lynch_me 07-12-2004 03:06 PM

Vietnow 07-12-2004 03:09 PM

Matt, you said if i changed my avatar, you'd change yours also

Let's Chop Cats! 07-12-2004 03:09 PM

I never took lessons. Just learned songs from tabs an occsionaly looked something up that I didn't know. It's easy now with the internet to learn anything on your own.
Reiner were you named after reindeer.
Reiner was my mom's maiden name, and it was my dad's idea to name me that. Plus my middle name is named after a car.

lynch_me 07-12-2004 03:10 PM

Yes sir.

SheepNutz 07-12-2004 03:12 PM
How do you know so much about beer?
Beer is my hobby. I've been homebrewing for a while and have tasted well over 300 different kinds of commercially made beer. I read about it constantly, and someday soon I'm gonna take my test to be a BJCP certified beer judge, so I can help judge homebrew competitions and other official events.

Yep, that's the approach I'm taking now. I've taken lessons for six months, and it's made learning off the internet easier than before.

And lynch_me, you know that deep down inside, you are a communist too.
Is it true the english/irish drink there beer warm?
Sorta kinda. It all depends on your definition of "warm". Companies like the big three (budweiser, miller, and coors) want you to drink your beer ice cold because when beer is colder, it masks many "off" flavors that are in the beer (like rice and corn, which are used by the three above companies to save money. Those ingredients do not belong in beer.) If you let a beer warm up some, more flavors will come out. Usually the norm is that lighter beers with less alcohol should be served colder, and darker beer with higher alcohol content should be served at warmer temps. Most stouts, porters, and other darker ales should be served around 55 degrees F. This isn't really warm at all, and those styles are quite good that way. Also, cask conditioned ale, which originated in Britain, is served around 55 degrees as well. Many people consider this warm, so they tend to say that about all english/irish/dark beers. What I like to do is keep beer in the fridge, and when I'm ready to drink it I'll set it out at room temp for about ten minutes. This usually brings the temp of the beer up to 40-43 degrees. Then I drink it slowly to see how the flavors change as it goes from the low 40s to the mid 50s in temp.

good call

beer ice cold isnt right.

SheepNutz 07-12-2004 03:29 PM

Don't I know it! I hate when I go to hooters or somewhere else where beer selection sucks and they bring my guinness in a frosted glass. I got tired of sending em back or giving them to friends that now I just tell the waitress or bartender to give it to me in a warm glass.

That's like saying 'show me one instance where blowing up the planet Jupiter affects the enviorment.'
