Holy crap... my IQ is dangeriously low... :(

siva_chair 07-25-2005 01:50 PM

Since we are on the topic of drums, I have a question for anyone that can help me out here. I am doing a recording of some songs, and I don't really have access to a drummer. I need to get a drumtrack for Layla (Unplugged) but I don't know what program I can use to make something that sounds like it. It is in 12/8 time. I am a guitar player, and I don't know that much about drum programs or anything, so if anyone could suggest something for me that would be great.

Syncratic 07-25-2005 02:41 PM

Did you guys see the post in the guitar forum about Teleincision?

People need to inform themselves.

Mr Benners 07-25-2005 02:56 PM

So then Jake/G Mac... I have given in to the Cog whoring going on and downloaded the Just Visiting EPs and WOAH are they good. The music is very well thought out and conveys a sense of intelligence akin to Tool. I'll have to listen to them a few more times to fully get a grip on them, but first impressions are very promising. I'm VERY keen to hear more, so I'm wondering is the album readily available here in the UK, or is it an import/download affair?

(Sorry this isn't really Tool related :p)

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-25-2005 03:55 PM

I'm not sure if it's available in the UK. I know it's obviously been released in Australia, and now it's out in the US, but if I were you, just download the album and keep an eye out for it.

clearvision 07-25-2005 03:59 PM

Someone upload drumkit for hell pleaaase :)

Alritey then, thanks very much for introducing me to them and the help.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-25-2005 04:47 PM

I'm downloading it, but what is it, Ben?

I just recorded Hush, minus the solo. I have it down, but I need delay. :upset:

EDIT: I got it, sounds dandy. Now let's hear what it sounds like slathered in distortion! :p

Its me playing tool chords unamped.

Think of this as momentous rather than of any actual significance towards Tool.

Yet.

Syncratic 07-25-2005 05:00 PM

AJIG, you are almost as cryptic as Blair in that post.

Is it me, or does the guy in the new newsletter playing with the Barbie look like Paul D'Amour?

denboy 07-25-2005 05:06 PM
No way in hell I'm posting.
Where are you from?.. If you aren't british and took that bbc one, then it's understandable.. Hehe

And AJIG... Don't use WMA.. For the love of god

Darkness 07-25-2005 05:07 PM

One Groovin Clown 07-25-2005 09:17 PM

Darkness 07-25-2005 09:24 PM

One Groovin Clown 07-25-2005 09:25 PM
the capital of Alberta. :p
Edmonton, or is it Calgary. Man i always get those 2 confused with each other.

Darkness 07-25-2005 09:26 PM

heh, its Edmonton. Though I live just on the outside of the city.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-25-2005 09:46 PM

I've been Vancouver. It's a beautiful place, but man, that vacation sucked. I went with my grandparents and my mom's sister(So my aunt and cousins) and man, they are the most stuffy people on the planet. We went to some dumbass farmer's market thing, then to the Buchart Gardens. It sucked hXc. :p I'd go again, but without my family.

@ low IQ'd Hoser(teehee j/k)- Elephtheria, Bliboran, Refractionoid; Take your pic.

Dude3 07-25-2005 10:19 PM

Elephtheria, maybe...........

Hey guys, do you think I should get a name change? Dude3 just sounds kinda bland and un-memorable. What do you think I should do? Keep it or change it?

FlyingPaul_83 07-25-2005 10:22 PM

I've never eally heard tool, so I don't really know anything about them. Can someone tell me what kind of music thy play, and what cd I should get?

Moses 07-25-2005 10:25 PM

For starters you should probably get Aenima. They play prog-rock but more emphasis on ambience than technicality unlike Dream Theater or Rush.

Dried Muffin Remnants 07-25-2005 10:25 PM
I've never eally heard tool, so I don't really know anything about them. Can someone tell me what kind of music thy play, and what cd I should get?
Opiate: Aggressive heavy rock
Undertow: Heavy rock
Aenima: heavy rock-prog rock
lateralus: heavy prog rock

Get Aenima or Lateralus first and then go from there.

edit: i hate when people beat me to the punch

They play mind-trippingly great music.

You should get all their albums.

Dried Muffin Remnants 07-25-2005 10:26 PM

Hey siva, i've read you on the politics thread and i like what i see. fight the good fight, my friend.

siva_chair 07-25-2005 10:31 PM
Hey siva, i've read you on the politics thread and i like what i see. fight the good fight, my friend.
Thanks. It gets kinda crazy in politics, but I enjoy it. Sometimes I come in here, but I don't post much in here because I usually A) get ignored or B) don't have something new to bring to the discussion. I do enjoy reading this thread alot, and Tool is, of course, one of my absolute favorite bands.

Dude3 07-25-2005 10:39 PM
Hey guys, do you think I should get a name change? Dude3 just sounds kinda bland and un-memorable. What do you think I should do? Keep it or change it?
Anybody?

Darkness 07-25-2005 10:40 PM

We know you as Dude3, just leave as that.

Dried Muffin Remnants 07-25-2005 10:40 PM

To Siva: But the more you post in here - the more you'll get noticed. If you post intelligently, then you'll be respected in here, and I think you can do that.
Anybody?
Yeah, change it if you feel the need. I changed mine to the lyrics of Zappa's Muffin Man.

Also, I'd do something a little obscure, so that you aren't perceived as a fanboy.

siva_chair 07-25-2005 10:43 PM
But the more you post in here - the more you'll get noticed. If you post intelligently, then you'll be respected in here, and I think you can do that.
Indeed. I dunno, I just never feel like I have anything interesting to bring to the discussions. Though I do really like this place...

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-25-2005 10:50 PM

As of late, it's turned into more of a community thread for people that like Tool than just a thread for the discussion of Tool. Mainly due to the lack of new news and material on them. :p

Dude3 07-25-2005 10:51 PM

I think I might change it, although people know me as Dude3. If I do, I'll wait until I think of something good.

3074326 07-25-2005 10:54 PM

I heard that Tool has a cover song of Eddie Money's "Trinidad" on the new album. Apparantly David Draiman from Disturbed shares vocals with Maynard.
