Where is your cactus man from? He reminds me of these dudes from some China Mieville novels.

Jim 08-24-2009 01:26 AM

RPGs are awesome man never be ashamed.

The ones in his books are called Cactacae. Awesome trilogy of books - Perdido Street Station, The Scar, Iron Council. Best series I've ever read.

Meatplow 08-24-2009 01:44 AM
Did you mention your experimental music project in the interview?
according to him he lists himself as a music producer on his resume

I remember the giant cactuar fight on cactuar island in FF8 was awesome

gaslight 08-24-2009 01:50 AM

Haha well there's no reason he can't.

If I wanted to stretch things I could call myself a music teacher, performing/recording artist, composer, producer, recording engineer, all kinds of crap.

Aaron 08-24-2009 03:27 AM

My CV does have in it that I'm a music composer and producer, lol.
two questions, aaron;

1. did you get the job?
2. what is the job?
I've got to do some reporting for it yet, but I'm feeling pretty confident.
It's a Senior Business Analyst role.

Chu 08-24-2009 03:31 AM

Well done Aaron. :chug:

gaslight 08-24-2009 03:31 AM

Do you reckon jobs unrelated to music are impressed by music roles? 'Cause they're about the only prior experience I can cite on my own ones.

Aaron 08-24-2009 03:34 AM

Apparently so. Apparently creativity means you're an intuitive worker. I put it in the final page of my CV under "personal interests."

Aaron 08-24-2009 03:35 AM
Well done Aaron. :chug:
Thanks Chu!

gaslight 08-24-2009 03:40 AM

Well, fair play to that. Most of my brain is geared towards figuring out how to do things when they need to be done and that's my approach to music too.

Aaron 08-24-2009 03:41 AM

Word.

In finance there's a lot of people who don't think of their feet, but have fantastic minds. They generally look for the ones who can do things quickly.

Aaron 08-24-2009 03:44 AM

My reference is from the principal for an investment bank in direct competition with the people i work for lol

gaslight 08-24-2009 03:48 AM

Thinking on your feet is the Australian way.

Jim 08-24-2009 06:00 AM

she's reading pride & prejudice at the moment so mr darcy can keep her interested ;)

nevertoolate 08-24-2009 06:03 AM

yeah I'm not sure what mine was/is reading atm. I cant keep up. She has an addiction to books as bad as mine to music. Btw where are you from?

Jim 08-24-2009 06:06 AM

melbourne, which was very nearly called batmania.

would have been so awesome to live in a city called batmania, but the crown wanted it named after some poncy lord.

so yeah melbourne :)

where abouts in melb are you? i'm outer eastern suburbs.

Aaron 08-24-2009 06:15 AM

See that's why you hook up with a nerd. Me and Sally play N64 together all the time.

Jim 08-24-2009 06:22 AM

actually my mrs loves cod4 and always wants to play. she's even better than one of my friends but he's terrible.

man n64 had some sweet split screen games. i never had a nintendo of any kind (bar a gameboy) but i used to love going to a friend's and playing goldeneye or conkers.

memories.

nevertoolate 08-24-2009 06:24 AM

<3 Perfect Dark

Bought a Wii the other day for us , and she seems to enjoy it, I have to pretend I'm struggling tho to keep her interest. which is quite sad.

Ah yeah outer eastern suburbs for me too. Lilydale to be exact

Jim 08-24-2009 06:27 AM

holy ****, lilydale? same here. lol. i grew up in the valley to be exact, but i reside in lilydale currently.

small god damn world

nevertoolate 08-24-2009 06:30 AM

bullshit no way thats freaky lol you've prolly seen me around, I thought it was a small world when I found out RunAmok was in Dandenong. I did six years (not jail lol) up in Shepparton otherwise pretty much Croydon and Lilydale

Aaron 08-24-2009 06:34 AM

In the interview today I used the phrase pimp hand strong successfully.

Was talking about family and stuff, and about how I'm the smallest of my brothers, but the oldest. The dude interviewing me made a backhanding motion and so I said as a reflex I said "pimp hand strong." Not gonna lie, it was amazing.
