I listened to the album. In fact, I just listened to it again. They sound like a nu-metal band to me. And if they're anything -core, I think they're metalcore. How do they get called hardcore?
How do Shai Hulud get called Hardcore?
How do Poison The Well get called Metalcore?

And by the way, they get the hardcore label from their EP.

Some hardcore kids call EVERYTHING hardcore, even though all they listen to is metalcore. Kids in Lancaster call Atreyu hardcore. I have to get out of Lancaster, I can't take it anymore, between the moronic hardcore kids and the amish...I'm not sure which is worse.

Luckily, people in OCHC hate Atreyu.

Shai Halud get called hardcore because their music is a faster, heavier form of punk and while it has some metal influence, is closer to hardcore.

On their first EP and LP, Poison The Well mixed the agression and speed of hardcore with a high metal influence. Their sound has obviously changed a lot and in reality, they are probably closer to a metal band with post-hardcore influence now. But they were originally a metalcore band.

Even though I just throw tons of s'hitty bands into metalcore because I don't feel like coming up with lame labels, metalcore to me is putting straight up hardcore and metal together. Hence bands like Integrity or 100 Demons.

But anyways, the Warriors are hardcore mainly because of the Alive and Strong EP and I hear they keep it real live.

cbmartinez 03-30-2005 01:14 PM

Yeah, I agree with the true metalcore thing. You can really sense both the hardcore and metal influence in bands like Sworn Enemy, Deathy By Stereo or Walls Of Jericho. I still don't understand how Haymaker is hardcore though. The guitars are in Drop B, and the riffing sounds pretty metal to me. Wouldn't that be metalcore?

shane italian 03-30-2005 01:15 PM

Yeah, it's metalcore.

RetiredAt21 03-30-2005 01:15 PM

Throwdown tunes to drop B too, but I think they are hardcore.

cbmartinez 03-30-2005 01:16 PM

That's what I meant, the album Haymaker.

shane italian 03-30-2005 01:17 PM

Musically, they're bad metal...and they aren't even in the scene for kids anymore. ****ing$$$

RetiredAt21 03-30-2005 01:18 PM

They don't really remind me of a metal band though. The riffing style isn't metal.

shane italian 03-30-2005 01:19 PM

Yeah, I just think they went overboard with the open chords on Haymaker. Anything before that though is awesome.

Yeah, dude, after watching the video, it's like, a way cooler version of Limp Bizkit, like, the whole attitude/vibe, idk, whatever they are, they're good, and I would love to see them live. Maybe they get called hardcore cause that's who they play with and the scene that they're in, I don't know, I'm not real good when it comes to this finite crap.

and italian, that is one rad avatar you've got there :p

Anti-Prefix 03-30-2005 05:41 PM

Hmph. This may sound really stupid, but did Strike Anywhere do a Gorilla Biscuits cover?

Or am I out of it? ;)

A-Life-Less-Plagued 03-30-2005 05:43 PM

Yes they did.

cbmartinez 03-30-2005 05:47 PM

Reiner, please create a poll for my thread.

BuddyBigsby 03-30-2005 06:46 PM

We all need scene names.

I should be Old School Scott. Not because I've been around a long time, but because I still pay for music.
