tight, thanks man!

Tyler 12-21-2009 04:27 AM

rome's latest is ridiculously good

Ventriloquist 12-21-2009 04:27 AM

+ Rome - Confessions. Though there's a good chance you've already heard them.

edit: Yeah, it's really different than their previous albums. Much more dynamic and jaunty.

Meatplow 12-21-2009 06:26 AM
tight, thanks man!
I pretty much just mentioned a few key albums from the core of the british scene, theres a whole heap of european stuff to get through as well.
need some classic free jazz

the more radical the better
Peter Brötzmann
Derek Bailey
Albert Ayler
Sun Ra
Cecil Taylor
Pharoah Sanders
Ornette Coleman
Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Quintet

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:52 AM

i knw i could count on u

Txus 12-21-2009 10:57 AM

And get some Coltrane, not free jazz but still a major influence on most of them.

Room13 12-21-2009 11:24 AM

his later stuff is free jazz

Ventriloquist 12-21-2009 03:33 PM

yeah, you can also check the later stuff of Wayne Shorter(another legend). His last ensemble played avant-garde when I saw them last year. All of his post 2000 albums are with this ensemble as far as I know.

Skyler 12-21-2009 04:54 PM
their other stuff features some dude vocalist

I like her vocals on that album though, 6 Underground's my favorite track by them
Yeah, the male vocalist is Chris Corner, the guy that writes most of the music. They kicked the girl out because they didn't want to sound like other downtempo bands of the time.

6 Underground is also my favorite song of theirs, and probably my favorite song in general.

Tulannical 12-21-2009 07:54 PM

Rec the best '09 indie albums. pretend i don't know any

Skyler 12-21-2009 07:57 PM

"indie" doesn't really tell us anything, buddy.

Tulannical 12-21-2009 08:01 PM

Sorry. Indie pop, specifically. Stuff like The Unicorns, Death Cab, etc.

Tyler 12-21-2009 08:27 PM

fun. - Aim and Ignite

Tulannical 12-21-2009 09:20 PM

Thanks I've heard good things about fun. Also gonna get some Grizzly Bear.

DBlitz 12-21-2009 09:27 PM

found grizzly bear pretty boring tbh, but i've only listened to both their albums once

feel like listening to them now actually

Meatplow 12-21-2009 09:56 PM
Rec the best '09 indie albums. pretend i don't know any
Current 93 - Aleph At Hallucinatory Mountain

Txus 12-21-2009 09:59 PM

sasha is so indie

Meatplow 12-21-2009 10:00 PM

Why that album didn't get more attention from indie fags idk

Txus 12-21-2009 10:02 PM

Yeah, it didn't even get any attention in here.

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:26 PM

There was Skeletal Lampings by Of Montreal, i heard a song or two off of it and it sounded crucial

and i think the new animal collective is supposed to be a big deal

Txus 12-21-2009 10:27 PM

My girlfriend told me it sucks, so idk (new animal collective)

DBlitz 12-21-2009 10:34 PM

found it pretty boring as well

Skyler 12-21-2009 10:42 PM
There was Skeletal Lampings by Of Montreal
That was last year.

Check out the new Mew album; it's really solid.

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:49 PM

0:41 - 0:51 always blows my mind
yea

illmitch 12-21-2009 11:18 PM

skeletal lampings was also a bad album

idk i havent lsitened to any new indie cuz im too indie to

Txus 12-21-2009 11:19 PM

of montreal suck in general tbh

Apoc 12-22-2009 01:54 AM

I liked both Merriweather Post Pavilion, and Fall be Kind

even though now it's more alt to have not liked them

most indie kids lament how much poppier AC have begun to sound but they've still got an edge, and they're still creative, so frankly it's just prejudice against accessibility lol. js.

Of Montreal never really impressed me too much tbh, Skeletal Lamping was no exception although Beware Our Nubile Miscreants is f*ckin fun song

xMalcolmXx 12-22-2009 03:12 AM

MPP was ok, but feels is by far my favorite from them

rasputin 12-22-2009 04:38 AM
That was last year.

the new album is really boring, doesn't have anything on frengers

Jaundice 12-22-2009 06:32 AM

lol, of montreal is so much fun

illmitch 12-22-2009 07:03 AM

sunlandic twins is an amazing album

Jaundice 12-22-2009 07:07 AM

coquelicot asleep in the poppies and the bedside drama are two of the finest indie pop records

Jacaranda 12-22-2009 10:09 AM
Sorry. Indie pop, specifically. Stuff like The Unicorns, Death Cab, etc.
xx, jj or girls
fever ray if you like the knife

Skyler 12-22-2009 03:55 PM
the new album is really boring, doesn't have anything on frengers
I respectfully disagree.

rasputin 12-22-2009 09:11 PM

do you like it more than frengers?

Si1v3RfaNg 12-31-2009 06:45 PM

I need some new metalcore... something similar to the new DEP song maybe? Because I can't stop listening to it. Thanks in advance.

Tyler 12-31-2009 06:55 PM

Nostromo are kinda like DEP. Argue or Argument or wtv is the only one of their albums I have.
