I like the new name. I remember Tom saying that Slayer is deomcratic when it comes to material and songs, that they won't do a song till they all agree on it, and then make changes and such till all can agree. But then again, I remember Tom saying that when Jeff wrote Bloodline, he basically told Tom how he wanted it to sound and told Tom how to sing the song.

stevo_13 10-22-2005 03:08 PM

I prefer Hannemans solos but I really like Kerry's too. I just find Hannemans solos more technically interesting and alot less chaotic and random than Kerry's.

lightningmetal666 10-22-2005 03:57 PM
No, Tom writes many songs. In still reigning Jeff says how sick Tom's his lyrics are. There a band they have a equal say. If one had more control then the other it wouldnt be a band.

Who likes the new name!

Come on let's keep this thread a live
Actually kerry writes far more than tom.

Kerry actually has more say because he'll bitch if he doesn't get his way and

in order to keep the peace, everyone just goes with it.

Bazarov 10-22-2005 04:20 PM

Araya started writing lyrics on South of Heaven, such as South of Heaven, Silent Scream, and Live Undead.

Britton 10-22-2005 04:23 PM

I need to get south of heaven.

I love the new name

Oh yeah, I know tom writes (like the lyrics to war ensemble) but kerry writes far more than tom.

I remember reading that all the songs about blood and fantasy horror etc. are written by Kerry and stuff about war and politics are by either tom or jeff.

Well yeah, Jeff and Kerry do have wrote a lot more lyrics. Tom also seems to be interested in murders/murderers. Songs like 213, Silent Scream, or Serenity in Murder.

Yeah, the sight of him covered in blood during the still reigning shows (at least from what I've seen on Uranium) kinda gave me that impression.

That's what I heard too. And it makes sense

lightningmetal666 10-22-2005 04:32 PM

Tom is a pretty crazy looking guy.

I was kinda freaked out but absolutely loved his high pitched scream the first time I heard Angel of Death.

Britton 10-22-2005 04:48 PM

He is really creepy. just read the lyrics...that's proof enough

Actually I find his whole act like a murderer thing to be hilarious.

Try watching the War at the Warfield DVD when he introduces captor of sin.

"If you see a stranger walking in town.......YOU CAN FU*KING KILL 'EM"

Britton 10-22-2005 04:53 PM

He says that? it's kinda funny I bet he's a really sweet man in real life

Nostalgia 10-22-2005 05:46 PM

He is and really out spoken, In the interview on still reighing, it's more of kerry talking about stupid stuff, Tom barley says stuff. Their is one thing I really like a bout them. A lot of newer bands now a days to that stupid thing where all they do is yell at the crowd stupid shit and swear constinley but you never see Tom yell into the crowd during a song. Listing to them live is just like in the studio.

OldBobScoo 10-22-2005 05:53 PM

I saw Kerry King at my local music store and he said that the new slayer cd twill be out some time in the spring. He was doing a guitar abuse thing were you got to play his axe and stuff.

nowitzki 10-22-2005 06:44 PM

Tom seems like a really cool guy, he always gives all the songs funny introductions live, and you can tell he's up there just having fun.
When I saw them a year ago, just before Postmortem he yelled "Do you wanna die?", and a few few people cheered and responded, the Tom goes "Well I guess we won't be seeing you at our next show here then"

 That's pretty funny. All I remember him saying when I saw them, is he said, "This song is dedicated to all of our heroes out in the Middle East getting blown-up and having their brains blasted out for our freedom" then they played Mandatory Suicide

They'll probably kick-off a tour when they finish the new album. So maybe in about 4 more months.

FatalEnergy 10-22-2005 08:04 PM

The new album is coming out?

I personally haven't like anything they've done since "Seasons.....", but I'm kind of looking forward to what they're going to do since Lombardo is back

metalmilitia101 10-22-2005 09:22 PM

YEAH lombardo!!!! my hero. my role model for talent - kirk hammett is my role model for attitude bc he is so nice and enjoys what he does. but i would love to play like lombardo, i'll be there someday, i dunno maybe tuesday or wednesday. lol

Yeah their newer stuff I like less. I think out of the new CD's they've released Divine Intervention is the only one where I like most of the songs.

Nostalgia 10-22-2005 10:04 PM

Divine, Is kinda like the turning point. Divine is more like GHUA IMO

ThrashMaster27 10-22-2005 10:22 PM

Hey, my name idea got used. Good stuff :D

As far as getting Lombardo back goes, I don't think it will do any good. The main reason(s) I didn't like the past 3 Slayer albums is because of...

1. Toms increasingly annoying distorted/crap shouting voice.
2. Kerry Kings attempt at turning the band into Slipknot.
3. Terrible solos (Even by Slayer standards).

There's a few great tracks from Divine Intervention and perhaps one or two good songs on Diabolus In Musica. God Hates Us All I just can't listen to.

superflyjojo 10-22-2005 10:25 PM

I like Divine, I also think I'm one of the few that actually likes God Hates Us All, but I HATE Diabolus In Musica. I just hope this album is up to the standards of their earlier releases

Bazarov 10-22-2005 10:27 PM

Has anyone noticed Tom and Kerry's constant whoring of Killswitch Engage and Hatebreed?

 I agree totaly on the distorted vocals I can't stand it. Thats the main reason I don't really like UA.

EDIT: Oh my god. I have been on MX for 1 year and I just found out we have spell check.

No, it's a new feature.

And what do you mean by UA?

EDIT... pfft. You mean Undisputed Attitude right?

ThrashMaster27 10-22-2005 10:32 PM

Undisputed Attitude I presume.

Oh glad I'm not that retarted.

Yea sorry I meant undisputed attitude.

superflyjojo 10-22-2005 10:34 PM

I read somewhere that Kerry hates political lyrics. Is this true? I'd like a second source.

Bazarov 10-22-2005 10:42 PM
I read somewhere that Kerry hates political lyrics. Is this true? I'd like a second source.
That's wierd if he said that because he wrote the lyrics to Dittohead, and that's kind of political, it talks about the flaws in the jusitce system.

Nostalgia 10-22-2005 10:46 PM

Yes he does. I read in a interview with him talking about green day. And they asked him do you think they are actaully punk? He replied "No even early green day wasn't punk, and he talked about how poltics ruins music...Hold on I will try to find the interview.

Britton 10-22-2005 11:07 PM

I wouldn't say anything ruins music

Nostalgia 10-22-2005 11:21 PM

You can't really "ruin" music IMO because music is a genre and you can really hurt a genre.

Britton 10-22-2005 11:25 PM

And plus music is subjective

Nostalgia 10-22-2005 11:28 PM

And plus, kerry is a idiot when it comes to human contact.

Bazarov 10-22-2005 11:30 PM

Yeah but sometimes I think Kerry says the things he does just for contreversy and attention, because since when most people think Kerry King they think Slayer, and then people might want to check Slayer out and such. Or it'll give people more reason to discuss him or Slayer.

Nostalgia 10-22-2005 11:33 PM

EXACTLEY! when people hear the world slayer they think kerry. And I think that is rediclious, when I hear slayer now I see a image of jeff headbanging for some reason.

Britton 10-23-2005 01:01 AM

That's funny...for some reason I think of Kerry or Tom
