Good night.

I'm going CD shopping tomorrow. Any suggestions for what I could get, anyone?
I recommend The Lovin' Spoonful and The Mamas and the Papas, if you don't have anything by them.

I'm going CD shopping tomorrow. Any suggestions for what I could get, anyone?
what kind of stuff are you looking for?
Anything, more or less. Rock/metal or outside, I like most things to some degree.

Animosity - thanks. I own some of them already, and know I don't like some of the others. The remainder have been added to my rather sizeable list.

jpj 01-03-2005 08:52 PM

I suspect you don't have much jam band stuff.

Gov't Mule-The Deep End Vol. 1, Dose
Widespread Panic-Space Wrangler
The Grateful Dead-Live Dead, Working Man's Dead

Just some suggestions.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-03-2005 08:54 PM

You need to get :

Solefald - In Harmonia Universali
Haggard - Eppur Si Muove
Winds - The Imaginary Direction Of Time
Vintersorg - The Focusing Blur

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 01-03-2005 08:58 PM

alright y'all. I'm gonna go practice a little more, then watch Shrek 2. 'Night!

Already got The Imaginary Direction of Time, and Vintersorg is already on my list. What are Haggard like?

Thanks. If I get anything like that though, it'd probably be Blues Traveler (if I ever find their albums cheaply enough).

jpj 01-03-2005 09:01 PM

Well, if your going for Blues Traveler I'd suggest Four and Badmoon would probably tell you Travelers and Thieves. If you didn't already know that.

Bartender 01-03-2005 09:03 PM

Yeah, Badmoon was the one to get me into them. If given a choice I'd probably go for Traveler's and Thieves because of Optmistic Thought, but really I'd just like to my hands on anything by them.
alright y'all. I'm gonna go practice a little more, then watch Shrek 2. 'Night!
That's such a good film. Enjoy.

Haggard is like classical medieval music fused with metal. But alot of the times it doesn't even have the whole metal element, but straight up classical. Very cool band, and that album is mostly in french and is about Galileo.

Bartender 01-03-2005 09:22 PM

Sounds good, then. I'll keep an eye out.

Do you like Einherjer?

I been meaning to check them out, what are they like/genre are they?

Riva 01-03-2005 09:41 PM

Sounds like a Viking Metal band.

Iron Man 01-03-2005 09:42 PM
Sounds like a Viking Metal band.
Ding ding! I think Einherjers were Norse mythological warriors of some sort.

BludgeonySteve 01-03-2005 09:43 PM

Hehe, Viking Metal is funny. And kinda cool at the same time ;)

Bartender 01-03-2005 09:44 PM
I been meaning to check them out, what are they like/genre are they?
Yep, Viking metal. I've not heard them, but The Dragon of the North is one of the albums on my list, because it looks really good.

Riva 01-03-2005 10:14 PM

Einherjars were the soldiers of Valhalla, training under the gods to prepare for Ragnarok.

Iron Man 01-03-2005 10:16 PM
Einherjars were the soldiers of Valhalla, training under the gods to prepare for Ragnarok.
Thanks, my knowledge on Norse Mythology is limited :p

Riva 01-03-2005 10:19 PM

I am a really mythology nerd. That's all :)

So, did Vince drop off of the face of the earth or something?

Also, muchos reppos to Med for doing some tallying for me.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-03-2005 10:21 PM

Holy shit!

I just heard Otyg's cover of Holy Diver, and wow that ruled haha. It was all folkish more so then metallish and had a violin do the solo...

Haha, that version does rule. It's interesting how all those scandinavian bands sing in english. Sounds quite funny, and frankly i wouldnt mind hearing more! :p

Then go check out the almighty Vintersorg, since hes the one that sings that version of Holy Diver.

Sounds good, very good.

*is in the process of downloading tracks*

munky_magik 01-04-2005 07:58 AM

The qaulity of some of the tracks isn't great, but I dunno if that's just dodgy ones downloaded by me, but they're really good.
I think I'll get some more :)

Bartender 01-04-2005 10:12 AM

Hello everyone/no one. Apparently I'm now going CD shopping tomorrow, for some reason it didn't happen today. Instead, I've been watching Black Books, again. More time to find recommendations though, I suppose.

munky_magik 01-04-2005 10:17 AM

have you tried the reccomendations thread? ;)

Bartender 01-04-2005 10:21 AM

No, it's a stupid thread and I hate it

Actually, I just don't want any specific kind of recommendations ("looking for stuff like X, Y and Z"). I don't think going in and saying "recommend me things" will go down too well. Anyway, that's what I've already said in here :)

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 10:22 AM

So just a bit of spontaneous buying then?

munky_magik 01-04-2005 10:29 AM

I think that I only got 9 cds over Christmas :upset:
My list will never shrink

Burdcheese 01-04-2005 10:33 AM

I didn't get nearly enough - I need to buy more.

Only about 5 :(
