METALLICA IS SLIPPING!!!!!!!! Their new stuff sux only their old songs are good...
you didnt read the last page did you? stop blubbrin and just go to thier shows and listen to their 80's albums very SIMPLE |
so anyways how bout them covers you like
|
If by covers you mean Garage Inc. I liked most of them.
|
yea specific?
(trying to get people of st.anger and metallica's decline) |
Not the best way. Garage Inc didn't exactly get rave reviews. Anyways.
I liked the Last Caress/Green Hell thing they did. Mainly because they didn't make it sound like Metallica, it still sounds a lot like the Misfits. Same goes for Die Die My Darling. I liked the Motorhead covers. Whiskey in a Jar of course. Somewhat Sabbra Cadabra, but not as much. |
i'm hoping that since shredding is coming back (more apparent on Lamb Of God's new album, as well as Shadows Fall's) will bring back the oldschool MetallicA. any thoughts on that?
|
die die my darling was funny as hell live cause they kept screwin around before it
i'm hoping that since shredding is coming back (more apparent on Lamb Of God's new album, as well as Shadows Fall's) will bring back the oldschool MetallicA. any thoughts on that?
no but im sure they will get back on track |
I kinda think Metallica's upcoming album will be like the older stuff. Not carbon copy, but like the comparison between God Hates Us All and Reign in Blood. Sounds differen't, but still like Slayer. Hopefully we get something awesome and new that sounds like 80's Metallica.
I know that almost right after they started touring, they started writing new stuff. This could mean either: 1. They liked the way St. Anger was going and wanted to do more of it 2. They realized how different there old stuff was when they played it live. Also how much people still loved it. Like we all know, Metallica barely plays anything off St. Anger in concert. Option 1 is the worst that could happen, and would really suck. Option 2 seems more logical. So, I think they're going the option 2 route. |

no but im sure they will get back on track
yea...i hope rob has some pretty heavy input on the next album, if/when they do one. |
yea maybe he can put that ozzy magic in the band
|
Ozzy Magic + Metallica Magic = LIKE WHOA!
|
I loved Garage inc. My fav covers are Whiskey in a Jar, Turn the Page, Tuesday's gone (that one was such a new sound for metallica but i think they nailed it). Unfortunately i somehow lost the album a while ago and thus far have been too cheap to buy a new copy. >sob..sob<

It seems a lot of people here like Garage Inc. I've been iffy about gettin it for awhile. Is is worth $23?
|
Does anyone else think a lot of the songs on Live $hit sound better than the studio versions? I think Creeping Death, Sad but True, and Unforgiven are. Sanitarium can go both ways IMO.

definitely worth it. |
Does anyone know if any of the songs off MOP are good to play for a crappy guitarist like myself? I can play part of Sanitarium, but thats all I've tryed, and I just printed off a tab for Battery today.
|
MoP is fun but it will take a while

Disposable Heroes isn't as hard as it sounds for the most part, The thing that should not be i've never tried but it shouldn't be TOO difficult, not sure tho. |

The first metal I ever played on a guitar was Metallica. None of it is really, really, really hard. Just keep at it, and you should have no problem learning any of it that you want. Just look at the tabs and start out with parts of songs that aren't that hard, and keep progressing to the harder riffs. |
Master of Puppets is fairly easy to play. Leper Messiah and Battery are too.
|
I agree with pretty much everything you said here except for some of your categorizations, i.e. how in the hell do you call AJFA thrash metal, while calling MOP just Metal?? because of dyers eve, blackened and half of one?? What about Battery, most of MOP, Disposable Heroes, Damage inc.??? These are just metal to you? Can't say i understand that one. Plus, as much as you may or may not have like Load, how can u call it soft rock? Slow isn't the same as soft. Tempo does not vary the heaviness of a song. I'd more like call it soft Metal if anything. But i agree there is a definite change in their sound even throughout the first 4 albums.
actually by writing thrash metal, I was hoping to imply that the entire album was based on speed. MOP had other elements to it, but AFJA was just to show off their guitar supremecy. As for Load, ya you're right. I just wanted to give a general sense. Soft rock/Soft metal; the point is that its way too soft and slow. The point of that post was just to show the differences in each album that I had noticed and I hope it repeats like a cycle. |
Hi guys, i've played guitar for a year now and metallica is my fav band and i've learnt a few of their songs like nothing else matters, sandman and stuff. I want to move on to playing some of the old, faster songs like battery. Just wonder if there are any experienced guitarists out there who can provide me with some tips. Do I just start out playing the riffs slow until I get used to it and speed up? And am i supposed to downpick at all times? Thanks
|
the best way of learning is to play everything slowly untill you achieve perfection, then to gradually speed it up. Use a metronome if you can.
Also use downpicking where you can unless common sense dictates otherwise, e.g Battery. And this should really have been in the begginers section of the guitar forum, but I'll let it slide. :) |
After all the talk about how the new album may sound like, how long do you think it'll take for metallica to produce this new album? I heard they are looking to get back in the studio in febuary and start listening to the riff tapes recorded during their tour
|
Ok, first post in this thread. I'm thinking of getting the Live ****: Binge and Purge set (3 CD's, 2 DVD's). I hear that the audio quality of the CD's is great, and that everything seems to be played really well. I'm just wondering about the DVD's, do they have high picture quality, good sound etc? And most importantly, will it be worth the AU$90-AU$100? Thanks for any info:)
|
the binge and purge DVD/cd set is definitely worth the money. I've recently bought it off amazon.co.uk for 21 pounds! Its a bargain. Don't expect the same DVD quality you see on the cunning stunts or S&M because they were recorded in the early 90's. Its more like video quality, but the quality of the show itself is amazing! The setlist is pretty good and you get pretty much all the best songs from the first 5 of their albums!
|
Thanks, I'll get it then. I figured the actual quality of the DVD wouldn't be up to S&M/Cunning Stunts standards, but I've seen old live Metallica video's on TV from when they all still had long hair, and they rocked much harder than the newer live stuff I've seen.
