They just sound like ****.

Stormrider 04-20-2008 07:20 AM

I like his ambient stuff on the black metal albums much more than the actual ambient albums.

Eliminator 04-20-2008 07:21 AM

i agree

once i listened through that 20 minute ambient song on filosofem and it was pretty hypnotizing but i guess it can be boring

rasputin 04-20-2008 07:21 AM

That's the point, I'd assume he was trying to make them sound dark and all mysterious-like but he failed.

Stormrider 04-20-2008 07:25 AM

I very rarely listen to that one.

Tomhet and Han Som Reiste are my favorites.

Eliminator 04-20-2008 07:27 AM

tomhet rules

i love when the little drum/hi-hat thing comes in

Solitary 04-20-2008 08:00 AM

Well since the riffs on Daudi Baldrs and Hlidskjalf are unused riffs from old Burzum, and he is in prison I'd say it's very unfair to judge his compositions when he can't record anything like his early stuff anyway.

rasputin 04-20-2008 08:03 AM

If I was in prison and wasn't allowed to record good metal, then I'd sit on my arse and wait until they let me out. That's no excuse for releasing a crappy album.

Eliminator 04-20-2008 08:12 AM

seems like the prison he's in is pretty lenient tbh

i remember reading that he had a computer, those synths and an acoustic guitar and other stuff probably in his cell

rasputin 04-20-2008 08:21 AM

Yeah, I think he had a guitar.

I guess you just have to be in the right mood to enjoy ambient stuff, I know I do.

the2stranger 04-20-2008 08:31 AM

Yeah, true about the ambient stuff.

Anyone into Witchcraft from Hungaria?

RetiredAt21 04-20-2008 08:31 AM

Never heard of them. What's their best album?

the2stranger 04-20-2008 08:33 AM

I have no clue actually, just heard a random song by them, sounded pretty good.
So I thought lets ask around.

Lemme find a sample for you:
http://www.last.fm/music/Witchcraft (check On The Land Of Shadows)

and some live stuff:

yep i am.

the2stranger 04-20-2008 10:55 AM

Cool.
I was loooking them up and a sample started to play, I liked it right away.
Eerie black metal, with some old Mayhem influences at times.

Hawks 04-20-2008 10:55 AM

Never heard of Witchcraft. Must be pretty good if it sounds like old Mayhem.

the2stranger 04-20-2008 10:59 AM

Have a listen for yourself at the song I posted a few posts ago.

Nostalgia 04-20-2008 11:03 AM
Because his last couple of albums were terrible. I want black metal, not crappy ambient stuff.
The reason his albums were liked that was because he was restricted to using only a small selection of instruments. He even mentioned around 2006 that if he recorded more Burzum it'd be like his older stuff since he has the freedom to use what he wants.

Hawks 04-20-2008 11:10 AM

That song by Witchcraft is pretty good. What is that album called?

Stormrider 04-20-2008 11:15 AM

In the last update though, he mentioned how he plans on dissapearing from the public after his release from prison.

Hawks 04-20-2008 11:34 AM

He can still make music and not be seen in the public eye. Its not like he's Britney Spears.

Aakon_Keetreh 04-20-2008 11:34 AM

can somebody tell me some amazing pagan black metal?

Eliminator 04-20-2008 11:43 AM

lol

Hawks 04-20-2008 11:46 AM

Primordial and i heard Moonsorrow was pretty good, but i've never heard them.

Aakon_Keetreh 04-20-2008 11:48 AM

Ive heard both of those lol.

Hawks 04-20-2008 11:50 AM

Lol. How is Moonsorrow?

Aakon_Keetreh 04-20-2008 11:52 AM

excellent.

Hawks 04-20-2008 11:54 AM

I think im going to have to check them out then. I've actually been getting into a lot of raw Black Metal lately too. Bands like Sargeist, Craft, and early Graveland.
