I'd like to hear them do some RATM covers. I guess Cornell DOES sing along to Killing in the Name and Sleep Now in the Fire.

TheDMV 08-21-2005 10:28 PM

I recently picked up Battle of Los Angeles and I must say, Rage is quickly becoming one of my favorite baands. IMO there's not a bad song on the album.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 10:33 PM

Glad you like it. RATM are known for their extremely solid albums. The only album that I feel has a few weak cuts is Evil Empire.

Darkness 08-21-2005 10:38 PM
I'd like to hear them do some RATM covers. I guess Cornell just kind of leaves the stage during them, which is kind of lame. It'd be interesting to hear him try and rap. :p
This isn't true, he sings Killing In The Name and Sleep Now In the Fire with them, but when they do their small portion of Bulls on Parade he just kinda steps back. I could upload my bootlegs if you wish.

Oh and the song with least amount of good songige is BOLA... 7,8,9,10 aren't very good.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 10:50 PM

Maria(8)is one of my favorite songs. :upset:

Madey said he left the stage. What a blasphemist. I'll download if you upload, since you offered. :)

Fix'd.

Darkness 08-21-2005 10:51 PM

Ashes is number 11, and its one of my favorite songs to. Uploads in a few min.

Originally I though BOLA to have quite a few mediocre songs, but after listening to it for over 5 years, i can say quite honestly that its still one of my fav cds, and there is something to like about every song

Shaft! 08-22-2005 06:16 PM

I liked BOLA for "Ashes in the Fall" and "Calm Like A Bomb". I've always liked "Born of a Broken Man" as well. It's one of only a handful of songs that really gives you insight into Zack's personal life, the others being "Settle for Nothing" and "Revolver" (Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?".
I'm working on a cover of "Bombtrack" currently, and I hope I can get it done. I rehearse and rehearse, but when I try to record, I usually mess up. I was thinking on carrying on the solo a bit longer and sort of giving it a more blues-based sound...I hope that won't go over badly.
I decided to open it with an intro similar to the intro Morello gave "Bulls on Parade" at the Grand Olympic, but I might change that.
I actually am very glad Cornell doesn't sing "Bulls on Parade". I couldn't imagine the man rapping in really any way.
I'm wondering when they'll give Rage a more official "best of" album. I know that there was an unofficial one, I believe, but I've noticed that since some "best of" albums offer previously unreleased material, a "best of" album from Rage might have one surprise left for us.
I would think that'd be pretty cool, but R.A.T.M. might not have wanted that.
I saw a picture of Zack recently and he ditched his dreads. I'm not sure how old the picture was, but he just has a 'fro. I believe he was presenting at the Latin MTV awards or something.

Geezer1287 08-22-2005 06:38 PM

Has anyone heard Genocide? Good song, Zapatas blood is quite poor, no shelter was on the godzilla soundtrack i think? **** the police (originally NWA) cover was ok too, dunno why it wasnt on renegades.

Darkness 08-22-2005 07:43 PM

Zack is performing october 7th. See zdlr.net for details.

7 is all right, but Maria and New Millenium Homes are Awesome songs.

Darkness 08-22-2005 08:27 PM

Their decent songs, but their not very original at all. Ashes In The Fall is the best on that cd... I'd like it the most even if it was just the "Ain't it funny how the facory doors close" part. :p

TheDMV 08-22-2005 08:58 PM

I think that Maria is one of the more diffrent and original songs on the album.

Darkness 08-22-2005 09:00 PM

Not really... weird riff verse and heavy chorus.. thats like 50% of all rage songs.

TheDMV 08-22-2005 09:06 PM
Not really... weird riff verse and heavy chorus.. thats like 50% of all rage songs.
I guess from basically only hearing BOLA I interpreted the usual Rage as a effectish intro the Zach doing an UHHH as the song gets heavier.

Darkness 08-22-2005 09:10 PM

Get the Self Titled and Evil Empire then. Now.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-22-2005 10:05 PM

Does anyone have any of Zack's songs other than March of Death? If so, could you be so cordial as to upload them? :-D Much thanks.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-23-2005 04:19 AM

Are there even any others available?

dr._feelgood 08-23-2005 08:41 AM

When is his solo album supposed to come out anyway?

Darkness 08-23-2005 08:46 AM

We Want It All is his other song, I'll get it for you guys now.

Solo album... probably never, but keep hopeing.

Edit: It can be listened to here. We Want It All

DuncMaster 08-23-2005 09:37 AM

I heard that on the radio a while back. I was like "What the hell? Is that him?" Deff different from other solo songs he done.

dr._feelgood 08-23-2005 01:27 PM

How many solo songs has he done anyway?

200TH POST
The only ones I know of are March of Death and We Want It All, but he's worked with other artist like KRS one, The Roots, DJ Shadow, and I think Cypress Hill. I really hope comes out with a solo album, but you can check out http://www.zdlr.net/board/index.php I haven't has a chance to read it yet, but it seems like theres a lot of information about his new releases and stuff.

frmautumTOashes 08-23-2005 02:17 PM

This article is over 4 years old, but it says that Zack already has songs made. I always wondered if he didn't release his album cause he had trobule writing songs for it, but apparantly he's done 6 songs with ?uestlove and it says "he will have plenty of songs to choose from" so I don't know why it's been over 4 years and only 2 songs.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-23-2005 03:06 PM

You can't download We Want it All? I hate streaming. :upset:

dr._feelgood 08-23-2005 09:24 PM

Why did Zack leave the band anyway? Did it have anything to do with the thing at the VMAs when Tim climbed the set?

Darkness 08-23-2005 09:26 PM

Yeah that kinda pissed him off, but he also left becaues he thought the band was starting to be repitetive and that their decision making process had failed.

-Guitarded- 08-23-2005 09:38 PM

Renegades was probably their worst album, a few of the songs are kind of lame. It's not nearly a bad album though.

I quite enjoyed that album myself.

Pistol Grip Pump was an amazing song. and the whole album was VERY good for it being a cover album.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-23-2005 09:57 PM

Zack thought that he could get more done politically as a solo influence, or something. Talk about a failure.

Anyways, that song was pretty ok...I can't decide if I liked it or not, really. His vocals were definitely more crisp and refined than most of his work with RATM, but the song was quite repetitive.

ECream 08-23-2005 10:19 PM

What do you guys think is the best cover off of Renegades?

I used to think 'Renegades of Funk' , however I quickly realized that 'Maggie's Farm' was BY FAR the best cover on that album.

Best R.A.T.M. cover ever?

I'm Housin - Grand Olympic Auditorium Show
