Its not noise, because technically, there is rhythm, just hard to distinguish, noise by definition doesnt have notes, tempo etc etc. This does. It is good too, and in some songs there is chanting.

I just can't fathom listening to something like that for more than 10 seconds. It's just way too far out for me.

Doom metal in general I can't stand at all, and in my opinion bands like SUNN O))) and Khanate take it to a whole new level of ****tiness.

On the other hand, bands like Cathedral, Candlemass, My Dying Bride (their older stuff) and Isole make doom metal excellent.

Candlemass isn't bad, and I like Cathedral. My Dying Bride is easily the most depressing band I've ever heard on my life. I'm already on meds, so I don't think listening to them would be a good idea. But this new Katatonia makes me want to explore their early death/doom stuff.

If you like older Opeth, you should have no problem with it. I'm not a huge expert on it, but from the tracks I've heard, it's quite excellent.

It'd do you good to check out some Isole as well. They are easily one of the best doom bands that I've ever heard.

I like all Opeth, so it should do me well. I'll also check out Isole. I've been meaning to look into Novembers Doom too.

I could send you some Novembers Doom, if you wish.
