Aren't macs immune to viruses and such? How does that work are most viruses written in code that only works on PCs?

They aren't immune, and switching to Intel chips definitely opened them up to more, but yeah, mostly all spyware and viruses are coded for and by PCs.

I don't like Macs, though Leopard might change my mind.

However, it won't change the real reason I'm not keen on Macs (inability to upgrade as you like).

As for Vista, I dont like it. I have it at my job (I work at my schools computer lab now) and it is always crashing on people. Plus, the fact that you cannot use older versions of Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Access etc.and the fact that iTunes does not work with vista (maybe it does now, Im not sure) seems to piss people off.

iTunes has worked fine since Vista launched :\

I think the lack of backwards compatibility is what turns most people off Vista.

Hardware issues make that impossible.

idk I put Vista Home on my recent PC build and it hasn't really gotten in the way or crashed even when I'm running Cubase. Granted that's pretty much all I use it for, and listening to music and some web browsing.

Really? I have had many people complain to me about iTunes not being compatible with vista. I use the OS at work but I dont have iTunes on it or am authorized to download it so I took their word for it.

Anyway, as of now, I still stand by my dislike for Vista. If backwards compatibility wasnt a problem and if it didnt crash as much, then my opinion would be different. Im sure these bugs will be fixed eventually or I'll just get used to it.

Eh, that's just mainly rumor and bad hardware/software trouble. My computer is like 3 years old and Vista doesn't ever crash/screw up and everything runs even better on it than XP.

I'll tell you little fellows why Vista must be hated.

1. You can't be an administrator of your own system when you want, how you want, as you want. You are queued every single time you make a decision on your computer, and are given hundreds and hundreds of pop ups asking if you're sure you want to do things. That's idiotic, purely idiotic and just gives Microsoft more control over YOUR computer (it's easily lockable, but apparently your computer will always be in danger).

2. It works entirely on RAM memory, and rarely goes to HD to save data unless there's A LOT OF DATA TO SAVE.

3. Powerpoint and what not prompts you every time you open someone else's presentation or document, and sees everything as "a thread", except real threats. Like encrypted threats, the ones that are actually dangerous!

4. Aero is bullsh‪it overall, it's a waste of virtual memory, despite it looks pretty there's little to non usability to it.

I disabled user account controls on my work PC, and Vista works fine once I did that. I can use iTunes on it also.

In other news I just bought a Guild.

The computers at my school are rather old and so many people use them daily that i would say its a rather safe bet to assume that they arent in the best condition. Im sure this is whats causing many of them to crash. However, its the new laptops that I see crashing that had Vista pre-packaged that is rather baffling.

I still think the lack of backwards compatibility is a big mistake, especially with many companies who are looking to update their computer technologies.
