Ok, I'm downloading American Hunger right now. I've actually never heard of MF Grimm except for the times that he's been mentioned in this thread. Is he real well-known?

ATM 09-22-2006 08:50 AM

Not to my knowledge. I only know of him because the album he did with MF Doom.

sgrevs 09-22-2006 09:08 AM
For the record, I just listened to Grimm's The Downfall Of Ibliys: A Ghetto Opera, and it's also very good. Doom is on a couple tracks.
This is awesome now I'm really getting into MF Grimm. The Book of Daniel is such a great song. I now want this other album. The "Ghetto Opera" part makes it sound especially enticing. Hip-hop threads rule.

Glitterati 09-22-2006 10:13 AM

What does everyone think of De Le Soul? I've been planning on downloading some stuff by them and wondering what everyone else though.

We_Love_Lime 09-22-2006 10:26 AM
They're cool. 3 Feet And Rising is a hot album, and they pull off the jazz-rap thing far more convincingly than ATCQ.
De La Soul is pretty chill.
Much like ATCQ, however I like ATCQ a bit better though

Rams 09-22-2006 10:39 AM
Oooo, is this actually new? Or is it just Late Orchestration? If it's new i'll get to downloading that, then up it for the mailing list or something.
It's the Live at Abbey Road thing, whatever it is called. It's probably been out for a couple months now. It seems like it came out and no one noticed it, yet everyone who did said it was excellent.

De La Soul is pretty good but 3 Feet High & Rising is way too bloated with skits and overall stupid songs. Songs like "The Magic Number" rock while "Can U Keep A Secret" clearly does not.

Quirky Turkey 09-22-2006 12:33 PM

I've been listening to 'De La Soul Is Dead' and its pretty fantastic.

I agree with the stuff about most hip hop skits not being very good. Kanye, you are the biggest offender.

Hell no, that album is a classic. De La Soul are one of the few who can make skits which don't mess up the entire flow of the album. Their best album is Stakes is High though.

metalkingtiger 09-23-2006 07:41 PM

Can anybody tell me the name of the Album where the song Deep Cover (Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg) is?

metalkingtiger 09-23-2006 07:59 PM
It's from the movie Deep Cover. You'll find it on Snoop's on Dre's greatest hits. Does Dre have a greatest hits?
Thanks, man. I'll get the movie, they tell me it's good. And the song is a classic.

antiant 09-23-2006 09:43 PM

just give me your email and i can send it to you, the song that is

Definitely. I can't listen to his albums all the way through.

Eliminator 09-25-2006 05:45 AM

If his albums would be mostly skit-free, they would be so much better. Especially Late Registration, which is pretty much his most solid album yet.

ATM 09-25-2006 08:35 AM

Any Demigodz fans? I can't stop listening to them lately.

Kaden 09-25-2006 04:59 PM

Psh, he only has two albums.

Eliminator 09-25-2006 05:00 PM

he actually has more than two

Excursions 09-25-2006 05:09 PM

antiant 09-25-2006 07:30 PM

We_Love_Lime 09-25-2006 08:42 PM

I don't know the difference though, I'm not down with street talk.

sgrevs 09-26-2006 07:28 AM

I'm really digging The Chronic lately. i don't really know why but i just listened to it the other day for the first time in a while and i remembered that its pretty damn good. 2001 is also wicked.

LedZeppFan83 09-26-2006 08:49 AM

Well....

I'm not really into rap. I used to be when I was in middle school, but I started playing bass guitar and then got into classic rock and jam bands. But my band and I do like to jam rap songs somtimes for fun. Like that "Laffy Taffy", "Knuck If You Buck", etc.:thumb:

Chrizzle fo' Shizzle 09-26-2006 09:03 PM

Got the new Ludacris album today

Definately very good

I don't either, but i really like Dre, he's definitely class, and some of his stuff with Snoop is killer.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-27-2006 03:34 AM

The Chronic is awesome.

We_Love_Lime 09-27-2006 07:50 AM

Agreed ^

Kaden 09-27-2006 11:22 AM

I love Dre as a producer, but as a rapper he's kind of a joke.

Tyler 09-27-2006 11:43 AM

Kind of?
The Chronic is awesome.
The production and ghostwriting are awesome.

JonM 09-27-2006 06:08 PM
The production and ghostwriting are awesome.
Yeah MF Grimm

ATM 09-27-2006 07:53 PM

I'm yet to hear this dude.

Kaden 09-27-2006 08:53 PM
Yeah MF Grimm
I got American Hunger, and to be honest I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I'm finding it hard to get into him as an mc, his flow is just so sluggish and basic.

JonM 09-28-2006 09:23 AM

I was bringing him up, by the way, because he wrote many of the lyrics on The Chronic.

Have you listened to the whole thing, Kaden?

Eliminator 09-28-2006 03:24 PM

Fergie is kind of ugly.

Little Man being Erased 09-28-2006 04:04 PM

That's kind of a massive understatement.

The Jungler 09-28-2006 04:06 PM

If she has such a good voice, I don't understand why she has to make songs like London Bridge.

Oh yeah right, she doesn't have a very good voice.

Glitterati 09-28-2006 04:16 PM
Fergie is kind of ugly.
and johnny cash "kind of" liked to wear black.

Eliminator 09-28-2006 04:22 PM

i concede

ATM 09-28-2006 06:09 PM

You guys need to check out Louis Logic immediatly. Seriously amazing MC.

I've listened to most of it, meaning all of discs 1 and 2 and some of 3. There are songs where I like his rapping, but then there are songs where it's so basic I can't get into it, regardless of whether I like the beat or not (ie Playground).
