour, even such a small one.

Jody LeCompte 03-17-2011 08:59 PM

So, I ordered a bass from RondoMusic because I needed a reliable backup bass. It asked me after ordering: Would you like to add a case? I think to myself, "Sure...I wasn't planning on one because it's just a backup, but it would be nice to know my bass is shipping that much safer. Sweetness.

Today, I receive an empty gig bag just left on my door, and my bass is roughly still a thousand miles away. Sweet.

Cramboli 03-17-2011 11:44 PM

That really sucks man, I love it when you order shit like that at the same time and everything arrives like completely different days...

Oh and I don't post in here much so I didn't see the need to make a thread about it if it should then I'll just work around it with making one, but any who I was wondering if you all would like to check out this song I recorded it's just two basses and a drum machine (constructive criticism could probably help also(otherwise stfu))

cramboli i will be sure to comment on your song if you would be so kind and do the same for me

http://soundcloud.com/raayl/maleficarum

ill post my comment in the morning

Cramboli 03-18-2011 12:49 AM

Consider it done...

Jody LeCompte 03-18-2011 01:20 PM

I have heard they are pretty shitty, should be a decent backup though.

I have an old set of Bartolini's from my old Ibanez SR506, so if nothing else, that might sweeten the deal a bit.

BenJammin 03-18-2011 07:04 PM

I've lost musical direction now that my band's broken up. Sigh. Bass is boring... I need to pick up a new instrument, but I suck pretty bad at most of the ones I've tried.

Cramboli 03-18-2011 09:35 PM

kazoo, there is no way you can fuck it up...

Jody LeCompte 03-18-2011 09:42 PM

Chromatic harmonica. It's kind of hard to learn...but after lugging around a bass and bass rig for years, one can really appreciate only having to carry a single harp.

Simpleton 03-18-2011 09:58 PM

i've got a harp in C and D. theyre pretty fun to play waiting for class or the bus or something. I'm fairly good at the harp in C, sometimes i have trouble getting my single notes clean.

Jody LeCompte 03-18-2011 10:00 PM

Playing singles was one of the hardest things on harp for me to get a grasp on. What notes laid on the inhales and exhales, vibrato, everything else came very simply. It took me forever to learn to play singles because I would always leave the center hole open.

I hear you pretty hard right here :/

Jody LeCompte 03-19-2011 10:59 AM

Indeed.

I didn't play bass for almost a year when I was inmbetween bands...it's not not fun to play by yourself.

EDIT: However, Ben, if bass ever becomes so very boring that you just can't stand having that nice custom bass, we should work out a payment plan.

BenJammin 03-19-2011 07:57 PM

lol... yeah, no. I'll keep the bass. It's starting to get too broken in for anyone else to want it, anyway.

Epidemechanical 03-19-2011 08:23 PM

dude i love playing bass again now that i have a nice way to record all the instruments

you really need to branch out and do some research on how to write songs and shit in diff genres

learn to record and all that get a new AI and shit

dont you still have my brice

FunkMetalBass 03-20-2011 01:24 PM

Today, I shall put my wireless and my 15" PA speakers up for sale to finance my new snowboard. :)

fatbandit 03-20-2011 01:55 PM

Just set my 6x10 and 2x12 up in my room with my Matamp head. Pretty sick. Shame I can't put any volume through it!

FunkMetalBass 03-20-2011 02:48 PM

Man, I want a 2x12 to go with my Ampeg head. I just can't justify having two amps.

Which 2x12 do you have, Chris?
