It's fine to to work on stuff like that if you're after just general string skipping improvement, but for specific pieces/songs with a string skipping section in, there's nothing better than to just practise that dam part reapeatedly.

That's what I did yesterday with that verse part of the Nile song. I need to speed it up still some and get it more crisp. I'm making great progress though.

i would disagree with ya there. The BEST thing to do while having problems with a spot you find hard is

1: Find out WHY its hard (this situation, we'll say string skipping)
2: Separate both hands. Find out which is hand should/shouldnt be doing during that problem section
3: make up an example that takes the "diffculty" realm over the top.

What im saying is, if you have a problem with string skipping in a run/riff, try sometime 10 times harder for a few days. I guarentee when you go back to that riff/run, it will be easy as hell

MRDuCran 03-08-2006 04:15 PM

I understand. Knowing my short attention span, I'd probably go off on sometihng compelely different.

You certainly have the mind of JP.

LoL Whatever.

So I haven't been in a COB mood for the last couple weeks...that and my buddy had my cd's...so need less to say I ahven't really listened to any lately.

I'm gonna go learn something from AYDY

repcak 03-08-2006 04:41 PM

for string skipping i will recommend JP rock discipline... its one of the warm up exercises you can download for Guitar Pro

its something like that (i'm not sure)
--------------------5-9- (5)(and return)
---------------5--------
---------6-------6-----
----7-------7----------
-------7---------------
-5---------------------

start it with a downstroke, then repeat it with an upstroke (its more difficult).
you can do it with only one note, or a double-stroke
-5-5-

or with a third-stroke
-5-5-5-

and so on ...

Arsis > you

Cattle Decapitation isn't playing at the Portland show

Shattered_Future 03-08-2006 05:35 PM

They are at B.B. Kings. And Arsis should shoot their vocalist.

Is CD's vocalist really bad?

I've never heard them.

I'd go for necrophagist and arsis.

MRDuCran 03-08-2006 05:42 PM

I like My Face of Innocence, that's all I've really payed attention to.
My friend said they were coming to the UK after but I don't know where he got that from (Necrophagist that is).

I know, I might of worded it bad.

He just said they were coming to the UK, but on their site it only has US dates set and no mention of the UK, so I was questioning why he said it and where he got that information from.

Not unless he wants to swim. It'd be little bit of a workout swimming though.

BassMasterMike88 03-08-2006 06:47 PM

For the love of God why won't anyone come to Iowa besides Green Day!

Anyway about a week ago I finally got off my lazy butt and picked up a COB album, Follow the Reaper, whoever mans the keyboard for COB does some amazing stuff, and the percusion is really percise, not like other metal drummers that just drown out the rest of the music with double-pedal bass drum. Every time I hear Northen Comfort or the title track my ears have an orgasm!

By the far the best album I have picked up in the last 6 months:thumb:

GenuineImitation 03-08-2006 06:49 PM

FTR is a great album. Its probably my favorite Bodom album. Do yourself a favor and get more CoB.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 03-08-2006 06:59 PM

100% Quoted For Truth.

Janne Warman does the keys. If you love his keys, check out his side project called, Warmen. The "Accept The Fact" album is great.

To the poster above from Iowa, You still have Slipknot, you not limited to Greed Bay... Don't be so pesimistic.

MRDuCran 03-08-2006 07:03 PM

Why would I get a plane to see 2 bands I've already seen.
Bodom once, Slayer twice, I'm quiet satisfied.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 03-08-2006 07:10 PM

Really? Ok then. I'll change it back in a few days. My current user title is just a for some a confidence boost when it comes to playing the guitar.

I'm an atheist so "gods" don't work for me. You might want to select a more variable icon status.

Perhaps,

Haha, my diet consists of toasted ham sandwiches, chocolate spread, sausage rolls, Burger King, KFC, random burger and chips, doughnuts, and then a lil' bit of vegetables, it'd take me a stupidly long time to even get close.
