That dude looks like a younger and still alive Jim ah crap I forgot his last name. Maybe it was John. The fat short guy off the first Blues Brother (kick arse movie) and they drunk "toga toga" guy from Animal House.

And I don't care what she looks like, she sounds like "one swell lady".
Aren't AFI like MCR but with a different name? All these new emo bands (I like to call the **** emo, heh, see what I did there?) sound like diseases. AFI, MCR, TBS, BMV etc..
Why do you think I posted that on the confession thread? Even if they are embarrassing, their fans aren't quite as freakish as MCR fans... *Shudder*
Why do you think I posted that on the confession thread? Even if they are embarrassing, their fans aren't quite as freakish as MCR fans... *Shudder*
OO, OO, new emo-based confession.

Confession: I have an emo fringe, one of those face long affairs that are a mile longer than the rest of your hair and hug a third of your face. But I must say I invented that thing for myself in Israel when I was only 6. That's ten years ago, I think. Before emo had gotten famous outside of the punk scene, and way before it would have reached a little musically unaware six year old boy living in a small village in Israel. Those damn MCR fuc'ks stole my idea!

Miss Knottinotsy 11-12-2005 06:59 PM

AFI are goth now. <:)

Brain Toad 11-12-2005 07:04 PM
They are new emo. Not like Rites of Spring or the cool original guys. They sound nothing like them, they are like a whole different genre. And I haven't met one fan of them that is not a poser. Even my girlfriend (ex since a few hours ago, YEEEEEEHAW!) is one. I have FU'CK EMO written on my boot and some guy at my college (who's an emo) came up to me and said "What's that sh'it about, man?" and I told him it doesn't apply to Rites, Fugazi etc. and he said "Cool man, respect."
They are not 'new' emo either.

AFI is post-hardcore, MCR is pop-punk/crap.

MCR is NOT punk, in any kind of way or genre. It is described as emo by all of it's big fans. By everyone else, it's described as crap.

Their fans don't know musicial genres then. There is newer emo bands out now that sound nothing like MCR. Emo is thrown around at any music that is whiny and 'emotional' when that isn't even the true defintion of emo. Emo is emotional HARDCORE, therefore MCR cannot be emo as they are not hardcore in any way.

They are bordering between pop-punk and pop-rock.

You are an idiot. My Chemical Romance is simply a terrible pop-punk band.

Well, I have only heard two of their "defining tracks" and completely hated them. and since everyone describes them as emo, apart from you lot, and I know what emo is and that is NOT emo, I presumed it was some sort of new hybrid horrible poser emo.

It's just mislabeling by the mass-media, which is why their fans call them that. Same way GC fans call them punk.

obese_breasts 11-12-2005 07:13 PM

Good Charlotte.

coheneran 11-12-2005 07:15 PM
Good Charlotte.
Now THOSE are poser fans, and I know that as a fact. Some kid who thinks he's punX in my old school adores them, blink 182, sum 41 and all those 'pop-punk' bands and when I tried to put him on some NoFX he said it all sucked, especially Bob. I caused him some minor bruising around the wedgie area for that. You just can't deny the awesomeness of Bob.

Miss Knottinotsy 11-12-2005 08:09 PM

XD I like Gerard Way's voice, but I avoid their fanbase like the plague..

What's with AFI changing their sound so much anyway? I know bands grow into new sounds, but I'm frightened that they've run out of genres, and will go all country-coocoo like The White Stripes.

A confession you probably don't want to hear, and I don't want to tell, but will anyway: I hugged my cat today, and he pissed all over me. In fact, he pisses on me when I'm about to go to sleep as well.

He fancies you and is marking his territory. You need to get another cat to piss on you so he can smell it and then he'll scratch you a bit and leave you alone. The cure is as bad as the disease, I know, but it's the only way sweetheart.

Miss Knottinotsy 11-12-2005 09:01 PM

I have three cats, mon! Not including the ones outside that our neighbors don't feed. I don't get why we even fixed him. We didn't have any female cats at the time. Actually I'm not sure if "fixing" means to keep them from pissing all over.

To avoid being completely irrelevant, I will post another embarrassing fact about myself: I am so poor that any punk music I own is used, and/or on vinyl.

Who cares!? I make it a habit to not buy any major label products, and to copy and download what I can. The only punk CDs I own are copied and/or downloaded.

FunknPunk 11-12-2005 09:05 PM

er...

all cd's i have unless purchased straight from the band (thus giving them 100% revenue) are used.

when you fix a cat you chop off its balls. it still pisses.

I concur

Brain Toad 11-12-2005 10:29 PM

I buy used CDs more then new nowadays because my record shop was really good on their used CD selection, but right now there was a drought of good CDs and it sucked.

So I was fishing around for cd's last night, and I came upon Alien Ant Farm's first album... I slapped it on and it turns out that it was fucking awesome.
