 You just started sweeping but you can do crazy arpeggio stuff...um.
well not arpeggios but mostly just zakk wylde style stuff just not as fast.

Toaster 03-04-2006 01:59 PM
I started Lashed To The Slave Stick tonight and made good progress. It's not very hard. It's also really fun to play and sounds sweet... Though sadly theres no way in hell to tune down to AEADBE, I can't even go down to CGCFAD. The strings will flop.

Though with the wonders of ajusting my amp's tone and trying different palm muting tecniques I have it sounding pretty damn heavy and good.

I've gotten pretty good at ajusting tone btw. lol.
If you find the chorus easy, you're playing it wrong.

I havn't gotten there yet. ftr.

That the part where you skip down several strings at lightning pace? Back and forth?

That seems like it will be pretty damn hard.
well not arpeggios but mostly just zakk wylde style stuff just not as fast.
Zakk Wylde rarely ever sweeps. The only sweeps he does are just between two strings, which I don't personally consider sweeps. If you want to start sweeping, I suggest doing things slowly like 3 string arpeggios and then 5 string. I was dumb and started off with 5, but I got it down far quicker than anyone else I ever knew.

Shadows 03-04-2006 02:47 PM

Norwegian is a pretty awesome language.

Haha that bit is HARD. I'm going to record the first bit of it later, but not that bit.

I played through it at about 1/5 speed or so.. lawl.

Then sped it up a bit, damn... HARD AS HELL.
I got up to that point down pretty damn well. So I'm happy about that.

I'll start the torture of learning that next part later. oh boi.. already sounds fun :p

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 08:39 PM

Mmmm, it seems that the tab for Lashed to the Slave stick is pretty wrong, according to Karl and Joe.

Shadows 03-04-2006 08:42 PM

I finally got a working version of GP and have begun my love affair with The Leper Affinity.

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 08:47 PM

A working version, what was up with the others and where did you get them??

Shadows 03-04-2006 08:48 PM

I don't know what was up. I had gp4, but I could only play gp3 files. Anything newer and I would get "to open this file, please update your guitar pro software". I deleted everything and pirated a new copy and now it all works.

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 09:14 PM

You just needed the update unstaller thingy, but it's all good now.

!!!!

Do not attempt to up date any pirated software or OS

The serial will hit the "black list" and it will become invalid

In the case of Guitar Pro, it reverts into the demo

Mitch: Which tab are you referring to and which way is correct?

Inkstar 03-05-2006 01:01 AM

I've only just signed up these forums (hey all!), so quickly I'd like to say Bodom are one of my all time favourite bands.

On the point of their last album, I didn't really like it. It just seemed too... "punky" (I'm gunna get flamed for that) in my opinion. It wasn't typical Bodom style, and I'm quite disappointed in it.

Favourite album, for me, would probably be Hatebreeder, closely followed by Something Wild (Lake Bodom = GOD). Hatebreeder had the classic that is Silent Night, Bodom Night, as well as Hatebreeder, Children Of Bodom and Downfall. Great songs those. Although I must say, I think I'm the only person who doesn't like Warheart.

Oh yeah, and I'm a drummer. ^^

First... Welcome to the forums!!!

You quite possibly are the only person who doesn't like Warheart.

AYDY wasn't "punky". I don't hear that at all in it. It's in fact alot heavier then CoB's other works. You most likely don't like it because there isn't the neo classical elements in it. (listing Something Wild and Hatebreeder as your favs would lead me to believe this).
Hatebreeder is second best in my book. Follow The Reaper being first.

If you listen through each album, in order... You can hear they were getting heavier and heavier with each release.

I think Something Wild is more "punky" then AYDY by far. With "The Nail".

Yeah I dig what you're saying, but by punky I just meant it seemed too... straight forward. You know? I couldn't say it's verse-chorus-verse-chorus because alot of their older songs are like that in way, but yeah, maybe it is the whole neo classical thing that seems missing.

Try playing some of the songs on AYDY, many of them are actually more technical then older CoB.

FTW.

Inkstar 03-05-2006 01:22 AM

True hey? I may just do that.

By the way, me and some mates are doing Lake Bodom for a local Battle Of The Bands competition. All the other bands play crap like... I dunno, crap. :P

But yeah, gogo us.

If the kit in your avatar is your kit, then you have a one sweet kit.

Inkstar 03-05-2006 02:48 AM

Heh, I wish.

I'll be hopefully picking up a new Sonor 3005 Force FULL MAPLE kit within the next 3 months, however. Excitement? Yes!

I updated my pirated software with a pirated update thing and it's fine, everything works perfectly.

The tab for LttST on mysongbook is incorrect, and I don't know the correct version.

Inkstar - Welcome, good to hear you're a drummer. You're the only actual drummer here. I and another play drums a bit aswell as guitar but it's mot our main instrument. Do you have any recordings of yourself playing??

Hey, don't forget me, I drum.

MRDuCran 03-05-2006 04:37 PM

You were actually the other guy I was referring to.

"I and another play drums", Sorry if that wasn't clear enough, it was worded in a weird way now that I look at it.

AA-12 03-05-2006 04:38 PM

Ah, well drums are basically my main now. Guitar has only been annoying me lately.

Shadows 03-05-2006 04:39 PM

Dude, you're giving up guitar?

repcak 03-05-2006 04:49 PM

no, don't do it.... playing guitar is the best thing in the world you can do!!

AA-12 03-05-2006 05:10 PM
Dude, you're giving up guitar?
Not exactly, I just don't practice anymore, and I don't really enjoy it much. Drums are much more enjoyable for me.

Well, if that's what you want to do. Most people I know start out playing something else and later discover that guitar is much more enjoyable, but then again I live in a town full of retards.

How have you been otherwise?

AA-12 03-05-2006 05:25 PM

I've been decent I guess.

repcak 03-05-2006 05:34 PM

@Necronomicon: it is "Der kommende Angriff"... "kommende" has to be uncapitalised, not "Kommende"

@MRDuCran: how long does it take you to learn a whole song (intermediate level)? solo included...1months, 2months. i don't have a wealth stamina and need to know it, how long i will have to practise a song, until i can play it.

It depends on the song I guess, but usually I can LEARN a whole song in a day. Then the difficulty will determine how long it takes for me to nail it consistently.
So to learn, a few mintues-day or two.
To play, maybe a day-month or so.

To see how long it will take YOU to play something, just look at how fast you're progressing with your practise. If you go up 10bpm in a week, then it's obviously going to take longer than if you can go up 30 in a day. But for me it really does depend on the song. Universal Mind, I'm up to 120bpm, Needled 24/7 intro rhythm I can play at 200bpm.

repcak 03-05-2006 06:01 PM

i want to learn the whole "swamphell" song by kalmah. i can play the first minute... to the first solo.... and at about 60bpm, the song is 110fast; and i want to learn the solos too.

edit: it depends... 60-80bpm; i have problems playing it with a metronome, cause i haven't done this for a long time. grrrr

MRDuCran 03-05-2006 06:06 PM

Well there's two ways you could do it. Learn the whole thing now and forget speed, or learn one section and get it down at 110, then move to the next etc.

If it was me and I wanted to be able to play the whole song, then I'd learn the whole thing first, then practise it in sections.

Go for the rhythms first I'd say.

repcak 03-05-2006 06:11 PM

i already learnt the intro and some of the main riffs... tomorrow i will learn the other rhythm stuffs and will practise it in sections (how you said).
hm... but i don't know when i should start learn the solo... at the end, when i can play the whole song at 110bpm or meanwhile, during practising?

thanks

MRDuCran 03-05-2006 06:20 PM

I usually learn the whole thing, and practise it all together at one tempo. Like with Sinergy's "I Spit On Your Grave", I know the whole thing, and practise it all at one tempo, but sometimes I just concentrate on the intro, which is the hardest part.
So you might wanna just concentrate on the solos at the end like you said.

repcak 03-05-2006 06:28 PM

mhm... great. i will do it as you said... it would be the first song i will learn from the first beat to the last.
the question is only: how long will i practise it, until i loose interest on this song :(

I'm Charming 03-05-2006 06:30 PM

How hard is that song or any other Sinergy?

MRDuCran 03-05-2006 06:33 PM

It's pretty tricky in all honesty. Most of them have one part that is a bitch to play, argh @ Alexi.

Check out Roope's solo in Passage to the Forth World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yer, I didn't know he could play like that.
