Is there any way to install new fonts so we can use them on MX? I just found the coolest one..
I just did not find this radical font d00d |
Zakk Wylde rarely ever sweeps. The only sweeps he does are just between two strings, which I don't personally consider sweeps. If you want to start sweeping, I suggest doing things slowly like 3 string arpeggios and then 5 string. I was dumb and started off with 5, but I got it down far quicker than anyone else I ever knew.
no not sweeps just diminished runs and patatonic scales. |
I got some good old jokes for the CoB crowd here.
Q: How many Slipknot fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: None. They get an adult to do it for them. Q: How many emo kids does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: Two. One to change it, one to write a song about how much they miss the old lightbulb. |
^^^^^ haha nice.. emo one was great

I got the AYDY licks Young Guitar Video tonight!!! I enjoyed it quite a lot I must say...What a surprise!

|
Dylan, where did you find that video?
It was quiet a disappointment for me, he plays like sh!t. I can't actually watch the Towards Dead End thing, Warheart or Living Dead Beat solo, sucks. No wait, most are bad. The only one I really like is In Your Face. I like playing the Hate Crew Deathroll and Living Dead Beat solo though so I'm glad he showed those. |
Someone be able to share that plz _b?
|
i downloading the live concert video "Tokyo Warhearts" and Live in Tuska :D
|
The Tokyo Warhearts video was never released, are you sure it's not live in Seoul?
But saying that, I think I have Towards Dead End video from that gig, I don't have the mp3 so I can't compare. |
oh... my mistake... i think its live in Seoul, though a friend once had the live in tokyo cd, but he lost it :(
|
sup fellas
getting my triple recto fully retubed in 1 to 2 weeks. Additionally, I hooked up the BBE sonic max to the FX loop. Leads are amazing! |
oh... my mistake... i think its live in Seoul, though a friend once had the live in tokyo cd, but he lost it :(
Yeah I thought so. The warhearts gig was taped but I can't remember the story behind it. |
there is a story behind it?
a friend had it once, but he borrowed it some friends and never got it back... i looked in eMule but i couldn't find the file; |
There's a story behind the video, and why it's not out as a DVD or anything.
|
as far as i know, the video was recorded by fans ... not legal...
|
From an interview:
"We wanted to release a video together with our live-CD Tokyo Warhearts last year but the quality of the live video footage of this gig wasn't good enough to use. The problem was that when we used footage for the other Japanese gig we played we draw the conclusion that music and the video didn't match. So I don't know when we'll be releasing our first video. Probarbly after one of the coming tours." Henkka in December 2000 Some guy from Spinefarm (their record label) lost the video apparantly. A guy called "gaz" from the official Bodom forum writes: "There is a TW video, I have it on VHS. Audience pro shot, I have the best angled shoot. There was a 3 camera shoot that they used for the Silent Night, Bodom Night promo clip. No I don't have it in mpeg, not is it available for trade." "As I said already the video isn't for trade, selling or anything. I value the trust and friendship of the Spinefarm people too much to spread this video around. Sorry." "Yeah no problems for you guys if I spread the video around. Big problems for me and no more cool stuff from Spinefarm and my friendship with their label manager gone." |
lol and the live video will be recorded on this tour ... :D |
It's already been recorded, like a week or two ago, I can't wait.
|
I've never found the video for Tokyo Warhearts. I have the CD though.
I have several CoB concerts that are TV rips, only one was worth burning to DVD, due to quality of video/audio. \Now Watching: CoB AYDY tour live 06 Nosturi :thumb: Yes Alexi plays terrible. I actually found the Towards Dead End helpful, since I've been messing around with the sweeps at the beginning. This guy off MX IM'd me and sent the video. I've swapped a couple albums with him. EDIT: Mitch what's the correct, or as best you know how to play the Nile song, LTTSS? How correct is the tab on MX? http://mxtabs.net/tabs.php?path=Guitar,n,866,Nile,Lashed+To+The+Slave+Stick,207862 |
CoB is secksy
|
There's Silent Night, Bodom Night and Towards Dead End out apparantly from TW.
Nile, I used the powertab but re-arranged the fingerings, that mx one looks really bad, I haven't tryed it though. |

The intro cords seemed more accurate on the MX tab. the 1-4-1 instead of 1-3-4 I dunno... I'll have something to work on later either way with this. |
I'm the other way around, I thought the -1-3-4 sounded better, I just played through the mx one and it seemed to indicate no rhythm, didn't really have a structure.
|

I found what sounds to be really accurate tab on some Nile fan/tab w/e site. \used the power of google hell I'm not even playing in the right tuning and it sounds correct/great. and I played through today... 1-3-4 sounds far more accurate. Correct tab |
Where are you going? Second Page? I think not!
Umm... Discuss how it would sound if CoB covered Nile, Arsis or Necrophagist? |
That tab is the way I play it.
Umm... Discuss how it would sound if CoB covered Nile, Arsis or Necrophagist?
Live, it would sound terrible probably. I honestly don't think Alexi has the rhythm chops to match Muhammed or Dallas. They might be able to get it to work for a studio recording though, I know Jaska could easily do that death metal stuff, and they'd be no use for Janne. But Bodom has some pretty tricky riffs that are around the same speed, if not faster than Necro, so I guess he could pull it off he if worked on it. |

I actually would question if Alexi could play some of the sweeps or leads/solos in Stabwound or other Necro songs. I highly doubt it. I don't know if he could nail the Nile stuff either. I think he'd be fine on most Arsis, I don't see a problem there. Yeah that tab seems right on. I havn't found any flaws in it. I'm sure it's prolly not quite the way Nile plays it but..seriously... I remember people asking about "Which finger to use on which fret just to be like Alexi"...If it sounds right, sounds good and it's fun. who cares. I started the string skipping part today and I'm doing much better then I thought I'd do. I think I'm doing pretty well actually. It's almost easier then I thought it would be, though I still need to get it clear and clean. It's rather muddy as is right now. I'll prolly have it worked out over the next few days. |
I usually get in player mode when I study someone, like when I was madly into Paul Gilbert, I would use figners 1,3,4 for nearly everything and pick everything. Now I'm in Alexi mode, I use what feels best and use the whammy bar all the time. I can't use fingers 1,2,4 like he does though, it feels uncomfortable so I will not try.
I actually can't be bothered with that song anymore, I have way too much stuff to practise, and I don't even practise that much as it is. But of course, I look forward to hearing it if you record it. |

Plus I don't know how I'd record with the tone I use for it. It sounds great on the amp but recording would prolly it really muddy and just "steady noise". If you know what I mean? It would be 1/4 as deep/heavy as Sixpounder was, but it's steady and much faster, so that prolly wouldn't help my cause for recording. lol. Speaking of using fingers, What are some good exercises to increase speed with my pinky? I do almost everything 3 fingered. I'm quite quick using my first 3 fingers, which doesn't exactly motivate me to work on using my pinky... I try to as much as I can though. I've been working on bar cord sequences with my pointer and pinky fingers... As well as power cords and just trying to use it tons with random riffs from songs/parts of songs I know. Any specific techniques or exercises you can reccomend? |
i once found a great exercise and i play it every time as a warm up... it helped me a lot with my pinky!
12-9--------------8-11 ------11-8--8-11----- ------------9----------- ------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- make a run... until you reach the first fret and return... its a great exercise and you have to use your pinky!! |
Bodom News
...taken from their homepage Last night in the annual Emma-Gaala (Finnish equivalent of the Grammys) Children Of Bodom were presented the Export Emma 2006 for their accomplishments in exporting Finnish music. The whole award ceremony was aired live on national TV. In other news, the band recently shot a new promo video for the title song of their newest album "Are You Dead Yet?". The quintet ended their European tour in Tavastia, Helsinki on February 11th and returned the same club two days later to shoot the playing parts for the aforementioned video. The story parts of the video were shot beforehand in America. New video soon :D "Are you Dead, Yet" :D |
I read that a lil while ago,i wish i could see a video of it or something
|
That diminished arpeggio is ok for little finger strength, but I know people like Alexi and Yngwie would play it with fingers 1 and 3.
Just do stuff like: e-9-8-------------------------- b------9-8---------------------- g-----------9-8----------------- d----------------9-8------------- a---------------------9-8------- e--------------------------9-8-- ...obviously with fingers 3 and 4. e-12-7--------------------------------- b-------12-7--------------------------- g-------------12-7--------------------- d-------------------12-7--------------- a-------------------------12-7--------- e--------------------------------12-7-- |
I'll try both yours and repcak's later.
I made more progress on the verse riff in LTTSS. It's much easier then I thought it would be, though parts are challenging. Any tips for the string skipping? |

That is my favorite song off the album by the way. |
3rd page????? How did this happen?
Who do you like better? Warmen or Sinergy? :thumb: I like Sinergy better but both are great. |

Any tips for the string skipping?
as far as string skipping goes, most people would give you : 1-4-------------------- -------1-4-------------- --1-4----------1-4------ -----------1-4---------- ---------------------1-4 ------------------------ and so on. I find working on the stretches the BIGGEST help. You need to focus on moving from any string, to any string. Im sure i could give more examples in the future |
