ATM 04-07-2009 07:50 PM
i am downloading dooom, never heard the band before.
awesome, i hope you enjoy it.

Shattered_Future 04-08-2009 04:32 PM

I've been digging this release that's a collaboration between Aidan Baker and thisquietarmy. Some solid drone stuff on there. Very relaxing...it's great to zone out to late at night.

Ventriloquist 04-08-2009 04:43 PM

If you like Aidan Baker check out Whisper Room.

I reviewed that last week. Decent album but pretty standard.

joshmay 04-08-2009 09:32 PM

heil yeah this worship album is so awesome...knowing the story behind it makes it that much more grim. im only two songs in but this is definitely classic doom metal. thanks raspberry

rasputin 04-09-2009 02:58 AM

one of my favourite doom albums :)
if you liked it (which i guess you did), get their first album Last CD Before Doomsday. It's a little rawer, but pretty awesome.

the2stranger 04-09-2009 01:40 PM

Nadja?
I like.

My favorites:
Thaumogenesis
Body Cage
Truth Becomes Death

Andifyou're looking for an awesome collab:
Merell, Baker, Jordan - Nagual.
It has Baker on guitar and the other two using short wave radio, creating awesome ambient drone noise.

Ventriloquist 04-09-2009 03:00 PM

Gotta check that collab album out.

Wino was pretty awesome when I saw him, King Giant kinda sucked though.

Tyler 04-09-2009 08:13 PM

This is the closest we have to a traditional heavy metal thread, so yeah. Downloading a promo of the new Cauldron (ex-Goat Horn) release now. Heil.

Deth 04-10-2009 05:03 PM

New Heaven and Hell is legit imo

putting it here because I'm lazy

FatalEnergy 04-10-2009 05:08 PM

Getting that **** right now.

Edit: This **** is legit. My favorite album so far this year. Better than Candlemass or Beherit.

Phototropic 04-11-2009 05:22 AM

ATM 04-11-2009 03:09 PM

New Church of Misery is ****ing awesome.

RagingNoob 04-11-2009 04:25 PM

Anybody into Virgin Black? They're a (very) symphonic doom band from Adelaide. I saw them support Opeth in Sydney last year and they gave them one hell of a run for their money.

I have an album of theirs called Requiem: Mezzo Forte. They released another one last year, but I haven't heard that one yet (apart from at the gig).

knuckleduster 04-11-2009 10:35 PM

Requiem: Mezzo Forte is ****ing awesome. But that's all I've heard by them.

I saw them opening for Opeth too, they were okay. The album they released last year was decent, but they overdo the whole symphonic thing.

So I went tothis gig yesterday:
Officium Triste, Evoken, Mourning Beloveth, Isole, Longing For Dawn and Mournful Congregation.

I had to leave near the end of Evoken and missed Officium Triste.
But hey, I saw awesome bands.

Longing For Dawn was already playing when I entered the venue.
They played a song from heir new album I guess when I entered.
After that they played The End Of Laughter from their second album.
A very good live band, hadn't expected that.
The vocalist moved and headbanged in a strange way though.
Isole played an excellent show, better then the last show I saw of them.
Still, I'd like to see more power in the vocals.
Mournful Congregation:
Absolutely awesome.
They started with Mother - Water, the Great Sea Wept, of The Monad Of Creation, after that Suicide Choir from the new album and then a song of the demo: Suffer the Storms.
These guys were so awesome, one of the better funeral doom bands around.
AFter MC, Mourning Beloveth played
I'm not big fan of them, so I went out to eat during their time.
I saw the last song still when I returned.
It was ok, but too quick and agressive for my taste.
Evoken:
WOW. Powerfull, crushing, oppresive.
They played A Caress Of The Void and another from that album and two tracks from earlier albums, can't remmeber which ones.
And I had to leave after that. :(

I also bought a Mournful Congregation shirt, of The June Frost.

Awesome, awesome gig.

Ventriloquist 04-12-2009 12:22 PM

I'm so jelaous. I've never been to a doom gig :( Glad that you had fun.

jrowa001 04-12-2009 12:25 PM

i havent been to one either. one day...one day. maybe there will be a show during the summer while im traveling around Europe

pate 04-12-2009 06:44 PM

I've seen Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus. Both were immense.

imperialblackness 04-12-2009 06:46 PM

Last year Candlemass played really close to me but I already had existing plans to go to six flags

Nostalgia 04-12-2009 07:27 PM

Wow, good decision making, fagboy.

imperialblackness 04-12-2009 07:30 PM

Hey **** you man

rasputin 04-12-2009 09:09 PM

the show sounds like it was awesome the2stranger, i wouldn't have missed any of the bands, particularly mourning beloveth, but that's just me
