Just tried playing through my amp for the first time in yonks, and it's playing up. Seems to be more hiss than normal, though it may be suffering from relatively unclean power source, but more annoyingly the sound fades in and out. I'm thinking one or more of the tubes may be knackered, which is a distinct possibility, since it's been moved around a fair bit recently, and not necessarily with all that much caution. Also, though it's not exactly seen heavy use, I haven't ever changed the tubes in it since I got it, which has been at least 3 years.

tl;dr Amp's fading in and out. Tube(s) buggered?

why shouldn't you use the third?

traditionally bassists are advised against it cause it causes too much tension in the hand and puts pressure on a weak finger without enough support from the other fingers

but it's not universally prohibited

after i wrote a car off i had to get one of those as they're cheap as fuck to insure. the 8v version is however as slow as fuck too. saying that it did the job and you can indeed get the gear in the back :thumb:

my pc and my 'rents's laptop have broken so i only get the internet when i pop round my sister's house. Fully lame.

Just bought a car though, '99 Astra just to get around until I've put enough money away from my new job to get something half decent. Fucking insurance is insane though.

it was in a village called baldwins gate at a place called slaters. went very well with just me playing guitar on my todd for the first time. really enjoyed it and got much stoned.:chug:

good news on the motor. had one of them too a while back, think it was a 98. did me ok still i stuffed it into the back of a vectra. :o
