rep = reputation points. That's the little tick/cross box under your avatar. You hand out + rep for good posts and - rep for bad posts. well, at least you're supposed to

Mods can't change account names, for the record. Only admins can do things like that. Most we can do to accounts (other than banning them) is changing avatars, I think.
