I'm massively digging Nick Drake at the moment. Pink Moon is so great. So short but so great.
Get Bryter Layter as soon as you see it, Pink Moon's essential but BL is a masterpiece in itself.

Luxor 10-25-2004 01:05 PM

The Grey Album is so good.

Happymeal 10-25-2004 04:49 PM

Ani Difranco's live version of Grey is so damn beautiful, dammit.

Zappa 10-25-2004 05:13 PM

Antipop Consortium are amazingly good.

Iai 10-25-2004 05:27 PM

Oh, yeah! The other APC. Haven't heard from those guys in a while. They kick it, though.

Iai 10-25-2004 05:32 PM
No.

Descripton puhlease.

Edit: to Iai's post.
About The Honeymoon? You'd have to call them pop, but they're pop in a way pop fans won't appreciate anywhere near as much as indie fans. Hugely melodic, really melancholy. They have a male and a female vocalist - I'm pretty sure they're just a duo and the guy does all the music.

They sound very Scandinavian. Which might seem an odd thing to say, but they do.

Try Reconcile if you wanna download something and check them out.
Oh, yeah! The other APC. Haven't heard from those guys in a while. They kick it, though.
My friend told me about them last night, so I downloaded "Arrhythmia." It's AWESOME.

Iai 10-25-2004 06:02 PM

No problem. :)

I just listened to the Denali tracks I downloaded ages ago. I'm stunned. Great stuff.

Zappa 10-25-2004 06:09 PM

Hey Iai, you should come online so I can send you that Rahsaan Roland Kirk stuff that Medopalis and I enjoy so much.

Iai 10-25-2004 06:13 PM

Will do tomorrow. Backing up and formatting my PC right now. :upset:

I still haven't found "The Inflated Tear" on Soulseek and I can't see your files either :upset:

Happymeal 10-25-2004 06:56 PM

Ooh, I'm starting to love Rahsaan. It's just like what my dad plays on his stereo, but I find this a lot more accessible and fun to listen to:)

Zappa 10-25-2004 07:06 PM

Bread, take the plunge into the word of AIM.

kirkrock85 10-26-2004 12:37 AM

Massice Attack is brillant by the way :-).... almost forgot to... if you like mogwai check out Sigor ros and if you like sigor ros check out mogwai ;-)

kirkrock85 10-26-2004 12:48 AM

Tapeworm 10-26-2004 07:08 AM

Tomahawk 10-26-2004 08:12 AM

I'm listening to the new A Perfect Circle album. I'm not digging it though.

I've been digging The Mint Chicks, Kyuss, Pixies, and Fantomas.

Iai 10-26-2004 12:20 PM

kirkrock85 - I like your style.

Ornery Cephalopod 10-26-2004 01:33 PM

Dismemberment Plan.

But they piss me off, Emergency & I (only album I've heard) has some amazingly amazing songs, and a bunch of pretty darn good but not amazing songs, and then there's some stuff on there just plain sucks to me.

those "not so good songs" grow on you over time, its an amazingly solid album once you give it more time. also get Change, its also pretty consistant but a bit of an evolution in their music.

what on E & I dont you like that much?

kirkrock85 10-26-2004 03:04 PM
kirkrock85 - I like your style.
thanks, same to you

kirkrock85 10-26-2004 03:08 PM

Oh wow... one band i listened to and was very upset with is Posion the Well.... ick. They actually called themselves an emo band... so i was thinking along the lines of today's emo... your thursdays. thrices, the used even.... but, no it was like the new metallica (which was horrible, and I have every other metallica album) but with 10 year olds that didn't know how to play their instruments and has gastric disorders... it was the WORSE thing i've heard... maybe the nu-metal kids will like them

Till_Lindeman001 10-26-2004 04:12 PM

At the moment I'm obsessed with Happylife's debut album, "Sweet Resort". They're a new band from London that have many different styles of music, mostly Indie/Alternative, but sometimes sound like emo or just plain metal, the best songs off the album are "The Way You Hate Me", ""Perfect Sneer", "Final Alibi" and "My World"

I think the ones that I actually dislike are "Spider in the Snow"... and maybe "You Are Invited"? Dunno, I can't play through it to make sure because daddy is watching tv and the computer is in the living room, etc. There's also about 2 other songs that I don't really dislike, but I don't like either... but since I don't really pay attention to song names, even with some of my favorite bands, I can't remember which ones are the pretty-darn-good-but-not-amazing songs and which ones are the don't-like-but-don't-dislike songs...

Master Arkam Kannon 10-26-2004 06:06 PM

You Are Invited really grows on you later, but at first it doesnt seem like that good of a song. Try to focus on the lyrics at a particular time and you'll really hear how uplifting it is.
Bread, take the plunge into the word of AIM.
I've got an account, I've just gotta remmber my password. And to actually sign in :p

Happymeal 10-26-2004 06:33 PM

Get Rahsaan br3ad, it's worth it.

Luxor 10-26-2004 06:36 PM

Today I have listened to:

Alexisonfire - Watch Out!
Elliott Smith - From A Basement On The Hill
Explosions In The Sky - Both albums

So yeah, that's what I'm digging.

Ornery Cephalopod 10-27-2004 01:10 PM

Tub Ring (I suggest you take a gander at them if you like Mr. Bungle) has a new album out, but I only got the first 2 songs from it so far.

But man, they're pretty groovy. If the rest is as good, it'll probably become my favorite Tub Ring album. Or at least tied for fav.

guitfiddle24 10-27-2004 03:28 PM

here ya go

anybody who hasn't heard of bright eyes...should download (or buy) all of their albums...they're amazing...most heart felt lyrics i have ever heard...

Discord Theory 10-27-2004 04:34 PM

I've been listening to a lot of Bright Eyes, Elliot Smith, and Explosions In The Sky tonight.

Wanker 10-27-2004 05:48 PM

The other night, I went on a downloading spree and ripped hundreds of songs from the computers of my fellow classmates.

I got: Belle and Sebatian, Jurassic 5, Elliott Smith, Grateful Dead, Sparta, Coheed and Cambria, AtDI and some more.
I've been listening to a lot of Explosions In The Sky tonight.

i'm digging on rainer maria right now.
They sound a bit like Death Cab with female vocals. Artificial Light is a pretty good song:)
