It's Cubase 6 'Artist'. They've kinda changed their price modelling a bit I think. Now they have Cubase, Cubase Artist and Cubase Elements. The last time I looked into buying cubase, which I believe was version 5 - the prices between cubase and artist were waayyy too similar, even with educational discount the artist version was going for just under 200 quid, full on cubase was about 220 IIRC.

Now they've changed it round a bit and the prices are a little fairer. I managed to pick up cubase artist, with educational discount, for 118. Got myself a korg nano control surface for 50 quid, and komplete elements for 38 (not 39 like I just said..derp).

This is kinda a plan to get back into music - I've been concentrating ridiculously hard on my course, no more than these past few months when I was on placement. Had a real hard time getting my work done and had literally no time for music. But yeah, trying to get back into recording and writing and all that.
that's a good discount for cubase. think i paid about 250 or 300 for studio 5. sounds like they have tweaked things again then, bloody confusing.

I've got a fully licensed Logic on my mac as well but not tried it out yet. It's a tough one as i already know cubase quite well and don;t fancy the hours of fucking about getting somoething else to work! cubase seems to have a bit more functionality with the likes of audio warp but logic comes with a shed load of great loops.

Old posters and new threads on MX, what is the world coming to.

sup lemonade

The_Mop 01-17-2012 09:00 AM

Admittedly I'm floating in and out at best. This forum has undoubtedly died a death but every so often there's a vague spark of activity. This is one of those sparks. Wahey!

spirit 01-17-2012 09:13 AM

Nothing much more than the Lod exists around here. It gets a post or two every same number of days when the going is good. I check in every once and a while. Oh I remember the good old days when a page or more would actually be between the post you were trying to reply to and where your post actually posted. For at least my long winded ass...

Only active thing on the forum is The Pit really... but it is pretty much all trolling and other retarded pass-times.

Sad But True 01-22-2012 08:21 AM

And as usual LFD ruins it. Well done brah.

The_Mop 01-22-2012 08:43 PM

Well guys. I'm gonna be done with this semester's work in just over 12 hours. Staying up all night. Yay! To celebrate, once I'm done I'm gonna get recording something. Really want to do a cover of one of these three:

Autopilot by Queens of the Stone Age
Curse You All Men! by Emperor
Sunday Afternoon by Devin Townsend Band.

Whoever posts next, gets to decide what I do out of these. Go.

jaklyons 01-23-2012 07:41 AM

Devin Townsend.

guitarbaz 01-23-2012 09:00 AM

Fucking mondays.

The_Mop 01-23-2012 10:14 AM
Devin Townsend.
Devin it is! Coursework is all done now and I can kiss goodbye to this fucking god awful semester. Back to musics! \m/

Sad But True 01-23-2012 03:24 PM

I'd second some Dev.

Anyone got Mastodon's new album? I heard Curl of the Burl and was very 'meh' about the whole thing but I'n probably going to go see them when they hit the UK in a couple of weeks, as well as Periphery (again).

Yeah the album is certainly different than the previous. Wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but it's worth a buy if you like the band.

I'd recommend Black Tongue, Blasteriod, COTB, Spectrelight, and the Hunter

Bread and Faxes 01-24-2012 03:54 AM

Mastodon's new album was pretty impressive. I bought it for once.

Yeah its great, I still prefer most of there albums to this one though. In my eyes mastodon can rarely do wrong

guitarbaz 01-26-2012 04:33 AM

metal schmetal

anyway.

in other news, got a pair of Flow NXT bindings on the way. only 5 more weeks til we head off to alpe d'huez for some snowboarding shenanigans.... :)

E.S.P. 01-27-2012 03:23 AM

So, I get sent a link to a song by a friend whom I haven't talked to in years. He's been a bedroom guitarist for a while but everyone thought he was this typical Iron Maiden dude just riffing through some songs here and there to impress the guys he knows. Turns out he's effing insane, and I want to do something with him so fucking bad. Check it out:

Mad chops right there yo.

fingers mccoy 01-27-2012 06:33 AM

Blue_Moon 01-27-2012 08:17 AM

Quite enjoyed that

Sad But True 01-27-2012 01:33 PM

Not my style really but excellently played. 0:44 was one of those wtf did I just hear that moments.

Sad But True 01-27-2012 01:37 PM

On the other hand, I am loving this:

Uh oh, DP.

Thanks for showing me The Mire SBT, been listening to it all night^^ Gonna put an ISIS tune on before I go to bed and welcome the weekly binge.

Sad But True 01-27-2012 06:52 PM

Got into The Mire very recently, they've only done an EP so far but it's really promising stuff. I mean if they can put out stuff of that quality and they don't even have an album yet...

They got more work to do...their music actually made me go back to this band:

Sad But True 02-05-2012 08:49 PM

So yeah, Alestorm just played at my pub, then wouldn't fucking leave.

Sad But True 02-21-2012 04:52 AM

OK Lod I'm seriously drawing a blank on amp ideas. Looking at Laneys, JCM 900s, JCM2000 DSLs, and then I'm stumped.

Left Face Down 02-21-2012 08:51 AM

Bogner? Friend of mine replaced his JCM 900 with a used Shiva and loves it to death.

Sad But True 02-21-2012 11:26 AM

Yeah because they're in the same price range.

I'll just have done with it and buy a Dumble.
